New GTA V previews

The AI of the civilians raised my hype to another level. Using there phones and taking pics of you going HAM? They really mastered the whole "living breathing city" idea

I still don't get how the 3 characters thing works.
Each one has different missions?
They all take part in the same missions, and you can change perspective any time you want?

This sounds excellent. The generation's going out on something that has the potential to be one of its best games.

Kotaku's saying that the Wanted levels are out of five?

Once Franklin rammed the armored truck and our characters approached the downed vehicle, the cops showed up. We were at a pretty high alert level: four stars out of five. The cops were bringing in choppers, and we were in for a shootout.

The improved Max Payne 3 gunplay and this:

Each of the three characters also has a unique special move, use of which is limited by a meter under the minimap. Michael can slow down time in combat in a refined version of Max Payne 3′s bullet time; Franklin can do likewise from behind the wheel of a vehicle, comfortably taking tight turns at high speed. Trevor, fittingly, has a Rage mode of sorts, doling out double damage and taking less himself until the meter is spent.

make me excited that Rockstar are still making sure the gameplay is still top notch and fun.

This is rear moment when journalists have mentioned graphic in preview of really big AAA game.

But gameplay will be fantastic and rich and that is most important part :D

That makes me a little more confident in my suspicions that there will be a GTAV+ for next gen/PC.

The EDGE preview has me excited about the multiple characters having their own 'lives' away from player control - but I'm equally cautious about how this will really work.

Part of the appeal for open world games is immersion into the world, and it might be a bit jarring to switch characters to find them engaged in a gunfight or something drastically away from the player's mindset.

The way they described it in the Rev3 video is in some instances you do one thing and it pans over to another character so it feels like a more cohesive experience. But it also seems like you can just switch on the fly but I'm not sure entirely how it will work until I see more or play it myself.

It all sounds pretty good right now. We haven't even heard anything about the multiplayer which was super fun (on PC).

This shot gives me serious Red Dead vibes in terms of it's visual style and level of quality. That actually suits me just fine.

I can't believe this comes out in mid-September. Such a clutch release window. Right before the other big blockbusters of the holiday, and before the next gen consoles most likely.

I only wish it was here earlier (for my own selfish wants)!

Holy balls. Hype overload after reading some of those previews. I will have to dust off the xbox to play this when the time comes.

I haven't seen it confirmed anywhere but will this game feature any kind of multiplayer? I just want to cause havoc with my buddies.

Oh my god.

Game Informer: The Art of the Heist

An aficionado of Vinewood action films, Michael also loves the thrill of the heist. GTA V peppers five or six of these big jobs throughout the story, each requiring careful preparation and execution. If you successfully pull off these jobs, you can walk away with millions of dollars to spend on luxury vehicles, helipads, marinas, businesses, weapons, aesthetic and performance car customizations, or even properties (a reversal of position for Rockstar, who previously told us you wouldn't be able to buy homes).

After GTAIV, I'm not gonna get hyped for this...but it does look pretty.

I hope Rockstar give me a reason to explore again - the pidgeons were lame compared to looking for hidden packages.

However, can't see me picking this up current gen unless I have to sell a child to afford a PS4.

Yes, quite a big multiplayer focus but they haven't spoken about it yet. CVG mention that the D-Pad is used to switch characters, with down being your multiplayer avatar.

Sounds almost too good to be true.
I'm finding some of these claims a bit hard to believe.
Yeah I'm taking the heist mission stuff with a grain of salt. Still though there should be tons of things to do and screw around with in the open world, which is the best part of these games as far as I'm concerned.

Yay, more stuff to buy with all dat money. I may not want to leave this game.

This is seriously some game of the forever sounding stuff. Gunplay has often been the weakest part of GTA, so lifting it directly from a top of class game like Max Payne 3 is refreshing news. I suppose even if it failed financially, all of the years that game was in development paid off for other games.

i very much doubt the gunplay will actually be as tight as max payne 3 by virtue of it being open world but i'm expecting a reasonable approximation

rdr had pretty solid shooting mechanics fwiw
