Netflix |OT| Where Binge Watching is Encouraged

How hard would it be to set up a VPN to a known computer and would Netflix be able to block that?

If I could set up a VPN to my inlaws in Japan, my wife would be able to watch her Japanese shows (and English shows w/ subtitles) on Netflix, Japan Hulu, etc with ease. Both of our connections are solid connections that shouldn't pose an issue and both me and her dad are technically inclined.

I was never a big fan of Friends, so I only watched the occasional ep here and there. Now that the entire series is on Netflix, I've decided to give it a shot and start from the beginning. Not sure if I'll be able to make it all the way, 8 eps into s1 and it's only decent at its best. Maybe I need to get to later seasons. 234 episodes though...

I immediately recognised Susan as Gretchen from BrBa though, Jessica Hecht

Season 1 and 2 is pretty mediocre. I recently watched it, and yeah ... my brother thought it was middling.

Last ep I watched had this:

Which was one of the funniest moments so far. It hasn't been great, but I'm not going to skip ahead. Going to sit through all these seasons til I get to the better stuff.

Happy Valley Season 2 (TV, Drama, Crime)

The first season of this was a ridiculously good dark police drama, from the UK, centering on a part of England usually ignored in these sort of police procedurals, with a fantastic female lead cop. Looking forward to the next series.

I thought the first season of Happy Valley was a by-the-numbers, but well made, cop show (of which there are dozens coming out of the UK), but nevertheless I'm looking forward to watching the second season.

Man I need a Winter Soldier fix before Civil War hits. I hope they bring it to US in April. (Yes I know I could Redbox it but I'd rather have it on standby).

Since its already out in European markets, would this be likely?

The first Captain America isn't on Netflix, I doubt the second one is coming anytime soon. If you have a VPN that works, the movie is up in Euro markets.

Wasn't it before? Maybe I'm thinking about Avengers.

From a marketing standpoint, and the deal they made with Disney, you'd think it'd be a no brainier to put it up there.

Been binge-watching Parks and Recreation since the beginning of the semester, on Season 6 currently. I'm lowkey dreading the ending, but it's definitely gonna be a show I rewatch.

I've been watching Nat Geo's Underworld. I actually think I have learned something with every episode I watch which is a good thing.

Their Disney deal is only for films that hit in 2016 and after, so it's not included. Who knows, Netflix could go and buy the rights but their financial exposure to Marvel films is already very significant and they may be wary of putting more of their spending power in one basket.

Garbage movie selection. Seems like every month they just readd something they took off the month before. Nothing new to be excited for.

As usual, you have the studios to blame for this, not Netflix. Reed isn't holding board meetings to demand more stagnant content. ;)

That's why you treat it like any cable TV channel. Come for the TV and be thankful when they actually run a movie you like.

Before you could have said use a DNS blocker, but now we are back to 'subscribe for the TV shows.'

I miss Unblock.

Near the end of Friends s1, and I'm already enjoying it more. Think I'm set for the entire run now. Are there any weak seasons in the bunch?

Do you think movies are just public domain or something outside North America??

Their catalogue in many regions is very small, especially compared to the US. Said catalogue would be bigger if Netflix bought the rights for more shows/movies in said region.
It's a pretty simple concept.
