I missed the Carson City KS. Thought it had another day. s;lkja;lsdjk

I grabbed a Mercenary pledge as I already have the base game.

I jump on so many kickstarters right at the start, especially if there is an early bird pledge and follow them. I keep mY pledges for only a couple but at least I don't miss out on many that way.

Currently pledged to Iki, High Frontier, and Battalia but probably won't keep any of them.

Finished setting up Legendary Encounters and have a ton of extra cards and sleeves left over. Why did they print so many blank cards? Probably something to do with the printers but seems like quite the waste. But that thing was a beast and then sorting it all out...Not looking forward to Predator.

We use the extra cards as damage counters lol

And no, Amazon did not put anything on sale board game related. Anything worth a damn, at least.

Picked up Evolution for 14.99 during the Amazon Prime bullshit. That's at least something. The Marco Polo sale was trash sadly.

Bummer. I've missed probably 4 or 5 KS projects due to having my times mixed up. One would think that I would stop waiting until the past minute but I have yet to stop doing it.

the "Remind Me" feature is pretty handy to avoiding this!

i backed out of carson city at the last moment - hope to pick a previous version base game once the big box starts to hit.

Hey that's something! Everything in the U.S. Store has been mass market stuff. Monopoly, a Frozen themed Operation, etc. :(.

Near as I can tell Amazon US proper hasn't even offered Marco Polo yet, just 3rd parties selling for nearly MSRP, so I feel ya. I have a birthday coming up and want to put Marco Polo on my list, but I can't get family members to buy from any OLGS. They don't trust them! (That and the barrier to free shipping). Which is kinda funny and sad at the same time.

Yeah that sucks.

Marco Polo was only 8€ cheaper, so not really worth getting now. Amazon sometimes has better deals randomly than that. German Amazon actually had pretty good stuff today just not everything as cheap as you would like: Fresko Big Box, Alhambra Big Box, Marco Polo, Evolution, Camel Up, Andor, Istanbul...

Trajan and Castles of Mad King Ludwig were 35% off so I ordered that along with the Sea of Blood expansion for Descent 1st ed, which was like 85% off lol.

So, now that more details are out, is anyone else considering the Anniversary War of the Ring?

I've got the first CE, no need for this. But I'll order the bound manual if they end up able to do that. I'm glad people will be able to get their hands on more than 2000 sets. Hopefully in the hands of players & not just scalpers.

It's well worth the purchase - War of the Ring is still one of my favourite games.

Played a bunch of Spyfall last night. Once people get beyond the generic questions it gets fun. Being the Spy and surviving is omg so fun.

Spyfall is a lot of fun. There's an artistic take on it, too, a japanese game called "A Fake Artist Goes to New York" which you can get the rules to on BGG in english.

finally going to play it tonight, any tips besides non-generic questions?

Well, the trick is that your questions are as revealing as your answers.

It's also better to fire off a mediocre generic question quickly than to waste a ton of time thinking of a better one. Just don't ask a super obvious question

Try to be a bit deceptive. Say you've pulled the Pirate Ship, for example. You could ask someone when the last time they gambled was. People who know the location will get that that's something that could happen with pirates, but the Spy might assume you're referring to a Casino.

Be bold with your info. Make up a scenario in your mind about what you are doing at the location and roleplay. Last night on the space station I went on and on about a Monkey. Spy guesses Zoo. Play up to people's expectations.

Later we are at the Zoo and I am the spy; it's early and I am still feeling things out. Someone asks me "Do you smell that?" I respond with "YES! Did you just fart?". The smell topic lingers so I start fishing Zoo by asking "I didn't fart, did you step in something?" etc.

Obviously these are one time lines, use them once and you will have to concoct a different story.

As the spy never hesitate. Have your question or answer ready. It's not easy and it gives the sense that you know exactly where you are at whether your ideas make complete sense or not.

Oh, if you're the Spy, figure out who asks the trickiest questions, and ask THEM a question, since they can't go straight back to you.

Mottainai print run has a slight snafu; the linen effect is more pronounced than their tests. They are asking the backers if we should move forward with this run or start over. If they start over it won't be available for GenCon obviously. I voted to stick with this run, it's not that bad IMO.

Same, I think it looks nice

I really wonder what's going on with Asmadi Games's production. They're really good at consistently putting out shoddy materials.

I would have to dig it up but I would assume they are getting printed at one of the big two Chinese shops no? Do think this is an issue with the ever growing movement towards plastic and linen printing. What's wrong with plain paper!

Well isn't a "linen finish" just a treatment on the paper coating to make it feel different? It's not a weird thing like printing on plastic

Out of all that stuff, Sheriff sounds like the good starter

Speaking of Shadows Over Camelot, I played it again recently (just the base game) with a mix of newbies and experienced players. It was pretty frustrating. Every quest kept bouncing back and forth with no real progress made anywhere, the deck beat us up, and we lost via bad accusations (no one was the traitor).

I get a lot of pushback when I say this, but I think the Shadows card game does a good job of giving you a similar core of player conflict ("Are you bad at this simple game, or are you ruining us on purpose?"), just without so much bullshit.

I've had some really fun games with Shadows back before I knew much about how it worked, but I really do think it's dramatically imbalanced.

What does the expansion add?

I guess the game needs to be hard hard because it gives the traitor the opportunity to blame screwage stuff on the game, but in a lot of cases they can sit back and let the deck do all the work.

Game is hard to beat with no traitor -- harder than BSG (which is rightly considered pretty hard for the good guys, but has a lot more customization of balance you can do).

I had no idea there was a card version, I might have to check that out.

I played the game for only the second time fairly recently, but also after getting many other bluffing games under my belt (Avalon and the like). We were able to plan out and make decent progress on the board, but the other players including myself were too hesitant/lenient when the traitor made a "bad" accusation especially since he was a "new player" (he played that line up, which was cheeky as hell!).

We messed up a few rules, like the traitor getting swords for staying unrevealed until the end, but we would have lost anyways to the board even without that. It kind of felt like one of those other bluffing games gives a similar experience without having to grind through the turns on the board.

Shadows xpac adds new characters, including playable merlin, travel cards that add events to move actions and support for 8 players with 2 traitors. On top of that there is usual filling out of the card decks etc.

I just read the English version of Mysterium and I think they just turn beautiful simple game needlessly complicated. I love components but this is not a game that you need a lot of compnents. The ghost screen is nice but all the other tokens and board just make the game more fiddly for no reason. The original game is elegance and the end game could used some adjustment (we have been playing with mixed Ukranian and Polish rules for final culprit).

English rule, link swipe from BGG forum.

We have been playing the Polish version. The game was so simple to set up and play we played three games in an hour which I don't think will be possible with the English version.

That damn political track, so many fronts to fight on but limited actions per turn make it seem like your putting out a house fire with a water pistol. Lol

Really give Dawn of the Zeds serious consideration. I'm primarily a war gamer so I thought the whole zombie thing just a fad. However I've come to realise this one of VPG best States of siege to date. Highly recommended. The deluxe ships with 3 scenarios I believe.

FWIW. I've never beaten CN myself. But I've enjoyed every beating. I prefer a harder solitaire anyway. A 20% victory chance I'm cool with.

Can someone teach me how to print and play my PnP game please?

There's no printing shop in my country that does Print and Play and I have 0 knowledge in term of which paper I should use, etc. I'm considering buying a printer to help me to this myself. Not sure how hard it's gonna be.

I don't have any advice for you, sorry, but I was actually coming in here to post and see if anyone had any tips for printing BGG files.
I have been looking at the Star Wars Armada microhangers (located here) and checked with a Staples to see if they printed on 110lb cardstock. I was wondering if anyone had advice or recommendations or where to go and how to handle it though, what people's experiences were. These hangers all have the Armada logo on the front and I am already worrying that Staples is going to give me a "We can't print these for legal reasons, sorry" style statement. Anyone have better luck printing "iffy" materials with Kinkos/FedEx (I think the nearest one to me is 3hrs away compared to <5mins to a Staples) over Staples? Are there a lot of home printers that can handle 110lb cardstock (I don't have a printer at all though)? Ideas?

And neverfade: I saw your copy of Armada for sale on BGG and wanted to ask a question here rather than clutter up your auction. How did you paint your squadrons? Was it just standard primer, base, and highlights with paint? I was thinking about doing what everyone else seems to be doing and using fine-tip colored Sharpies.

I usually go to small independently own shop or even franshire one. Corporate store will not print any thing with copyright on them even if you have right to use. I try to get the instruction for Descent POD expansion print on nice paper but they refused even thought I own the game because FFG has copyright on all the logo and design.

Although I already kind of knew it tonight sealed the deal for sure. I am a Eurogamer pure and simple. Played Betrayal and Dead of Winter and just couldn't get into them all all. Betrayal was fun until the haunt where I was stuck in the basement and everyone slowly died. Dead of Winter maybe deserves another chance since we played Betrayal first but I was just bored and uninterested in it. Hard to really get into the theme I guess. Than we played Catan and I perked up and got into the zone. Wanted to play Stone Age but it was kind of late. I like Zombicide where I don't feel the need to get into the theme heavily and can just go. Kudos to those that can but I cannot although I do enjoy some elements from thematic games.

Thanks. I'll have to check if there are any small copy shops or something in the area, maybe ther is something in Columbia. I should be able to get copies of D&D character sheets though, no? Just blank sheets? They say on the bottom that photocopies can be made for personal use.
