Never. To speed up matchmaking, they will cast the net wide simple. You couldn't really abuse anything in the beta, because there was no lag compensator. If you had a high ping, then you were fucked.
As to the bolded part, ther are no servers in the middle of the atlantic or pacific oceans unfortunately.......
@ Jessie.Bristol lol. I will speak to my non forum dwelling pals first. I can't see any of them buying this know though.
Huh I didn't say the servers would be directly between players, I said equidistant... Which could mean making an isosceles triangle between the server and the two players... If New York HAS to play against UK, the server shouldn't be in New York or Uk. It should be in Greenland
Depending on their matchmaking algorithm, in Titafall on Asian servers despite the population being super low I can get games in seconds in TDM but that game has like no skill-based MM whatsoever. In MCC it is super hit or miss for me, in populated playlists like TS and Halo 4 sometimes it takes less than a minute sometimes it takes forever and being P2P (lol dedis) the experience isn't great for me. After playing on full dedis in Titanfall and the beta I was super looking forward to the selection thing but this soured me a lot. Now I might have to pray that the whatever big/small Halo playerbase in Asia sticks for a little longer.
That's the thing. In TitanFall, where there is no skill based matchmaking, it's quite easy to just throw everyone together with a low ping...
That won't quite work with halo matchmaking, which is designed to quickly put people in matches against people with similar skill...
For any social playlists, sure, let ping be the only criteria... But for ranked play lists, people expect to get matched against people of even skills... I know that becomes a moot point when your evenly skilled opponent has advantage due to lag, but the only other option that would preserve the skill matching is to region lock the whole process, which would give some folks ridiculously long MM times.
I THINK 343i is trying to find a middle ground between skill, ping, and wait times... The real solution is to get more people outside of the US to buy xbox's and Halo5
