New Grand Theft Auto 6 leaked video

I think we've hit diminishing returns when it comes to games trying to look like real life. Character models still don't look perfect but otherwise, there's only so much more you can do to make concrete and buildings look more real.

It's in theory, incredibly impressive where we came from with games on Atari but there's something strangely unimpressive about it at the same time. It's like it's hard to appreciate because it just looks real.
Lighting and Shader work are the way forward. Theres plenty more you can do for concrete buildings actually.

I'd definitely rather more detail like the rumours of being able to enter like 70% of buildings and more realistic hit mechanics and more realistic NPC interaction than pushing realistic graphics.

It's very clear to me that nobody commenting here really dove into all that leaked info/footage from last year. That's a good thing, really. It spoiled a LOT of little things pertaining to story, characters, gameplay and mission structure. It leaves very little mystery to GTA VI beyond some story beats and the actual graphical fidelity. It also removes a lot of questions and indeed optimism being posited here. Fun fact: even in an early alpha state on PS4 devkits this game was giving RDR2 a run for it's money in the graphics department. That is obviously subjective, but it's worth pointing out.

My biggest question mark is if this is STILL crossgen. It was running on PS4 devkits a couple of years ago, and the geometry between that and the most recent leak look pretty damn similar. If they are leveraging current gen for FPS, resolution, lod, draw distance, RT, etc...I could easily see this still being a crossgen game, which would be a shame. The reality is that Series S is already an albatross, the game was built on last gen, and R* circa 2023 is not the same company as R* circa 2018. For me it's still a coin toss as to what they decide to actually do here.

I am consistently baffled by how successful the series is when it has had so little to offer past 2005.
Most Rockstar fans are not dedicated gamers, they just buy Fifa, Call of Duty and GTA and call it quits.
Where i live everyone who is young knows what is GTA, but they dont know much about gaming.
I have a nephew who keeps asking me where is GTA i want to play GTA, and he is like 10 years old, basically kids love to wander around aimlessly in this series lol.

Anyway, tomorrow we see if my comment ages well or not.

PS4 devkit??

Thought the leaked gameplay was PC footage running on a GTX1080/3060TI/3080???

Yeah, there's videos (90+)of various builds spanning several months and amongst them is a video that shows backing out of the app into the PS4 devkit UI. The internet has been scrubbed of most of this footage, but can still be downloaded. I've long since deleted all of that data dump, so I can't show any receipts.

When did the leaks from last year state that it was running on a PS4 dev kit? All the footage that was released was from a PC, the debug overlay showed Nvidia GPUs being used.

I still have all the footage saved on a usb, I'll have to go through it again to see if there's any evidence of a PS4 UI.

Plenty of discussion about it on the gta forums and Reddit at the time.
