I like the trippy mind-f*ck things they're doing with Scarecrow. Fire-breathing horse and squirming mask and whatnot. But for God's sake, do they have to shoehorn a romance angle into every Batman movie? Please tell me they don't linger on that crap too much.

Oh, and everyone knows that there's only ONE true Batman theme. Guess which one I'm referring to.

....?

The shorter trailers didn't really seem exciting, but this newest one looks really good. The only disappointing thing is Katie Holmes. Batman Begins, Land of the Dead, and War of the Worlds all within 2 weeks!

I love Mask of the Phantasm's theme myself...haunting as fuck. Tells you immediately that this movie will kick your ass.

Argh god, that bitch from Dawsons Creek :(

And the music sucked, apart from that, im interested in this new Batman. Not excited, but interested

Looked cool, but I share the sentiment that the Elfman theme will be missed; Goldenthal even mentioned it in his scores of 3 and 4 (or at least 3; I don't really, nor would I really care to remember 4.) The Elfman score seems like THE Batman theme. I mean, Singer's using the main theme of Williams' Superman theme, just Ottman-ized up, and while I do understand that Nolan wants to make this uniquely his, it'd still be nice to hear some of it.

Wow loved every second of it ... i dont think there has ever been a summer with so many must see flicks ... Kingdom of Heaven, Star Wars, Cinderella Man, Batman, Fantastic Four, whatever im missing ...

personally I'm on the fence with the music, its definitly Zimmer stuff which is typically decent ... but it just sounds like hes still stuck in The Last Samurai

There's going to be a backlash against this movie by a lot of people I believe. Most people know Batman by the crappy earlier movies, and this movie is the most accurate-to-the-comic Batman movie ever and that's going to turn off the retards expecting nipples on the Batsuit or a neon-lit Gotham.

Why the fuck would anyone list that piece of shit as a "must see" summer movie. Yeah, it's must see if you absolutely have to see a movie so perfectly crafted to be an awards season darling. Beautiful Mind 2. No thanks.

At least put War of the Worlds in its place.

Oh, and Fantastic Four will suck. The only reason to see it is because Stan Lee was given a speaking role in it.

After Elektra/Constantine the change over has begun. Marvel movies will suck while the DC stuff will be awesome.

Elfman's music was great and all, but it wouldn't fit here. This Batman's world seems a far throw from the world in which Joker struts through Gotham on a parade float, or where penguins wander around with rockets strapped to their backs. His scores were more on the fantastical side, more surreal. As great as they were, I don't think they'd be appropriate for this Batman.

It's a completely different story with Superman, after all, Singer is literally continuing from the previous films (or at least two of them). He wants to recall those original stories, so it's only natural to capitalize on the great theme. Nolan most certainly does not want to recall the Burton films.

That said, I'm not a massive fan of Hans Zimmer. He's got some good stuff out there, but then, who knows what he actually wrote. I never did hear what happened with the lawsuit that alleged that his students were writing his scores instead of him. Still, it's Zimmer and James Newton Howard, who I think has done some stellar stuff in recent years. I won't go judging the score from the trailer. That just doesn't work.

First time I hear about that, and a quick google search reveals nothing. I find that hard to believe, anyway. All of his scores have a distinct "Zimmer-feel" to them. While I don't like what I heard in the trailer, I am a fan of his work, especially his The Last Samurai soundtrack. :p

Here's some info from where I originally found it (FilmTracks)
12/6/03 - Composer Hans Zimmer is being sued by former associate and friend, composer Jay Rifkin, ending their 30-year friendship and a 15-year professional partnership that produced the creation of the Media Ventures scoring studio enterprise. According to the $10 million breach-of-fiduciary-duties suit, Hans Zimmer has abruptly withdrawn from his co-leadership of Media Ventures and attempted to lure several composers away with him after finishing work on Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean. In some cases, this would be a breach of contract for those assistant composers. Furthermore, the suit exposes Media Ventures' "practice of hiring resident composers who 'ghosted' parts of Zimmer's motion picture scores, with Zimmer receiving main-title composer credit and keeping 'the lion's share' of the fees." Rifkin alleges that Zimmer suddenly abandoned their shared Media Ventures business and then smeared Rifkin's reputation while committing "a textbook example of breach of fiduciary duties." In response to claims that Zimmer attempted to isolate Rifkin by tarnishing his professional reputation, Zimmer's attorney has stated that Rifkin is only attempting to steal Zimmer's larger spotlight. A countersuit is expected in the coming weeks. The future of Media Ventures, meanwhile, is in considerable doubt.

They never covered the story again. I found an update from Hans-Zimmer.com with Zimmer's take from a month or two later, and that was also filled with wild accusations right back at Rifkin, alleging that this 'friend' was basically a parasite living off Zimmer's success.

Sure, it could just be some stupid baseless bitter attack on his former partner, but I was hoping to find out for sure. I haven't found even a mention of the lawsuit since early '04, which seems shady to me.

My searching also found that Ramin Djawadi is assisting Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard on the Batman Begins score.

The new Batman theme isn't even done. And the trailer music sounds like all Zimmer stuff. And it sounds a lot like The Last Samurai.

They're taking a lot of time and care with the score. I really don't think it's going to be bad. But it also won't be Elfman.

I am kind of glad about that, though. The movie gives off a much more realistic take on Batman, and seems like a live-action variation of the cartoon and not the Burton/Schumacher bizarro world that spiraled into neon covered flames.

How spoilerific is the trailer? I hate watching trailers that take away the "whoah!" moments when you're watching a movie.

The spoilerific levels approach sub-zero.
