Netflix |OT| Where Binge Watching is Encouraged

Wow. Just finished Grace and Frankie season 2. This show is just fun to watch yet deals with serious issues artfully. And I get that the drama comes quick to keep from dull moments but I can see a lot of these being real problems with relationships, family and friends. And what an amazing mic drop ending by these fucking girls.
My wife is watching this. I'll be walking past and hear Lily Tomlin say, "this is not my lube! My vagina knows the difference!"

LOL

Netflix In Talks For Iraqi War Drama ‘Sandcastle’ And Closes ‘Wheelman’

Netflix is getting on the board in a big way here in the waning days of the Cannes market. It has closed a $10 million deal for Wheelman, the Jeremy Rush-directed action film that will star Frank Grillo. Sources say they are also in talks to pay around $13 million for Sandcastle, the Fernando Coimbra-directed drama that stars Henry Cavill, Nicholas Hoult, Tommy Flanagan, Glen Powell and Logan Marshall-Green. That deal is in the process, but I’m hearing that is how it is looking right now for the drama that was written by Chris Roessner, based on his experience as a machine gunner in the Iraq Sunni Triangle. Hoult plays a soldier who comes to repair a broken water system. It becomes a powder keg as some villagers welcome the effort and others are suspicious. The soldiers guarding him try to keep the tensions from escalating into a full-scale life-and-death situation.

Netflix in the meantime closed world on Wheelman. Grillo has been poised to get his own starring vehicle after showy turns in Captain America: Civil War, The Purge and the MMA series The Kingdom. He gets that chance in Wheelman, playing a getaway driver fighting for his life in a car full of cash after a bank robbery goes all wrong. At stake is his family as he tries to figure out who double-crossed him. Rush wrote the script. Producing is Joe Carnahan (Grillo starred in his film The Grey), along with Myles Nestel for The Solution Entertainment Group (which financed this) and Grillo, who’s making his producing debut. J. Todd Harris, Chady Mattar and Scott Silver are executive producing.

I remember Netflix saying they're going to use a new streaming technology. Something that uses less data but doesn't degrade image quality. What's the latest on that, anyone know?

Finished s1 of Daredevil. Great show. Not just great superhero show. Great show. Period.

Others have indicated this was slow at times, but frankly I thought it was engaging throughout. Great performances, and Donofrio as always is amazing.

I know what you are referring to. I forgot the name of it (if it has a name). They are suppose to be rolling it out to every country by the end of this year.

And yeah, it's every device.

Imagine a Conan movie with Larry the Cable Guy as Conan but the movie is played out 100% straight faced and its never addressed that he's an anachronistic, redneck wearing a sleeveless shirt.

Netflix Orders First Original Series from Argentina: Daniel Burman’s ‘Edha’
Netflix has ordered its first original series from Argentina, the 13-part dramatic thriller “Edha,” created and directed by film-TV helmer Daniel Burman, a leading light of the New Argentine Cinema (“Lost Embrace,” “Empty Nest”) and now Latin American premium TV creation.

Filmed entirely in Argentina, “Edha” will start production in Buenos Aires, begin shooting early next year, and debut exclusively on Netflix around the globe in 2017. Written by Daniel Burman, Mario Segade and the writers’ room at Oficina Burman, “Edha” is billed by Netflix and Burman as a story of dark secrets and overpowering attractions. It centers on Edha, a young, goimg-places fashion designer and single mother.

At a crossroads that could change her life forever, she is struggling to make a decision that will take her to a whole new level in the fashion world when she meets a handsome immigrant-turned-model. Their savage passion is mingled with his profound desire for revenge.
Eh.

Watched that and They Look Like People over the weekend. Both solid horror films.

I watched TLLP a few days ago, I really enjoyed it. It kept me interested and was a great look into
mental illness.

I wouldn't classify it as a horror movie though. It was more along the lines of a thriller.

Thoroughly enjoyed "They Look Like People" after hearing about it in this thread. Thanks for the recommendation folk. Definitely kept me interested right all the way through.

Red vs Blue Volume 4 (TV, Comedy)

Season 13 was added some time ago, but I notice that the seasons have been organized. All videos in the season are still stitched together, but each season is its own separate season instead of 13 "episodes" in one season.

Never really got in to American Horror Story, but a recommendation from a co-worker to start on S3 got me back to watching. Kathy Bates is pretty damn good.

Someone recommended S3 to you? Definitely not where I'd start watching. I thought S3 was where the show started going downhill big time.

I liked Season 3 for the first couple episodes but it quickly went in the direction I was hoping ti wouldn't. Watched 1 episode of Freakshow and bailed.

More praise on They Look Like People and We Are Still Here.

Both were immensely satisfying in completely different ways. Even my fiancee (who normally doesn't love horror films) really liked both of them.

Gentlemen and Gangsters: Season 1
If this is the Swedish tv series (and it seems quite likely); It's very good and you should be watching it. This is a Swedish trailer. And this is an English friendly trailer for the film version, but should suffice to give a hint to what the show is.
If nothing else for the chance of it being popular would make Netflix bring over The Laser Man, or How Soon is Now? which are by the same director and utterly, utterly brilliant. (both featuring cinematography by Hoyte van Hoytema at that)
It does however like David Simon say "Fuck the casual viewer", and says it quite loudly.

Oh man, I hope Spotlight is a global deal. (I think I remember reading Netflix has one of those for The Big Short)

If Second Coming is the film I'm thinking of, I believe Mark Kermode highly recommended it.
