I remember Nomura saying that the playtime of XIII demo was going to be around same as runtime of FFVII ACC movie.

Just can't trust developer's playtime.
Well I mean half an hour is about how long it takes to stop watching Advent Children. If anything he lowballed it

Seems like they bumped the resolution really close to native. The blurriness makes me not think it's native, but it could be FXAA.

I really can't imagine what they could change based on player feedback other than relatively minor things like camera or battle speed. I'd say the bulk of the mechanics are more or less set in stone at this point. However, I do hope they take notice in the fan demand for "Cindy" to officially be "Cidney" in the English localization.

Camera, battle speed (I don't think they'd change this, unless it was to make it slower), difficulty, changes to player input, changes to the "gambit" system and/or co-op actions, changes to the more technical stuff (parries and whatnot). Bigger changes could be stuff like the questing system, or dungeon structure, or the minigames.

But the demo is first and foremost about the battle system, so it's changes related to that.

Personally I don't see them changing much. The demo is 1) a tool to help sell Type-0 HD and 2) something to keep fans happy until the full thing is out next year. 3) They can make a bit of money from Type-0 HD/demo combo.

Isn't 1 and 3 essentially the same?

Anyway, there's a 4 there, but I'd rather not say, I don't want to jinx stuff, I'll leave that to duckroll.

I do expect 'some' changes with feedback if there is really huge uproar about certain gameplay aspect of the demo. If they do change it would be something minor related to the battle system.

And 11 and 14.

A majority of FF since 7 have done this. You can't hand wave MMOs and say they 'don't count', especially when they're mainline.

I'm not handwaving, but I very much doubt the type of people who look forward to the next FF game are the same type who look forward to the next FF MMO. They're simply not the same audience. You don't see people comparing this to 14, they compare it to 13. And you don't see people comparing 14 to 13, they compare it to 11

Based on what has been shown so far there hasn't really been much I can see people whine about.

Well, there sure will be in one month.

I think feedback is inevitable, it's just how much they change based off of it. Obviously, the closer the game gets to release the less can be changed, but that doesn't mean that tweaks can't be made. I don't think Tabata is stupid or anything so it shouldn't be an issue.

I guess you might be right, I'll probably reserve judgement until the full game nears completion,I really hope the environments are diverse and the engine gets some optimisation.(distance/grass)

Most of the optimization generally happens in the last stages of development when all the core technologies are in place already. Obviously the demo won't be perfectly polished.

Even if it will have some rough edges here and there in the final game, I don't care. We can't expect a ridiculous looking open-world game with 100 hours of non-filler, individual content throughout the whole game (I wouldn't even want more than 40h main story max, anyway).
Crazy expectations like these are killing the AAA space and destroying the industry's job security nowadays. Actually, it's important to remember that Tabata said that he "doesn’t want 1000-plus people working on the title like western teams, as he’d rather have a comparatively small team with people who can make the most of their individual potential". So it's a pretty small team for a game this ambitious. Keep that in mind.
The devs are surely doing their best right now putting in crazy hours to deliver something impressive in the end. They still have over a year of full mass-production. Cut them some slack :)

The other thing I can see people complaining about is about the lack of things to do without realizing it's a demo and it's missing a lot of the battle system stuff that's still being worked on.

yup. But thats what happens when you release a demo of early part of the game that's still far away from release. FFXIII demo didn't have Paradigm shift which was one of the most important element of the game's battle system.

Definitely seems like the case, judging from some responses in this very thread.

If grass whining is all we have to keep reading then this game will be amazing.

At least complaining about grass instead of 1080p/60fps will give a bit of variety -.- So tired of all that toxic whining about those in basically 90% of all threads here these days. Maybe it's just me, but I feel it's taken overhand in the last few months. Whatever. I'll just keep out.

Nevertheless, I certainly would still be happy if the grass looked like this in the final game (if it doesn't already and what we have seen of the demo was just a different type of grass):

The 1080p thing shouldn't be an issue since we know it's there already. The developers did say it would be 30fps though and as long as it's locked then who cares.

Yup. I meant 1080p/60fps whining in general, not necessarily in regards to FFXV only. Though there really were people expecting 60fps for it the other day, smh.

It's really annoying. Even in XCX and P5 threads, they get derailed into something stupid like that, ugh.

Hopefully this kind of talk will slow down once the demo is out and they release the next trailer with the original graphics again.

60FPS I think there was only one guy expecting it on the other thread for some reason lol.

But I'll support Falk's idea.

Yeah I agree. It's gotten suuuuuuuuper annoying. OMG Y U NO 60FPS.

Ugh.

Nah, yo! Didn't you know? Every game runs on the same engine. The same level of detail is applied to all games -- like blanket detail, if you will. 1080p, 60fps should be the bare minimum for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One games. Final Fantasy XV should run at 1080p60 no problem. No dipping, though. Because I sware on me fuckin' mum if I see one dip-- I don't care if it's an autosave or a million enemies on screen that brings it down to a slideshow-like 55fps, I will trade that shit in and never support Square Enix again. Your move, Tabata.

I was watching a Twitch stream the other day where the streamer said he wasn't getting Bloodborne because he "can't play 30 fps games because they give him a headache". I rolled my eyes so hard I think they did a full revolution.

Falk

that puzzling face
To be absolutely fair, I started TLoU on PS3 at Shota's and turned it off after about two hours because I really couldn't deal with 30fps intersecting with thumbstick aiming (yeah, I'm one of those guys) but I don't see the need to create a stink in every thread.

Take solace in the fact that if he's not bullshitting he'll be missing out on what could be a great game over one of the dumbest reasons imaginable. I have no sympathy for people that ignorant.

I'm disgusted at you Falk. Per your rules, you should be banned.

No, but seriously, the only genre where I felt the difference of 30 against 60 is fighting games (and a tiny bit in character action games).

I don't play shooters, but the bit that I did play, I've never really felt the fps (although, I would suck independently from the framerate...)

Inuhanyou

Believes Dragon Quest is a franchise managed by Sony
You should get both of them :p

Glad to see they already reached their 1080p target(on PS4?), now the optimization can start(FOR GODS SAKE PUT SOME SMAA ON THAT IMAGE BOI)

Can't stand what FXAA does to an image...

I wonder if you can change clothes to main characters (like in Resonance of Fate, so much ahead of its time with great engine and lighting), dat guy with naked armpits is just horrible..

Maybe few DLCs? But I kinda doubt it for this game cause real clothes maker/designer made the clothes for the characters so it's kinda important part of the game.

Wait, I'm not one able to even distinguish 30 vs 60 easily, so I obviously couldn't relate. But what if it actually gives him headache? Is it really not possible?

What if you're not a fan of the Souls type of game? They are very niche.

I don't think they're that niche today. Dark Souls sold more than 2.4m worldwide I think, and the sequel sold more than 1.2m units in three weeks. I think Bloodborne has the chance to do better than the two Souls given all the hype that surrounds it, plus people are longing for a quality PS4 exclusive title for quite awhile.

Geez, some will find the smallest things to whine about. Grass, shoes, hair, who the heck cares that much to nitpick everything to death? Game still looks great and more importantly we will FINALLY be playing a piece of this FANTASY after 8+ years from being announced!

Reminds me of the XCX threads where all you see are face complainers, ignoring the great things that these RPGs may have to offer.
