This part is completely new to me.

i am laughing so hard right now there are tears. God, now I want this to be completely tongue in cheek and take the piss out of decades old Final Fantasy heritage. HARDCORE.
 
If the battles are still real time I can see how it might work.

...okay, no I can't but there must be a way. Like if she turned into something slower and more manageable, like a Segway.
 
Thinking about it, this might not be too bad as long as you can use the vehicles outside of battle. If this isn't the case, what the hell are you thinking SE?

It'll probably be worked into the story somehow, like the espers are man-made, or made by an alien race with superior technology or something.

Ridiculous on paper, yeah, but the execution will probably be cool.
 
It actually sounds interesting, the part about riding it in battle, maybe it'll be like the motorcycle mini-game in seven.

Imagine being stuck in a battle with some foot soldiers - you summon shiva and take the battle to the road, the ones with vehicles will be able to follow you and engage in a high-speed battle while you're escaping on shiva. Need to go up? summon a mecha-dragon and rip through the sky, fight enemies in the sky, or attack ground enemies from the sky... you could maybe summon one to take care of one side of battle, like the sky, while you're taking care of things on the ground.
 
She probably turns into a motorcycle during a FMV summoning cutscene, you ride her while blasting away at the enemy, and she transforms back. Attack over.

hahahahahaha.

man this sounds like a worse-than-usual fanfic, only it's actually funded directly by SquareEnix. Maybe Lightning will have a sword that transforms into seven other swords, that she uses to attack other motorcycle riders while her Shiva bike spirals perilously around and around down the road
 
Kinda old, but my mind is going crazy on this one. FFXIII will be the most awesome FF ever made. Just thinking of summons being partially vehicles or cannons. Power Rangers FTW!

Oh, and about riding Shiva, there are actually 2 of them now.... everyone should want to do that.
 
It would be cool if it's a type of vehicle implementation like in Xenogears, seeing as how summons have been completely useless for several FFs in a row, making them into a "gear" type mech or vehicle to keep some semblance of them in the game even if it's in name only has potential.
People need to lighten up.

cannon types? this reminds me of the dragoons (?) of Scrapped Princess. and those other similar-weapons that were considered prophets of the god mauzel or whatever. oh man if the summons in FFXIII are like that it will be the greatest FF ever. :D I've only played IX and X so far but nothing can top that kind of awesomeness.
