Netflix |OT| Where Binge Watching is Encouraged

I will have to check those two out. I remember reading the in the Netflix Proxy thread that Getflicks stopped working.

It will be interesting to see if Smart can keep it up.

Getflix stopped working but they have test servers for the US and UK that work right now. At least the UK one worked for me last week. The rest of the regions don't work but they intend to eventually apply the new method to the new regions so it might be a matter of time.

where your standards netflix?

The Ranch is a good show. People hate it either for the laugh track or the people involved.

There's kind of a weird character change for Danny Masterson in the second half but generally I think it's a solid sitcom. Very standard and, of course, many people will find the sort of CBS formula combined with cursing jarring at first but that's just because they're not used to it. It's not really forced just new to people. What stands out far more are the couple of layup political jokes made but that's primarily because they're feel like they come from left field and are only there to reinforce the idea that, "yup.. Cowboy types are Anti-Dems."

But it's a solid little sitcom and entertaining enough if you just want something to watch.

Finished binging Sons of Anarchy. Started strong in s1, slipped quite a bit in s2, sort of maintained in seasons 3 & 4, went crazy/convoluted in seasons 5 & 6, then sort of rebounded at the end of 7 to wrap things up in appropriately Shakespearean fashion.

Overall I liked it. Probably 3/5 motorcycles.

Patton Oswald's stand-up wasn't bad. Got some good chuckles. I liked him in Justified so I gave it a shot.

I'm digging the Netflix Original anime called "Ajin". It's got a dark and gritty look to it that I find pleasing. As someone who doesn't watch a lot of anime anymore I gotta say this one grabbed me. It's got an interesting premise and has a great sense of urgency. Not bad.

Yeah finished it last night. Pretty good. It keeps building up and up as the season goes. Looking forward to season 2. I kinda dig it more than Knights of Sidonia (
especially that weird harem anime plotline
in season 2).

Finished up the new season of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. It was really good and a solid season. It had me laughing all throughout the season. I think the best parts were the cameos and song parodies.

Started up a new show and new season.

Started Twin Peaks. The first episode was...weird. Weird is probably not the best word for it. It kinda pulled me in, and at the same time, kinda didn't.

Also started the second season of Daredevil. So far so good.

Goosebumps next week.

And GK, the first episode of TP is more tied into the second season than the first. S1 barely has any of the Real Plot (supernatural stuff).

Forget that. Somewhere within the last week something must have changed, barely works anymore, too bad.

Edit: Well, Borderlessinternet seems to do the trick though. Even regions like Brazil, Sweden or India are working for me right now based on a short test.

Just watched Happy Valley season 2 over the last couple days and loved it. Lots of super tense moments. Wasn't sure what to expect going in, but I think it lived up to my lofty expectations after enjoying season 1 so much. Highly recommended, and truly a great example of quality over quantity (6x hour-long episodes per season).

spoilers...
The cop who killed Vickie.....goddamn. Probably one of the most stressed out characters I've seen in a while. The way he just zoned out into worrying and his weird elated moments when things went his way were great. His storyline was my favorite of the season because of how filled with tension it was.

One of the few shows that didn't jump ship in the second series
I really love the ending scene too, Catherine watching her grandson with that look of fear in her eyes..

I believe a third series is coming, but it won't be for a couple of years yet

Not a suburra then

Will have to wait and see. They probably get a handful of episodes to review.

House of Cards S4 was looked upon as being bad, but they only got five episodes to review. It was after the fifth episode that it really took off.

Started watching Africa last night. I'm not a nature doc guy but wow is this amazing. So beautiful and I have no idea how the camera people get the shots they do.

Speaking of docs - anyone have history doc recs? Preferably about time periods 1930s or earlier and not involving war?

Edit: US Netflix

So Marseille is on Netflix, I'll give it a try

First impressions: Not bad, but not great either, the love aspects came off corny, the direction has some bad moments but is serviceable. The exploration of Barres character is quite interesting, and the portrait of people in power and surrounding it is quite realistic

How many episodes have you seen? I'm tempted, but having watched all of Borgen this year I feel like it might be best to watch.. If you haven't watched it the Borgen is a must watch (a bit ot as not on netflix). It is the best political drama that I have ever seen.

Why are strippers at the U.N. bad when they're great at strip clubs???
Just binge watched the entire second season of Grace and Frankie, it's really good.

The writers did a fabulous job here, and the pacing is fluid comparatively to the first.

All in all, A+
