i must admit, seeing those stages from the flyby view, they look incredible. but.... (and i'm tired of saying this) where is the self-shadowing?
Whered you play it?Johnny Nighttrain said:meh.
that goes for the gameplay as well.

on Dreamcast. i also checked out the 2 versions that they made on xbox with the upgraded graphics.PhatSaqs said:Whered you play it?
yep, that's what i do actually. be it losing credibility, getting turned down by a girl, having a shoot cancelled, losing my wallet, pretty much when anything bad happens to me, i get mad, and take it out on DoA for no good reason.Teknopathetic said:Nighttrain's just mad that he has no more street cred. It's a shame what he's reduced to now that everyone knows his insider schtick is a sham.

Cool!Johnny Nighttrain said:on Dreamcast. i also checked out the 2 versions that they made on xbox with the upgraded graphics.
Sp3eD said:The game looks amazing which leads me to believe that maybe after 4 straight gameplay failures, 5th time will finally be a charm.
Johnny Nighttrain said:and for the millionth time, i never claimed to be an insider.
C- Warrior said:Nightrain isn't the only one "trolling" (if you want to call it that) there are a chunk of people in this thread that think the games looks "Xbox 1.5" and that the gameplay won't be anything spectacular. Itagaki had how many Dead or Alive's to make great gameplay, what makes you think him and his team will rewrite the god damn fighting engine to make something Virtua Fighter comparable, fuck that--AT THE LEAST Tekken comparable.
Do I hope I'm proven wrong. Yes, of course. More money this shit worth of a series gets the more Team Ninja gets to use on new projects and other franchises I'm more fond of, but do I think it'll happen, no--I have my doubts.

how do you figure?IJoel said:he's just seeking redemption in front of the nintendo audience.
MightyHedgehog said:Right...I know you haven't played these very much then.
Troll a game not on a Nintendo system and try to earn respect of the 'tards.Johnny Nighttrain said:how do you figure?
Johnny Nighttrain said:alright captain.
please tell me about all the depth that was added with each new addition in the series. infact, i'll try to make things easier on you, so don't even worry about depth, just go ahead and tell me about all the gameplay additions that were made that made each installment different from the previous one.
enlighten me.
how do you figure?
um...this hardly has to do with it not being on a Nintendo system. or are we gonna start playing that card now? what's next, i only own Nintendo systems as well? :lolSociety said:Troll a game not on a Nintendo system and try to earn respect of the 'tards.
MightyHedgehog said:OK, this is my thing...if people want to complain that the series hasn't progressed very far, that argument is now almost 4 years old, when the last new installment of the series was released...DOA3. Now, four years later, the next new installment is being readied, with promised improvements and redesigns on the DOA3 fighting engine, and including one of the new ideas they implemented in the DOA2HC remake contained in the DOA Ultimate package, the sloping falls and throws.
Until the game is out and final, I'm confident that the engine will receive some pretty hefty redesign and improvements. Who am I to second-guess the creators of the game when I haven't even played the final version? There's certainly been no ridiculously awful history of not doing anything with each NEW installment of the series. DOA1-DOA2-DOA3 all had pretty sizable improvements and changes to the engine.
C- Warrior said:Okay, as a person who has played each Dead or Alive game, but not 'master' them or anything (so this is a cursory impression) to me the games play the exact same damn way. Like I've said, I've played them, but it's not like I discovered every new exploit or what have you to see any major gameplay changes. But then, I'm not going to sit here and say there is a major gameplay difference from lets say Tekken 3 to Tekken 5 or anything.
There is a flaw in your rationale, as far as I can tell, Team Ninja is one studio. You're right--in saying theres been a good 4 or so years between DOA3 and DOA4. But how many projects came out in between?
DOA XBV, Ninja Gaiden, Hurricane Pack 1, Hurricane Pack 2, Black, DOA:U, those are a lot of games/projects done in a 4 year span. I figure it--DOA4 has been in 'real' production for about a year / year and a half tops. Not 4 full years. No way, not even 3.

Johnny Nighttrain said:i lost even more respect for the series after all the shit Itagaki talked about Tekken.
sorry, but Itagaki is the unprofessional one here. PLEEASE supply links, scans, anything what so ever where namco has said anything bad about tecmo, team ninja, DoA, or anything for that matter.MightyHedgehog said:Actually, the Namco/Tekken guys talked shit about DOA first..to which Itagaki was only responding in kind.

you really think that the jump from DoA2 to DoA3 was as big as Tekken 2 to Tekken 3?MightyHedgehog said:Aside from personal preferences, the game has evolved just as much as the Tekken series has in the first three installments, IMO.
