Americans, you drive me mad with your dumb pronunciation sometimes.
Composite is KOM-po-sit not kom-PAR-zit
Solder is the worst though. Sodder? Where did the fucking L go? WHERE?!
I am sick to death of people in RGB threads typing 'composhit' as well. Just use the normal word, it's not clever. I'm guessing some youtube asshole says it like that and that's where people get it?You mean, KOM-po shit, amirite? lol
It's not really a big leap to get to lolI am sick to death of people in RGB threads typing 'composhit' as well. Just use the normal word, it's not clever. I'm guessing some youtube asshole says it like that and that's where people get it?

Well, I always said it like KOM-po-sit, strange to see it said differently.Americans, you drive me mad with your dumb pronunciation sometimes.

!
Same for me.I got it from the RGB thread too lol.
thorough, and after the low bar metaljesus/others set on these subjects it's great to see something this informative. the WU VC comparisons at the end were great too.

Bad example by me actually, came from an English perspective. Americans over-pronounce r too. It causes syllables to affect the next word if it begins with a vowel. 'For Ever' in English becomes 'Foh Rever'.lol i've never heard it pronounced with an r.

You all should be happy that more big youtube people haven't explained and backed RGB stuff. Do you really want all the good studio monitors and cables to shoot up in price?

Sodder always cracks me up.
Y'all need to get over composite and get on the RF train.
Depends on your market. They're pretty pricey in NYC.
I'm not just competing with retro gamers, but TV/film people.

Yeah we have a console for the average gamer. It's called the retron 5

Tim Worthington's NESRGB board is a colour emulator. Unless you're playing a Playchoice 10 game on an original cabinet, original hardware doesn't create an RGB image, the RGB colour is not original. Composite is the most 'genuine' NES image.I just don't understand it. It's an emulator. Why bother collecting original carts if you're then going to just use an emulator. Each to their own of course but it wouldn't do for me at all. And the vinyl comparison is a good one. Surely you buy vinyl for its distinct sound. I know everyone's different but if you're spending big money on carts etc surely you want the best out of them

An XRGB is a CRT emulator.
The issue with the Retron is execution, not the idea. If it was nice hardware that emulated as well as, say, the Wii does, and cost a lot less than an RGB modded NES plus a Framemeister, that would be a pretty nice box for a lot of people.
The issue that has created the market is that LCDs have completely shit scalers in them, particularly for composite and 240p, so actual genuine original hardware looks like garbage on any TV currently available. I haven't experienced the Retron myself, but I'd be guessing it does look better than a real Fami/NES on modern TVs. Might be moving from a 2/10 to a 4/10 image, but that's still an improvement.
I mean I personally am all the way down the rabbit hole, I plug my $300 RGB AV Famicom and FDS into my $300 Framemesiter and use my original carts and disks in it. But most people don't have $600 just to make their 30 year old games look better.
Really a original Wii that's modded with component to CRT is the best option for a lot of this stuff on a budget. probably cost you $75 at most to play all of Genesis, SNES, NES, TG16, sega cd, game boy, game gear, master system, etc libraries on CRT with reasonably good quality.
Yes it's one tiny step down the path of emulation, the other is the whole mile. My point being just that 'emulator' by itself isn't a dirty word.We had the discussion a while back about Evil Tims board and whether it constituted emulation. It's kind of a stretch to compare what it is doing with a traditional emulator. I concur that the execution is disastrous with the Retron 5 though

RGB to component on a practically free CRT looks damn amazing IMO. Clear as hell without the fake ass, super sharp pixel look at far less cost. Plus lightguns.

It's kind of funny to see them talking about the Analogue NT as if it is a thing that exists. I understand why they're doing it; it might someday and their video should remain relevant etc.
But man. I don't think that thing is ever going to exist.
And even if it will exist, it will fall right on its ass.
I'd really be shitting my pants if I were Christoph. I would imagine he did in fact use all the money he got for r&d and production, and he doesn't have what was promised to show for it. Port strike my ass.
Not to mention his prototype board doesn't even include the components to produce rgb.

I remember you mentioning that. Seems like he needs the viletim board still right?
Man, what's he going to do for the HDMI? Gut a bunch of those shifty scart to HDMI dealers?
I would get an Analogue NT if it was a real thing honestly.
Even as just backup hardware.
Is Christoph posting anywhere anything about the delays? His Facebook page has gone dead silent and he was chased out of NG with pitchforks. Is there some Nintendo forum he still posts on?

First of all, I’m not going to give them promotion by linking them. If you don’t know what this is about, Google it or be happy you haven’t been exposed to their astroturfers on various game forums.
Analouge is a company well known in the Neo-Geo community for being scammers who sell very overpriced products with poor workmanship.
This is what’s inside of the $650 wood Neo-Geo they were selling before they moved on to the NES.
The major problem with their aluminium NES is that they cannibalize real systems to provde parts (CPU and PPU) for it, making these systems less available for normal people on the used market, to create an expensive fanshion accessory for rich people. They are also buying up all the NES/Famicom controllers they can get their hands on to resell them on their website for $30-50. Please don’t support this sort of cynical exploitation of your hobby.
Whenever you’re considering spending a large amount of money, look at the ad copy of the product very carefully. Ask yourself if the people trying to sell it to you seem sincere. Understand that news reports you see about products often contain only information provided by the maker of the product. Don’t get caught up in hype.
I would have considered an Analog NT if it was half its price and I had the possibility to use my own harvested CPU and PPU. Also the it's AV-out is still quite nebulous, I need a pinout to know what I'm up against. I would have loved a Scart socket for maximum compatibility instead of having to deal with their own overpriced cable or random cheap cables on eBay.
Oh wow...This post from a year ago told me everything I needed to know about Analogue Nt, lol.
