It increases your blind spot and decreases situational awareness. Ideally (in a regular car, not something with a fat bum like a Boxster) you should only see your car if you touch your ear to the drivers door. Objects should leave the rear view mirror just as they appear on the side mirror, not exist on both simultaneously. Try it out sometime and I think you'll be convinced.

I only see a smal part of my car in the mirror, not too much. I mean it never bothered me, or gave me any problems why driving. And Im still able to see a lot of the road behind my car, and any car that passes by.
But I will try adjusting the mirror like you said. :)

Back on topic, I have my special copy preordered and I'm not concerned, I'm sure they game will look amazing and play amazing. Cant wait to play with my buddy s from #DRIVEPUB :D

Agree about the tuning. It is a rabbit hol I'm not interested in diving down, but it can be frustrating to know that will most likely relegate you to the back of the field compared to others that did.

Car choice I'm not sure about. Yes, I usually concentrate on a handful of cars, but for no you and me to get the perfect handful of our personal favourites, you need a large pool to select from. Same with tracks. There are a few I love, but you need a large selection to try and get everyone's favourites
Kind of disagree on the car thing, but that's okay... agree to disagree :) I think having a smaller selection of cars forces one to think outside of what they'd normally consider as favourites to see what they like. Have a larger one, and you're (or at least, I am) likely to get paralysed for choice or stick with the ones you like in favour of ones you've never tried.

On that note, I also prefer the dev focus on getting <100 cars right than farming out development to third parties when there's double or more of that amount.

It's replay footage yo.

Temper your expectations!

but the game doesnt have replays

so, its either the dolly animation at a race start, or something that is not runtime, or at least not in-the-game runtime.

we just went through the pagani cockpit gif. why go again?

now, anybody who has the beta or the review, you know, he could answer a simple yes or a no and spare us the effort.

I am sorry, but from the videos I saw, where the same jcw mini (without tuning/upgrades involved of course) can out-accelerate the driver's exact same car like it has 150 extra hp, I dont think that you are going to get this focus you are imagining.

the way I see it, you will still be picking favorite cars -albeit out of a smaller list- just not in the manner of "what is my most favorite hot hatchback in the world?" but rather in the manner of "out of mini, r20 and the beetle, which one do I prefer?"

I won't fall for for the graphics hype until l see it in person - been there before with GT5. Thankfully l have PS+ so l can try before l buy.

I don't even know how you can prove this?

the developers say there are no rubber banding / HP boosting / cheating in the game. Seeing one car going faster than another doesn't prove what you're saying.

The worst part is, this isn't the most ridiculous thing, with no logical thought, said about Driveclub.

that yellow merc gif is gorgeous, but presumably from a replay or other controlled footage so the IQ in game wouldn't necessarily be the same.

I cant prove anything more than what you can see. what you can't even see, I cannot prove to you.

its only a few days left, then we -I too, since I never had hands on with driveclub- will know for sure...

No, no I'm not. I'm absolutely 100% dead serious. I can't understand why people are so concerned by realistic looks, but not by realistic movement and interaction (latency).

Probably because movement isn't a big deal. Seriously, people are cool with 30fps.
Naturally 60fps would be better, but it is what it is.

Get over it.

Which video? Didn't Rushy discount any rubber-banding from the game?

Until I see what you're talking about, it could even have been as a result of drafting.

but the game doesnt have replays

I keep hearing this. Do you have a source? Or is this because you just haven't seen a replay button so far? You may very well be right, but let's not spread such assertions without confirmation from an authoritative source. They could be working on a replay mode, they could have access to a replay mode in order to make trailers, we don't know. The footage is obviously a replay of a race, so people should be allowed to call it "replay footage" no? Whether it's real time at 1080p or down sampled or running on 8 PS4s at 10 FPS and fast forwarded is a whole different matter.

And 60fps is realistic? Lol. You're making a tit of yourself here. Real life isn't 60fps either.

I'll give you one piece of information that might help, two cars that are the same can pass each other on a race track without there being any kind of hp boost involved. Motorsport has thrived on the notion that driver skill can affect the outcome of a race.

Realistic movement $ interaction?

You should try driving my Holden Commodore. It's a 24fps car when it comes to steering, braking & throttle response.

Seriously, you're talking such a massive load of horseshite it's not even parody, it's just tragic that the only thing you can post about is framerate & that it's taken you this long to make a post about it without actually saying 60fps in the post.

Man...it's so annoying to see the same "It looks nice but is the gameplay even good?" posts every time I read this thread. You have to be actively ignoring every gameplay impression this year to make this comment.

At the beginning of the year every major gaming website posted gameplay previews. We had impressions from the beta, Gamescom, and EGX. All of them were positive gameplay wise. It's time to stop assuming the gameplay is bad just because the graphics are good enough to make people constantly talk about them.

It's fine to question whether or not you'll enjoy the gameplay, but it's proven to have great gameplay.

This. Just because a certain aspect of a game is the most talked about, it doesn't mean every other aspect is lacking.

It's from b-roll for their free day 1 DLC car. Take from it what you will. I'm labeling it as "replay quality footage". If the footage in the OP is indeed legit gameplay, then you can expect the game to look as good as that GIF while racing.

I'd say the other footage we have of that car looks just as good as that GIF already, just with a different location and fancy camera work.

Lmao at that Nick Cage GIF! ^^

Is this Forza or DC?

DC.

fair, so I will give you a piece of information back: my line of business, its about cars and tuning and racing, be it street or drag.
so I appreciate your info, just dont think twice about trying to school me on recognizing if a car is ..drafting or not.

it's an arcade racer. Drafting is allowed to equal crazy fast in the moment you are referring to from the vid, without it being rubber banding.

What's your work?

And I don't mean drafting, I'm talking about the actual player, in the mini race, being bad so CPU players pass.

This guy mini GP is bad.

The Twitch streaming guy is even worse.

Small correction, it's a week 1 free car.

"It will be available as a free download within the first week of launch," says Paul Rustchynsky, Game Director at Evolution Studios."

Oh. My bad. Thanks!

I share your optimism. But many others don't and I don't want to start another controversy. It's all so confusing!
