New Final Fantasy XV Episode Duscae screenshots

I just hope "Jump" is better than Nine's Jump in Type-0 >.>

Anyway, apparently we'll have Xenoblade style of quests, ugh.

I hope they don't put some dumb system to lock away the good quests...

At least we seem to have quite a few minigames, so the game probably won't get very stale.

Yeah, I asked Haz about quests just in case lol. Also mentioned Witcher 3 quest design, so hopefully they look at that game rather than Xenoblade, Skyrim or DA:I.

Skyrim did do some stuff right in regards to quest. The way you found them throughout the world is pretty good. Overhearing conversations, going to a tavern, reading a book, etc etc.

Although, of course, I'd rather have few quests that are handed out in a generic way than having tons of them being handed out in clever ways =X

Tell him to look at the Marks from FFXII, those were pretty fun. (and could benefit from the HUD pointing the general area)

Yeah, hearing of quests from towns people etc is cool, and the Witcher 3 has that too. With those titles I mentioned, it was mostly the fetch quests. With Witcher 3, side quests are interwoven into the main questline, and at times people have trouble figuring out if the quest is a main one or a side one. Their team has like 14 dedicated quest writers.

Somehow, I don't think XV will have that quality of side quests, and I fully expect Xenoblade level of "kill x monsters, bring x items".

It's mostly about him being the only one we can talk to.

Okay but just realize you can complain all you want but it doesn't mean it'll be in the game. Realize that a lot of stuff is already planned/nailed down and changing it this late in the game would be difficult.

I have no idea how Witcher does quests =X, I wanted to play the first game but the battle system was just too rough for me.

It's alright to have some fetch quests, just give me the good stuff as well. That way I can accept everything and do only the ones I'm interested in. It's when you have Skyrim levels of "go pick this up in this totally non-generic dungeon" or Xenoblade systems of Affinity bs that I get pissed off.

I guess I'll just save my judgement on this, since not even the demo will give us a decent idea of how they will play out.

I know. I don't expect change, I just want to give feedback.

Im raving the whole time about the strategy of my group during the fights

Prompto in the background with his long-range Guns (probably the weakest defence)
Gladiolous attacking the strongest enemies (probably the strongest attack/Tank)
Ignis as a healer/suppoter on my side

SE will likely have something official to collect feedback after the demo. Haz is also looking forward to the feedback. Plenty of time till game release anyway, so let's do our best.

Hmm, we'll see.

I am actually pretty curious as to how this feedback gathering will go and if there will be ways to stop them from just receiving tons of "make everyone playableeee!!!" kind of thing.

And I doubt we'll see the questing system in the demo anyway...

Wait, you guys think they'll actually collect your feedback and put it to use? You realise Tabata has to ship XV and doesn't have the luxury of suddenly changing anything right?

The game isn't coming for another year at least dude.

They not only have plenty of time, there's stuff they haven't even started doing yet.

They already changed the demo plans coz of the fan feedback since TGS.

They still have a strict roadmap and milestones they need to meet.
Oh the irony... =P

Anyway, I won't be giving much feedback once the demo hits, if at all. Since I ended up not getting a PS4 in time.

So I have the fans to blame for a watered down demo?
Well, originally it was only driving around in the car, and now we're getting the battle system instead.

So idk, do you want the battle system or the driving system? =X

You do realize he's responded to every major criticism against FFXV publically, and has taken demo feedback from FFType0 and followed through on it.

lol true isn't this the formula that one dude would use to create new boy bands?n We just need the shy, quiet guy. The "Lance Bass" of Final Fantasy, if you will.

But it's a change from the typical setup of an RPG party. Or do we need the Knight in armor, the healer/acolyte in the white monk robes, the dark mage with the black hat and clothes, etc, again?

It's been done thousands of times.

that puzzling face
We'll get to the point where boy bands are also done to death.

FFXIX will have a professional sniper, a youth pastor, a re-conciled ex-hippie and a Target clerk as the main cast.

I'm sure you realize the deeper they get into FFXV production, the stricter the roadmap becomes and the less reactive they can be.

This is before even mentioning that delays will happen internally (as in many things will not be completed on time, because that's just the nature of the beast) and that FFXV has waaaay more riding on it than a remaster.

The demo releasing is to get Type-0 to sell and at full-price. People aren't participating in an alpha here; there will be things that some people don't like that will stay exactly as they are. People should embrace that reality for what it is now.

Eh I could see how you could say that in these scenes at least, but a lot of what we've seen on the game looks amazing and FF overworlds are usually on the more blandish side so eh. It all looks good to me.

Yes, it was purely based on these screenshots. Technically it looks fine.

I still like it and it looks astonishing, but I would've loved a bit more attention to the hair as in The Order for instance.

The hair is your concern in terms of visuals? I would think things like draw distance or aliasing would be higher than that.

Almost every screenshot is a case of "oh this looks nic- wtf is up with the flat empty background?"

Some info in the latest Famitsu (translated by @VSXIII)

Thanks for these. I know some people had already jumped into conclusion with the last line, but personally, the fact that it mentions "general area" rather than "exact location" indicates that it at least involves some discovery than following the trail and the flashing dot on the minimap. Plus, nowhere was it specified that the quests are all fetch quest or item collecting.

I definitely welcome monster hunting type of quest though. Specifically for the demo, the Behemoth was labelled as a type of rare monster to be hunted as bounty. Maybe in the final version we could get something more akin to the rare/elite monster hunting quest like that in FFXII. I'm cool with those.

I truly am excited for the game, however It can't just be me that thinks the environments look barren...right?

I'm okay without their being collectibles even monsters on the field, however the style is putting me off, especially with the paired down grass.

I don't know how to put it without getting my head bitten off, however the game looks kind of uninspiring and almost going into the territory of ugly.

I know It is an open-world RPG so I have to give it some slack, however It isn't giving me the same wow moment when we first saw Final Fantasy XII or XIII(yes even if it was a linear corridor simulator) as far as graphics go.

Oh well I'm sure the game-play will be great, so I guess I best get used to the graphics, unless maybe they will make improvements to the engine before release.

Yeah, I'm cool with unique monster hunting. Loved those in XII.

The boy band thing is getting quite old. Also, why shouldn't the game challenge the idea of what a Black Mage, Knights, etc should be?

It will get old once the main cast stops looking exactly like a boy band..... so it won't.

Challenging the idea of what a black mage/knight should be is a good idea.
Replacing them by what One Direction would look like if they had been designed by Nomura isn't.

Well said. Not only that but developers need not be afraid to stand their ground. There is no such thing as a perfect game.

I guess we just saw this demo area exclusively for too long now. Maybe seeing new areas with other types of vegetations will change that impression. I can't wait to see some snowy mountains or deserts.
XCX, for example, might have more complex geometry but it also goes for a totally different style (alien planet with strange, exotic flora and fauna) compared to FFXV with its grounded, more realistic world design. Maybe there'll be more "interesting looking" areas later in the game.

Exactly.

I guess you might be right, I'll probably reserve judgement until the full game nears completion,I really hope the environments are diverse and the engine gets some optimisation.(distance/grass)
