New Driveclub gameplay

but then one would call drafting as rubber banding of sorts?
lets not get into this until next week.
Uh no. Because when there's no rubber banding, the drafting happens in a uniform way no matter what place you were in.

Ya theory is wrecked

No, no I'm not. I'm absolutely 100% dead serious. I can't understand why people are so concerned by realistic looks, but not by realistic movement and interaction (latency).

Do you cry when you watch David Attenborough's wildlife broadcasts?

I do. I can't bear to see meerkats, and sweeping shots of the Serengeti at 25fps :(

I cant prove anything more than what you can see. what you can't even see, I cannot prove to you.

its only a few days left, then we -I too, since I never had hands on with driveclub- will know for sure...

You should watch the touring car racing on ITV4, it will blow your tiny mind.

ecus, injectors, turbos, pumps, whatever makes you go faster
oh, and braking systems too, unless you want to die in a blaze of glory

;)

Are you British? Do you live in Essex?

From what I've seen, the cpu cars are conservative but they're going to pass you if you're all over the shop, which the players i've watched have been ...drifting through corners and hitting the barriers, not driving in a straight line and losing traction as they wiggle around.

No, it is not. But it's much better interpretation of real life movement than 30FPS is.
Good thing we're all happy with how it looks more like car commercials thanks to the power they didn't have to give to 60fps and instead gave to that sex on wheels image quality. Hey, at least 30fps makes the gifs even look even closer to car commercials in image and fps.

Blog-Moteur has already completed the solo mode. Says full review up in a few days.

Probably because movement isn't a big deal. Seriously, people are cool with 30fps.
Naturally 60fps would be better, but it is what it is.

Get over it.

I love how oblivious you are to how insane your comment is considering we're talking about a RACING GAME.

Honestly I chuckled IRL at this.

Et tu? You guys are abandoning me at the fort of innocence. Stay strong, Vivek. Stay strong.

Only for challenges. Not by default

Yeah, I just assumed they were something you had to toggle on in a menu. As for the change of heart, I only said that I am better able to understand the argument for downsampling. The IQ in that giant GIF was beyond anything I've seen, but that is likely due to the GIF making process. I hope...

I love how in Horizon 2 threads there is absolutely no mention of the framerate.

But walk into a DriveClub thread and you have to wade through dozens of them every few pages.

The Crew? Need for Speed Rivals? Both 30fps and I remember no big discussion about framerate.

I think that's a pretty good idea, since there is so much shit on TV anyway, at least in germany. But it's a bit offtopic, isn't it?
It's 30fps. I'd say it's perfectly on topic.

You can see how the shadow/reflection bugs out a the end there. Breaks what is otherwise an incredible illusion. Man, what a good looking game.
Isn't that because the reflection is hitting standing water and not wet asphalt?

i played it and 30fps is a game killing comprimise. maybe it was the lack of processing on the monitors they had it set up on, but the whole thing had a grimy, staccato feeling to it. it really highlighted the dodgy IQ in a way that a smoother framerate wouldn't have.

it's not surprising that on the big "look at me" TV in the demo lounge they had it running with motion interpolation on for the second year in a row.

still, ran a whole lot better than the crew on the xbone. that thing looked to be sailing down to the teens at times.

Its awesome I can enjoy this basically day one. I bought my PS4 to play this game essentially, at least for the next 3-6 months.. Yeah I have other games too, but Evo have successively killed it with the GOTG Motorstorm series. Love the racing, and the AI- I beat PR festival twice. They are my favorite studio as of 2008.

These newest gifs are hella impressive too, when you can pass and duke it out 3-5 cars in a braking zone, it just looks awesome. The bumper cam is plain incredible.

Also Ahem* all the cats saying, "its not open world..", well yeah. Circuit racing is a thing, and I think Evo are true fuckin masters at track design. Especially with multiple paths. The nature of the different layouts, per locale is gonna show this. Racing lines, breaking zones, lap times/time trials are also part of what I enjoy in racing, and in open world racers it just isn't the same.

Further aside, for me I will take GT6 over Forza 5 on the track selection alone. It has many flaws yep, but I have still not raced on all tracks despite getting it in December. And then there are the tracks I've race only a handful of times, so I have to still learn them too.

Lastly, lol the FH2 name droppers, go enjoy that game

I don't own an Xbone (yet) so don't care about that game. I don't care about The Crew since it's just TDU3 and the previous ones were shit (IMO) and I don't like any NFS game bar the Shift series.

Basically, I only enter into discussions that interest me.

I play lots of racing games (mostly on PC) and the one universally agreed upon fact in the racing community is that FPS matters a *whole bunch*. On PC at least, we don't have to compromise IQ/FPS, but with games like DC that are console exclusive, we get understandably annoyed.

You don't like racing actual drivers? Prefer that well behaved AI?

I've been playing racing games for over 30 years in solo mode and never not had fun (I'm actually more of a Time Trial guy)

I tried many times to play online with GT and Forza games. But I never enjoyed it. The races are either always badly unbalanced, or full of kids driving backwards.

I'm going to assume you simply spend less time in Horizon 2 threads then (which would make sense if you're less interested in that game)... because the exact same poster is in them preaching the same shit:

And I'm speaking to my arcade gaming self from the 80s: "And then it will be 2014, the framerate in racing games will be..." 80s-self: "...I BET WE WILL RUN AT FUCKING 240FPS WITH ALL 3D AND VR HELMETS." Todays self: "No, but in 2014, half the framerate will be considered as an amazing job and games shall look ok. You can drive off track if you feel like it." 80s-self:"-.'-"

well, the good news for you publicpwnerer, is that about a month after driveclub is out and the main bulk is sold,
we will start getting news about what polyphony has been doing.
they keep radio silence now, but hell, all of you must undestand that they've been working on this ...straight architechture ps4 offers, and not the fucked-up shit that ps3 h/w was.
so.... you know you are going to get happy, and I can almost bet that GT news will surface around christmas.

it's been almost a year since gt6 came out, and they still haven't released the course maker.

polyphony are not gonna make it.

That was... quick... :/

There's over 50 tour events in the single player.

About the same as GT5's A-Spec (I'm playing it at the moment.)

Even without PS+, you can still receive time trial/drift challenges from friends. But the game's not as big as GT.

lol. That guy can't post without mentioning framerate. Still not sure why he even goes into threads where the framerate is confirmed to be 30 FPS.
And there'll be no talk of framerate in Driveclub 2 threads.

People know what to expect from Horizon 2

Why does it matter if it's a sequel? Everyone should know what to expect the second after they confirmed the framerates.

Why does it annoy you? Do you watch David Attenborough with Thrakier and shout at the jerky animals?
