My 30+ carts are hidden somewhere in my garage (or it was used as part of the garage's new foundation). This thread is accelerating my desire to just grab a lot from eBay and hope for the best.

ARGH! Picked up a 2 dollar copy of Hogans Alley at a flea market hoping it would have a Famicom converter.. All the signs were there.. 5 screws, no latch, flat head screws..
Open it up and NOPE!
That's not obnoxious at all.

After watching the Mr. Gimmick GCCX episode, I really want to play it but I don't think it's possible.![]()
My top 5 favorite games include
1. Super Mario Bros. 3
2. Kirby's Adventure
3. Final Fantasy III (JP)
4. The Magic of Scheherazade
5. Crystalis
Possibly my first system that I ever played (through my cousins since they owned a NES).
Picked up a few things this weekend:
Nothing major, but picked up a few things no collection is complete without (plus Robocop 2). Mega Man 1-3 down, need the last three now.
^nice haul hero, id jump on all 4
didn't know about that famicm converter thing though, that's pretty handy to have...id need some famicom games first though, heh
Repro it.

Nice job getting tmnt3. If you haven't played it yet your in for a treat![]()
Speaking of Mr Gimmick, was the Japanese release always so expensive as well? I was under the impression that it was relatively cheap compared to the western release, but last cartridge I saw on ebay ended at $205 and it wasn't even in very good condition. I have the western cart, but I had hoped to get the Japanese one CIB because of the awesome hard case and cute cover art, as well as the fact that it has that sound chip and plays in 60hz. =/
Anyone know what they usually go for IN Japan? They didn't even mention that it was rare or anything in Game Center CX, which they have done for some other games IIRC.
2-3 years ago a complete copy went for about $300-$350 on eBay. Now it's going for over $500. Carts went for about $120.
Damn straight, haha. Here's some input on pricing in Japan from 2011: http://famicomblog.blogspot.se/search/label/GimmickHmm ok that was still pretty expensive then. I dunno where I heard it was "cheap" haha.
Congrats man. Have you played NES Dracula's Curse? I swear that game makes Castlevania 1 look like a cake walk! And finally beat Castlevania 1 for the first time today -

Big fan of the series...but damn if Castlevania 1 is maddeningly annoying at times.

Star Soldier, Super Star Force, Famicom Jump and Takahashi Meijin no Bugutte Honey
Death was my only obstacle in the first one (FUCKING BOOMERANGS!)Congrats man. Have you played NES Dracula's Curse? I swear that game makes Castlevania 1 look like a cake walk!
How would I go about doing that?
I know RetroUSB used to make it but, other than that, I'm at a loss.

Dracula's Curse is a lot more difficult, but still manageable to me. I just hate the owls in the forest.

I know i've seen someone else make it too...i'd like to get the game at some point as well. Probably wont be a Famicom version since its too expensive/ doesnt play correctly on the NES.
Thanks for the link. Saving it for down the line. $68 a bit steep right now.

Dem 100 yen..
the prices of lots of the games on gamecenter CX seem to be going up just by virtue of being on GCCX, due to jerks like me needing to buy all the games from the show. I went to a store in Tokyo that actually had a semi offical section for GCCX games and they were all kinda expensive.

$8 is a great price for that game.O_O
Man what a lucky bastard! lol
Reminds me a little of when I found a Devil World cartridge for cheap in this bazaar type thing where you can sometimes find old games. Well it wasn't 100 yen cheap, it was like $8 and they wouldn't bugde on the price. But that's still low compared to online prices. Felt like the luckiest guy that day haha.
A fellow Swede?? I remember looking at some new copies of Mr. Gimmick in a bargain bin at Stor & Liten back in 1994-1995 and thinking "lol this is sum old shit SNES rulez lololo"I like how they kind of lie in that link up there. "Didn't make it to the NES"? Well it did, but only in Scandinavia for some weird reason hah. Speaking of the SCN version, it now regularly goes for 2000-2500 SEK ($305-$380) for a cartridge on Tradera.com...
And now for some AV Famicom RGB goodness hooked up to the XRGB-Mini. Looks even better on screen. Best money i ever spent:

So... I want an NES.
I never had one, but I have a few games I purchased every now and then for it.
Where can I find one that is not overpriced as FUCK?
I need to play Mega Man 2 on its perfect console.
Hell, I even want to play Contra.
Any ideas?

If anythone wants a nice screen for their NES etc I would go check a local Goodwill for a CRT.
I was at one by my mother's a few weeks ago on a whim and they had a nice 26 inch Trinitron (with the flat glass) for $20. I was tempted but I already have my old and reliable Commodore 1702.
Not too long ago, such a television cost hundreds upon hundreds of dollars and are some of the best.
That's how I got my $25 36 inch Sony XBRThing is a dream, 6 inputs, memory stick pro input etc
Isn't that an HD CRT?
