NetEase Games announces AAA single-player action adventure game Blood Message

Eh need to see proper gameplay, this all looked like a scripted qte of something…visually looks great though

UE5 devs finally starting to really show what the engine can do.

UE5.5+ please.

Didn't particularly care about Wukong but this looks right up my alley, inject it into my veins.
The fact they didn't give a release window means it's still probably way off though.

Publisher NetEase Games and developer 24 Entertainment Lin'an have announced Blood Message, a cinematic, single-player, linear story-driven aadventure game currently in development for unspecified consoles and PC.

Visually Amazing but I fear this is gonna play the same as Marvel 1943 probably will. Like a walking story game with small action scenes highly scripted.

4 mins of footage and you can't tell what type of game it is, lol. Guess they have the naughty dog inspiration down, constantly moving forward while cool stuff happens, battles or sandstorms or avalanches or whatever but with a Chinese epic theme instead of male tomb raider or whatever.

I need to see real, unedited gameplay but so far I'm interested. China really step up this gen and I love it. Some really interesting settings in those games.

it will be the usual chinese button mashing shit with huge technical downgrade

Looks very NetEase-ie....

All the graphics, made in China, bland and soulless, and will play as such.

Its Japan making bland and soulless games. Not China. Nothing but ugly ass PS3 looking games and generic anime trash out of Japan. :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Meanwhile in China. FIRST TIME game makers are giving us games like Black Myth: Wukong and THIS

This game legitimately looks more exciting than any character action game out of Japan in at least 10 years. And its from some random Chinese studio on their first time making a AAA game.. Wait til these guys get comfortable and start pumping out sequels. Gonna be even better.

They work fast, have way more talent, and dont need 300 million to make a game.. Black Myth cost 40 million.

A 40 million dollar Japanese/ Western game would like like a PS3 title and take 8 years to develop.

short answer... no

chinese games are literally just, game that exists already with a new skin on top and UE5.

Also those studios aren't first time game makers, they've just been allowed to focus on something other than mobile which is where they get their crazy amount of cheddar from to make "cinematic" games.

Show me a Japanese character action game with better visuals, a more creative boss fight, and better animations than that Phantom Blade Zero video. You cant

I dont want to either, because all you are talking about is how a chinese company spent many millions in copying multiple different projects, bosses are clearly taken by from soft, animations and combat taken from platinum games and so on and so forth.

when china releases something that is wholely original then maybe i'll pay attention but much like literally every other business they are in , they take what works and slap a different logo on and do it with essentially slave labor and poor work conditions.

You dont think Wukong is creative/Unique?

Arguably my most anticipated game of the year... But in no way is it more impressive than that Phantom Blade Zero gameplay trailer. Noooo way. Animations alone are in a different league in PBZ.

Besides the main character and the story it's based on, what made it unique among the countless other FromSoft clones.

I think they are all bland and they all don't hit the same highs as a fromsoft game because those games are missing the X-factor that cloning can't reproduce.

Lords of the Fallen, P. Boy or whatever it's called, The Surge, Wukong, they are all "soulslikes" but none of them ever actually achieve what makes a From Software game amazing.

It's the same as all these chinese clone splintercell games and metal gear games that keep getting attention too, when everything is so soulless and a blatant reskin then the product is just meh overall.

I couldn't give two fucks about how amazing the UE graphics are, hellblade 2 is arguably the best looking thing out there but as a game it may as well be a powerpoint presentation considering it barely is a game.

So until a chinese game releases that is actually it's own thing with it's own identity, im just gonna consider it graphical slop.

Let's not pretend China dev did it all on their own. The are clearly inspired by past action games made from Japanese devs and there is nothing wrong with that. If anything, we should praise Chinese dev for their effort in creating brand new AAA game with their own touch that can rival the best of Japanese games.

Gaming in the west is saved by the east, ie Eastern Europe and East Asia.

Wukong stands on its own. Such a legit boss ass game.

Hundreds of unique bosses, incredible graphics, God of War level production values, Art style that goes toe to toe with the best of FromSoft, amazing combat, unique and original Chinese mythology story..

I HATE Soulslikes and all From games, if this felt anything like those games, I would hate it too. But it feels completely different. Not similar at all to Dark Souls..

Lies of P, Lords of Fallen, etc.. Those are what I consider Souls clones... Not Wukong.

I understand what you're saying/. But I'm willing to give these Chinese studios a pass, because for many of them, it's literally their first try at an AAA game.. If they are pumping out this quality on their first try.. The future is blindingly bright.

I wonder if some people actually watch the trailer or just post the first bullshit about China saved as draft. Some posts are quite something.

Your prejudices and silly politics speaking here. Sorry dude, show me ONE SINGLE GAME that is not based on a previous work. This claim is wild, besides illiterate. "Slave labor" lmao, what the fuck are you even talking about.

"Cinematic, narrative-driven"

Click a random point in the trailer and he's squeezing through a tight gap and then crouch walking for stealth kill. Then lots of Awesome Hollywood Stunts animations.

The graphics and some of the art look amazing for sure, not knocking it, but gameplay segments are less than zero interest from me. Utterly bored of this style of spectacle-first Michael Bay movie game.

Death stranding. name one other game like it.
Breath of the wild, besides ubisoft towers it's wholly unique.
outer wilds.
the witness
animal well.
Katamari
Grand Theft Auto

like these are just games off the top of my head.

all regions and developers have taken and created their own things with their own flares which is what makes gaming fun.

but i haven't seen China do that yet and it's got nothing to do with politics. Sometimes you can just see how things are and not be a "racist" or "sexist" or whatever ist or phobe you want to imply.

Chinese cars are just European cars with a new logo, Chinese phones are just Korean phones with a new label, Chinese clothes and brands are just International brands with a new label.

and so far the games they have put out have been the same. Now like i have said before when they release their shadow of the colossus or their Tomb Raider etc, then i'll give them attention. But as of now it's just a copy factory.

No one says you aren't allowed to like the game.

it's still just a clone that lacks the X factor. Some people are ok with that like you are, to me it's just slop with UE5 megascans.

I mean the fact that you hate from games and love Wukong is showing a clear bias. Of course you wouldnt see it as a clone if you hate what it is ripping off almost verbatim.

wukong is as much a souls clone as Lies of P or any other game in the same vein.

I am not willing to give clones a pass personally. I want originality and inventiveness, not just a thing I have played before with a new skin, it's why I hate most modern AAA western games too, because they have become the same.

Animations and some of the graphic are impressive but if it is another uber scripted hb2 experience or even another uncharted i'm not interest .

Btw the name for the op is already taken, Blood message OT: Unchinaed.

Some serious bs here
Chinese electric cars way ahead of European. ZTE Nubia Red Magic is the only phone with under-display front camera that is completely flat (Iphone look like stone-age compared to it). Half of planet dream of copying Genshin, game made by Chinese company.
Chinese made 3d anime a thing when everyone else failed, as a result they can afford making very high quality assets games, unlike Japan that still stuck with PS3 level assets.
Yes, they copied a lot as it is how you learn - starting from copying others. But in many fields they are way past this phase.
