Oh.

My grandfather came to this land in 1920 and he landed in Jaffa, and very shortly after he landed he went to the immigration office in Jaffa. And a few months later it was burned down by marauders. These attackers, Arab attackers, murdered several Jews, including our celebrated writer Brenner.

And this attack and other attacks on the Jewish community in 1920, 1921, 1929, were instigated by a call of the Mufti of Jerusalem Haj Amin al-Husseini, who was later sought for war crimes in the Nuremberg trials because he had a central role in fomenting the final solution. He flew to Berlin. Hitler didn’t want to exterminate the Jews at the time, he wanted to expel the Jews. And Haj Amin al-Husseini went to Hitler and said, "If you expel them, they'll all come here." "So what should I do with them?" he asked. He said, "Burn them."

On its validity:

This statement is almost too absurd to debunk, but for the record, Haj Amin al-Husseini met Hitler in November 1941. Although the origins of the Final Solution itself have been hotly debated among historians, we do know that by March of that year Hitler was openly talking about a need to make sure the “Jewish-Bolshevik elite” would be killed, as well as “all Jews and card-carrying Communists” in the lands that Germany was taking from the Soviet Union; this order was carried out by Heinrich Himmler, who delivered these instructions to the Einsatzgruppen on March 13th, 1941. The phrase “complete solution of the Jewish question” was first uttered by Nazi leader Hermann Goering who gave the task to SS General Reinhardt Heydrich on July 31st, 1941. The killing centers in Poland were organized under so-called Operation Reinhard, and work on these units began in October 1941, a month before the Mufti visited Jerusalem.

I learned a long time ago that pretty much anything that Netanyahu says is bullshit to some degree - this particular instance happens to particularly bullshitty.

Does he really think a conversation like that could have taken place?
Hitler beeing unsure about what to do with the jews and then following the instructions of some random arab.
This is so absurd...

Moreover, why would Hitler even give a fuck if German and Polish Jews fled to Jerusalem?

Oh so now we're rewriting history and it's not the nazis who exterminated the jews but the moslems ?

Time to update the history books.

Haj Amin al-Husseini had no influence over Hitler's decision making, and I'm sure Hitler only entertained a meeting because of some political advantage he wanted to gain from it. They met in December of 1941, by which time some close to Hitler had already told him the war was lost, which he angrily rejected.

The holocaust was born out of the recognition that the war was not going as the Germans had planned. Germans therefore moved away from sporadic killing to an institutionalized showdown with the ideological and racial enemy of Nazism, the Jews.

Shame on Benjamin Netanyahu for lying to suit his political purposes.

I need gifs for this please. Somewhere he is using the enemy of my enemy logic which clearly means that they are all in cahoots against him. Does this qualify as narcissism?

Bibi will say literally anything to keep his radical base galvanized.

He lost all credibility with his shameless vote grab "there will never be a Palestinian state...oh I won? J/K we will continue to work towards peace."

He should run for US office. He's got Rove's shtick down, only with a heavy dose of Brigadier General Jack D. Ripper for that extra dollop of batshit warcockery.

So in effect, Netanyahu is trying to stir up violence against Palestinians so that the Palestinians will either get weaker and more marginalized, or they will fight back against their oppressors and get killed for terrorism against Israelis.

What an absolute whack job. This is on par with believing in the illuminati or eurabia conspiracies.

Be sure to ask him about the moon landings next time

I usually respect Bibi but this is nonsense from someone who should know much better. Not sure what he's trying to achieve here as I doubt many Israelis would believe that arabs are the ones that convinced Hitler to carry out the final solution.

Isn't the thread title misleading? Netanyahu claims that al-Husseini convinced Hitler to exterminate the Jews. That is ludicrous. He was certainly an influential figure, he met Hitler in 1941, he lived in Germany from 1941 to 1945, he was in contact with important Nazis and unquestionably a truly despicable person, but the idea that it was him who convinced Hitler is baseless.

It is a baseless statement. I think the only (very, very) vague indication is a supposed statement by Dieter Wisliceny. It's nothing and no (sane) historian would agree with Netanyahu. It's truly shameful behaviour by him.
