New Dntel and Postal Service Material?

I remember reading that Jimmy Tamborello was working on a new Dntel album about a year ago, but I've heard nothing since. What's up with him?

And speaking of Tamborello, what's up with the Postal Service? I love Give Up (although its mushiness and popularity as a choice for weddings, etc. is slowly destroying it for me) and I want to know if they'll ever make another album or just keep milking Give Up.

id probably bet that once the new death cab cd gets done, they'll probably get back to postal service stuff.

How are they "milking" Give Up? There has been one version of the album released. If people are buying it, so be it. Both of the Postal Service guys are busy doing other stuff. They're not just sitting back and watching the money roll in, like many people seem to think.

I'm sure that at some point Tamborello and Gibbard will work on some new material, but I'm not holding my breath.

They're milking it because it's been out since 2002 and they're still releasing singles. That's ridiculous.

Death Cab is pretty awful for the most part. I like some of their older stuff but they don't deserve half of the praise they get. On top of that their fans are really annoying.

i think death cab is busy cooking up a major label release. not sure about dntel.

...try not to turn this into a Ben Gibbard hate thread again :)

What the shit? Oh well. They do deserve more exposure. I just hope to god they don't sell out and be like every other emo band that signs to a major label.

DCFC rocks because they are the great saviors of um... EMO. But it's so true! They're the only band with that kind of approach to music that I actually LIKE.

Lisa Edelstein's dad touched my private parts. True fact.
I would kill Ben Gibbard for more Figurine.

That said, I like almost anything Tamborello touches and most of the Gibbard stuff. But figurine is just too good.

Death Cab is going to a major label? WTF?

As previsouly mentioned, yes, Death Cab signed to Atlantic Records. Plans, the new album, is slated for release in late September.

Chris Walla produced Plans, it sounds like the label let the band do their own thing without any involvement. Gibbard played a few of the tracks for an independent record store conference in Seattle about a month ago, from what I heard don't expect any drastic changes.

PS is tooooo sugary. the guy whips up some nice lyrics though no doubt.
Yup.

If everyone who bought a copy of Give Up would have bought a copy of Unrest by Erlend Øye instead, the world would be a better place.

I like the Ben Gibbard + Dntel combo, but the American Analog Set + Styrofoam combo is much better. I wish there was an actual album with both of them combined. The stuff off of AAS's Updates and Styrofoam's Nothing Lost is ace.
