new Final Fantasy 12 pics

The URL is extremely slow on my side, too. I'm sure a mirror will pop up soon enough.

Big up neo for the find, though. Always on top of things.

Edit: Wow, look at the hair on the guy in image 23. Pretty fab.

HOLY CRAP WOW

HOLY CRAP YUCK

=/

Anyway, how do the NPCs look like in this game? One of the things that bothered me about FFX is that you had these highly detailed main characters while everyone else in the game looked like they stepped out of a shitty DC game.

It all looks the same.
It all doesn't look igood.
It looks dull.
It all...just looks blah.

And that demo with DQ8 doesn't make my opinion go one bit higher.

Noticed alot of the pics were from an earlier trailer released on 1UP. Neverthless, game is looking good- this will surely slow down the onslaught of the X360 in japan. :lol

Ok. Something must be wrong with me. What am I missing? What is looking so damn good about this game?

Gotten so used to seeing scans of FF12 images, weird to see them all nice and clear now.

Looks really nice. Can't wait!^^

Kuroyume: you can see the npcs in some of the screens. Look pretty blah still.

Dude, are you serious? Character designs, gaphic details on 5yr old technology, awesome CGI, intriguing storyline, choice of old-school & new 'active' battle system, etc etc.

Its just incredibly detailed. There may be some bad textures of polygon edges, but for this gen, the game is incredible technically. Further to that, the art in this game is amazing, little things in every picture, you can tell alot of care and attention to detail have graced this games development.

edit; forgot to say go Blim!

Square probably uses 3 or 4 different quality models for different sequences. The demo included with DWVIII wasn't all that interesting though. Instead of being a great turn-based or real-time battle system we get a medicore mix of the two. I'll give it another chance but as of now this game went down on my most anticipated list replaced with the VP prequel.

I'm sorry, it might be Final Fantasy, but the graphics everywhere except the cutscenes are pretty bad. If it was any other game, no one would even give it a second look. That looks awefull.

I'm glad it has shitty graphics, that means less fanboys jumping on because of what FF is known for (great graphics shitty gameplay). Hopefully this means the gameplay will blow away hardcore RPG enthusiasts.
I liked what I played of the demo included with DQ8 although I know that it isn't really that impressive. I'm sure that that the demo is hardly what the final product will be like.

Oh well, looks like the "I hate FF" talking heads have gored this topic, but I'm personally very interested in what this game has to offer

I think it looks great. Akihiko Yoshida is my second favorite japanese artist after Kazuma Kaneko. With the exception of the main character I think everyone else looks awesome. Sure during gameply the textures are bland, but it's the PS2. The models still look great and the evironment is vast. We aren't jumping from small section to small section like they did in FFX.

From what I played I'm interested. Hope it has a great story. I like the fact that they tried something different from the regular battles. Only so many times you can keep hitting "attack" before you get bored of the whole thing.

It doesn't have shitty graphics. If you've played the demo, you'd know. And if you've played the demo and still think it has bad graphics, you expect too much... or something like that. It looks fine.

The art is so incredibly generic and cliché now. After 6 FF with the same art style, they ought to find a new direction.

This game is goint to rock, I have a feeling that is going to be much, much better in story, characters and gameplay than the last FFs.

Matsuno is still in charge?

Personally I´m not agree, the style can be technical similar, but it´s noticeable there is something more deep in the design of the characters. Little touchs, but is the first time I think the characters are really serious and not as cheesy as in the past. That facial expression alone makes me really excited about the possibilities of this game.

How incredibly ignorant. Do you know who the art staff on this game is (compared to other FF games)?

I like Yoshida's work in general but most these character designs do nothing for me. They certainly don't look anywhere near as unique as the stuff he did for Vagrant Story.

I hope so.. hopefully they have real dungeons this time too.

It´s not the same, Yoshida can´t work the same way with a new name that with a franchise like Final Fantasy, an official numbered one, no less.

I think he is doing a very good job, givin a compromised solution between the natural flow of the saga and his own vision. I really think this characters have "soemething" that makes them different.

The judge design is awesome as well.

Hell yeah. He makes really great armor. Vagrant Story was a great game and his art style made it even better.

How this forum works really makes me scratch my head sometimes. We've had FFXII threads (like the demo impressions one) where praise for the game was echoed in nearly every post, and then we have threads like this, where nearly every poster says something negative about the game. Has anyone else noticed this?

Not only that, but I noticed a lot of people singing praises of the E3 04 demo, and now saying that it wasn't quite up to snuff. :\

Screens look great; can't wait for the damn game.

Yeah... I honestly think every single one of those screenshots looks amazing. I mean, it's a PS2 game, it's gonna have PS2 textures (or whatever people are saying "yuck" to)...

The in-game screens don't impress me much at all after last year's stunners like God of War and MGS3. Lots of jaggies and horrible lighting.

Those cutscenes are hard to beat, however.

No, and I couldnt care less. If its the same thing, then they failed and reashed the same style again, and if its a new team, well they failed to come up with something a bit more original. While it looks good, it's incredibly boring. That certain look is about as interesting visually than the look of DQ games, made by that dragonball guy.

The FF franchise is becoming the McDonald of gaming when it comes to art.

You aren't talking about FF7, 8 and 10 are you? As much as some might dislike them, they're all very distinct artistically. That's one of the main aspects I liked about them, and while this one isn't as unique it doesn't look bad either.

Fair enough, Im not saying they're not any good.. just not what I expect from Yoshida. I like the judge and some of the female characters and the rest will likely grow on me after I play the game.

After some of the FF9 character designs you'd think the artist have quite abit of freedom though.

Gonna make a guess: people bashing it haven't played the demo. The new battle engine is fast, fun, and refreshing and the graphics looked great. The music was also great and nostalgic.

The whole, "this game looks horrible," movement is bolstered by the fact Square can't seem to get it out.

It's a Vocal Minority...

If by same, you mean not SD, you have failed.

If by same you mean it's all a serious style now... you have failed

If by same you mean the main lead is still effiminate, then you might have a point.

But really, you're just been a retarded hater Shuri; fine to hate on the artstyle; you can't please everyone all the time, but more than anything it seems like you're just hating for hates sake.
