Yeah, at least for my group of friends in-game voice chat is generally a minor annoyance rather than a feature, since we need to figure out how to turn it off so that we don't get double voices. (The fast, high-quality one from Mumble and the invariably more delayed and lower-quality in-game one )PC will have voice chat, just run your own vc software.
I disagree that the game is looking "last gen"
I think it looks great IMO

Sorry for bumping this, I didn't want to make a new thread just for this but looks like they're sending the CBT1 invites since I received my coupon code today, anyone else?
- players can create multiple characters in a single account
- on PC specs; obviously players with high-spec PCs will be able to enjoy better graphics, but basically if you’re running a decent 3-year-old PC that met the recommended requirements of most games then you’d likely be all right
- the game design is catered towards long-term continual play; there are levelling dungeons and areas, item-based hunts/quests, as well as random/limited quests/events that pop up when viewing notices in the lobby
- can form parties with pawns or other players; like in DD/DA, the pawns are AI-controlled, but you can easily ask another player to join in
- in-game party of a maximum of four members; you can play with pawns or other Arisen (mix and match pawn-Arisen combination as you like), or even play solo
- you can even get the NPC armour like Iris’ and Leo’s
That's probably also why they're going with an F2P model - or, well, at least, that's what I'm hoping. It'd be hard to convince people to pay another $60 for more or less the same content as the original game, now with multiplayer.
Though it does raise questions about how they WILL go about monetizing aspects of the game. A stamina system doesn't seem likely, although who knows?
For the folks who can't understand the Japanese language - would you be down to play this game even if it never reaches the West?
I think I'm willing to try playing DDO in Japanese, although I'd sorely miss the pawns' banters in English.

I wouldn't just because I think the latency with an action heavy game like Dragon's Dogma would be killer. I have no issues using a fan translation or whatever but the ping would be real bad.
The Game is IP locked so you wouldn't be able to play it anyway.
Is this game even cross-play though? I don't remember seeing anything about that.
I spent an hour trying to make a Japanese PSN account and finally downloaded a beta ticket. You are telling me that the game will detect my IP and block me from playing?! Do you have a link? The Game is IP locked so you wouldn't be able to play it anyway.
Lame, but PC and PS4 should be fine with external software and party chat, respectively.Just some stuff from the developer team interview in Dengeki PlayStation:
- no voice chat
What additions are those? You could already do all that in DD...- character generator is also like DD/DAs customisation system, but with more additions; make handsome guys, cute girls, whatever you fancy
Yay!- no, there is no Ur-Dragon-like boss
...Yay?- but there are raids with eight players!
glad they put in some manticore(?) boob physics.
Where is Deep Down Capcom?

Probably on the cutting room floor and Capcom is using pieces of it to make other cheaper games.
I was accepted to the Alpha test and I can confirm it's IP-locked. If you need something from their website, latest beta test FAQ has it too:
Q.日本国外から「クローズドベータテスト1」に参加することはできますか?
A.『ドラゴンズドグマ オンライン』の「クローズドベータテスト1」を、日本国外からご参加いただくことはできません。

Q. Can I participate to "Closed Beta Test 1" from outside Japan?
A. You cannot participate to "Dragons Dogma Onlines Closed Beta Test 1" from outside Japan.
Besides Street Fighter and remaking Resident Evil games, does Capcom have any other western releases planned? Seems weird they aren't announcing games for the west.

Awww no UR dragon boss? That boss was awesome.
Japan now has a release date of 27th August, 2015.
All three platforms are at 7,800 jpy + tax.
I thought this was f2p (was I misinformed?). Guess what they meant was that there won't be any monthly fees.
