Since when is The Outfit impressive?

Back on topic: Black looks incredible, I wish EA would release some videos.

Compared to titles this generation it is. And hell, I really like the style and some of the effects they have going.

What platform is this on? Xbox 360 or Xbox?

PS2 pics, coming out on the ecksbocks 1.0 too.

Looks pretty amazing indeed for the PS2...but at the same time sort of generic.

Looks fucking amazing. Just a few shaders away from being as impressive as something like The Outfit.
the oufit on movement is generic shit, this game on movement is awesome

Prediction: Black will end up being one of the best FPS of this gen, and the best ever on the PS2 (though that's sort of a given). I don't really like FPS, and I've never anticipated one, but I'm dying to play this. Day 1 purchase methinks.

It's a shame Sony didn't scoop up Criterion, those guys do insane things with the PS2 hardware, and I expect even more on the PS3 (now that EA is giving them kajillions of dollars).

it looks cool

probably picking up the xbox version, don't like the ps2 controller for FPS. can never get used to the feel of the sticks.

yes that was one of the worst decisions by Sony Europe. And they bought out those Guerrilla bastards instead :(

I actually think Guerrilla was a smart purchase, and Killzone has shown the team has some serious talent. They just need a bigger budget, which Sony will give them. I actually believe that they will produce some of the most spectacular visuals on the PS3 out of any developer.

But Criterion, man oh man how good they would have been under Sony. EA is going to give them great budgets and all, but they're gonna push them to the max. Multiplatform everything, new entries in most of their series every year, etc. Sony would have given 'em time and a shit load of space. Bah!

SCEE bought Guerilla? When?

BLACK looks amazing, but PLEASE EA/Criterion release some videos. I want to see if it looks as impressive as everyone says in motion with sound. :)

Guerrilla is a Sony second party now but it's not owned by them, they just have an exclusivity contract for their games.

PS:Is Black officially 2006 now?
The European Playstation site still has it for Q4 2005.

I can't wait to see how Black turns out. It looks great, and I hope it doesn't just play like a run of the mill shooter...But knowing it's from Criterion, I can expect something more than that, so it gives me great hope :)

I can't even imagine how good Criterion would be if they could have been bought by someone else who isn't EA :( Sony would have been perfect

This looks awesome btw.

Just curious, why would this be better? Then they would be limited to just PS2/PS3 games, not multi-platform. It doesn't seem like EA is hurting the development of this title.

BTW, game looks great, Criterion has really got their sparks down

Are you sure these are PS2 in game shots. They all have full screen anti-aliasing on them.

Maybe Xbox?!?

They are touched up dev kit shots with AA and AF, pretty standard marketing crap.

looks very good but those are almost certainly heavily touched up screens, looks like 6xaa,8xaf is enabled xbox360 style.

All effort would be focused on one platform, instead of spreading resources, time, and effort across multiple platforms. But so far Criterion is handling multi-platform well.

Wow! For a PS2 game, that shit looks hot! I thought it was an Xbox or 360 game at first. And (no offense to Bish), but The Outfit ain't all that impressive. If it was a PS2 game, though, it would be amazing. But for the 360....meh. Oh yeah, PS2 doesn't do shaders. PEACE.

Dammit, I gave up halfway through a post that was already 4 times as long as that, trying to say the same thing. I need to learn to be more concise.

I think the thinking is, 'if this is how well Criterion are doing with multiplatform, imagine what they could do focusing on one platform'. With the extra resources freed up from multiplatform development either they'd be able to achieve even more impressive results, or have more projects on the go.

Sony has also proven they're willing to give their dev teams a lot of extra time for their games (Ico team, Polyphony, SCEE, etc.), whereas I'm of the mind that EA might pressure Criterion more to get their games out for the holidays, as we all know EA lives and dies by October and November every year.

Nevertheless, EA buying 'em out is a hell of a lot better than someone like Eidos or Midway.

Maybe. What I hope is that Criterion, especially with access to Renderware as a bargaining chip, were able to agree a decent amount of autonomy from the EA decision making process for themselves.

I can't think of many exclusive Sony games that MUST be released annually. Obviously I'm guessing here but I'd say Sony are far more likely to allow Criterion the time and resources to set their own deadlines ie release it's when it's finished, not when it'll sell well for Christmas

Black is not exclusive, it is coming to Xbox too.

Now, somebody tell me. Were people allowed to film the game @ Leizpig? I have yet to see some videos.

Nope, BlimBlim said no one was allowed to film the game there. Everyone says the game looks great in motion yet EA won't release any videos of it or let anyone record the videos to show.

It will not look that good on your TVs. PS2 isn't capable to these kind of graphics (anti-aliasing etc). Not even Xbox.
EA is just cheating, there are some filters on.

Nothing new there..lots of big game titles use this.

Anyone know if the White Fusion controller will work with this game? I agree, the Dual Shock is the worst for FPSs.

nobody knows this yet - but i would bet, that thq will release ps3 versions of The Outfit and Saints Row at ps3 launch.

this game is sweet looking, and you can compare it to some next gen stuff on the xbox360.

Did you happen to miss out on every single PR pic released this gen (excluding pics from Capcom and Nintendo games)?

also: look at the pillars in that first pic

This is still from the E3 build. I sat in the showing of Black and it looked downright incredible. The game was shown on PS2 hardware and it was simply mind-blowing.

Looks very bland. How about some colour, to show for one time sake that PS2 can show other hues, than variations of brown and grey?
