Publisher NetEase Games and developer 24 Entertainment Lin'an have announced Blood Message, a cinematic, single-player, linear story-driven aadventure game currently in development for unspecified consoles and PC.

About

Blood Message is a cinematic, single-player, linear story-driven action adventure currently in development for PC and consoles. Powered by Unreal 5 Engine and enhanced with proprietary tools and technologies by the studio, Blood Message is NetEase Games' first AAA single-player title, blending brutal survival combat with profound Eastern storytelling.

Blood Message introduces a forgotten odyssey of loyalty and survival where players join Dunhuang's uprising, taking control of a nameless messenger and his young son in this immersive third-person action-adventure. Caught in the crossfire of a righteous uprising and driven by loyalty to both family and country, players will embark on a perilous eastward journey to deliver a message that holds the fate of their war-torn homeland. Amidst the shifting sands of history, they will etch a final tale of loyalty.

Set during the final years of the Tang Dynasty, players will traverse a treacherous 3,000-li (around 1,000 miles) odyssey back to Chang'an, the heart of the Tang Empire. Cross lethal landscapes including desolate deserts and the vast wilderness of East and Central Asia to survive brutal sieges, unforgiving terrain, and overwhelming odds. The game's setting in the last years of the Tang Dynasty provides a cultural landmark of Chinese history that frames the story with customs, culture, and rich history of the era.

How can countless ordinary people—smaller than dust—leave a mark on history? The Blood Messagedevelopment team offers this answer: The remembrance and praise of future generations become their eternal monument.

The game invites players to step into the shoes of unsung heroes—not emperors or generals—but ordinary people driven by extraordinary resolve. As part of a righteous uprising in Shazhou, Dunhuang, the father and son must navigate a collapsing world, torn between duty to country and love for family. When history forgets, warriors remember. The world has heard too many stories of emperors and generals—Blood Message is an ode to the unsung heroes.

It looks great, and I know that Netease has been trying to get into the AAA space lately witih some of their titles.

However, I need to wait for them to announce a price, because Netease has some red flags that tend to pop up around release.

If it is free to purchase, that's the first red flag.

That looks good, will need to see more of Ghosts 2 to see how it matches up. Sucker Punch may need to up their game.

I got some Hellblade 2 vibes from the little gameplay parts they showed.

Anyway, the setting seems awesome and the graphics looks great... Hopefully the gameplay won't disappoint.

Between this and Soul Caliber, action games are getting more dynamic and that's a good thing. If this is real, the way the fighting flows is insane.

I've always wished for games like this set in chinese history, so definitely buying this, hopefully someday we get to see a game set during the reign of li shimin of tang and how he came to the throne after the xuanwu gate incident

That's the first thing that came to my head too especially the combat. This is the type of experience ninja theory shouldve done with hellblade 2 instead of the snoozefest that turned off alot of ppl.

Looks phenomenal visually, but if it's another fucking Dark Souls clone, I'm gonna *flip*

I know China doesn't have a culture beyond copying ideas, but they latched on to precisely one style of gameplay since they became relevant in the console/PC space, and they will NOT let it go.

just don't be another soulslike
soulslike nowadays just like that everybody trying to do a military FPS just like COD in 7 gen

So much Uncharted vibes. Its crazy that Sony decided to leave this particular type of genre untouched this generation.

Did you even watch a second of the trailer? It's literally a completely different genre…

For all the copyright violations they do using Command & Conquer (and especially Red Alert 2), it is interesting that no one in China wants to make a new RTS game.

Genre is essentially dead (went niche) and it's not like it was very popular in China. And these games main target is home market.

The trailer looked great. But I assume that as usual most of what we seen in the video was CG or the game running in a NASA PC with postprocessing and the final gameplay will be severy downgraded and/or running at a low framerate. Let's hope I'm wrong and the final game running in PS5 looks pretty similar.

China can absolutely outperform and outwork western developers. They do follow a similar template in most of their games though, they're mostly action. But what I played so far, such as Wukong, was highly impressive.
