New Ninja Theory game to be announced this week at TGS.

So after publicly dissing franchise games that were farmed out to Western developers, this is their move? :lol

I say: bring it on motherfuckers.

DMC4 sucked so this might as well be made as something totally fresh.
The combat in DMC4 kicks the combat in Enslaved up and down the street. It's not even worth comparing the two. If Ninja Theory is making DMC5 then they would be better off making it a shooter.

well... it would make sense for a western dev to announce their new IP in Japan :lol :lol
Dating sim with Heavenly Sword quality in-engine cutscene visuals: million seller in Japan!

It can be much, much worse than DMC4. I would be amazed if Ninja Theory came up with a DMC as good as 4.

And as much as people are badmouthing DMC4 it still was fun, unlike DMC2.

Remember who Ninja Theory have a relationship with now. While A seperate one with Capcom isn't completely off the cards, it is just as likely to be an announcement for a game made for Namco Bandai (Or whatever way it is supposed to read :/).

Either way, GAF will be pissed as it seems to hate developers who don't do exactly what they want them to, especially UK ones it seems.
In the defense of those against this, Ninja Theory has released 2 games in almost 10 years since their formation, and both weren't exactly stellar.

I still have my fingers crossed that Ninja Theory is purely doing the grunt work while Capcom's designers still have full control over the game.

That won't be the case, but I gotta try to remain optimistic here. Action games are nearly dead. :((((

Oh shit :lol It's really happening. I hope NT doesn't turn DMC into another GoW clone, just for the sake of reinventing the series, or whatever they call it these days.

We have Bayonetta now, I don't care about DMC, but I look forward to seeing the reactions to whatever they have to show.

Looks like Game Informer was right again. Which doesn't surprise me their rumors tend to be pretty solid as of late.

So it's looking like new DMC and RE for this week aye? Capcom said 3 new titles yea?

TALES OF THE SWORD by Ninja Theory.

"We know international Tales fans have said that they've felt mistreated in the past, but that's all gonna change with Tales of the Sword! Ninja Theory has totally changed the battle system and art style to be accommodating to Western audiences. We think our international fans will be pleased with this announcement!"

Well, shit.

On the upside, we get the Suda 51/Mikami announcement tonight or tomorrow morning. Stay positive!
As someone who thinks horror is the genre most suitable for gaming, this is something to look forward to, on the other hand.

I'm willing to give Ninja Theory the benefit of the doubt and wait until I see some footage before I get pissed

Heavenly Sword was a pretty decent game! If they were aware of some of the obvious flaws in that game, they could make a decent DMC5.

Holy shit it's really happening.

I'm a DMC fan, but I'm not particularly invested in the characters, the story, the animu action scenes and dipshit sound bytes, or anything other than the combat. I won't mind if they drastically change the tone of the game, though I'd like them to retain the gothic architectural themes. I just don't see how the team who made Heavenly Sword could do anything approaching DMC combat. I hope they have a lot of help from Japanese dudes from Capcom in this arena.

After DMC4 and then the leap forward (IMO) of Bayonetta, DMC does need a new direction. I don't know why Capcom would put it in the hands of Ninja Theory. But hey, maybe with a lot of money (spent on the game and not the cinematics) they're capable of great things.

I feel sorry for any NT devs that read GAF. :lol

They deserve the hate.
Now, now. The game was gorgeous and the cutscenes were very well done. Artists and coders did fine work, apart from the crazy load time at startup. Only the game design and level design and combat design team deserve criticism, because their work was just beyond mediocre.

I'm pretty sure that Capcom execs said the exact opposite: that they'd only use Western developers for existing IPs, rather than new franchises.

Where did the DMC5 rumour came from anyways?

Ninja Theory bragged about a top-secret project.

GameInformer posts it as a rumor (a good number of their rumors became true).

Capcom's Facebook page says they'll announce 4 new games at TGS.

Ninja Theory just said they'll reveal a new game at TGS.

Inafune said DMC5 is going to have a "western touch".

Capcom was and is outsourcing to western devs.

DMC4 is over 2 years old.

Just put those things together. I'd be very surprised if the announcement wasn't about DMC5.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

*Throws rotten veg at Ninja Theory*

Blame Capcom for it, not them. I'm sure they try hard, even though i didn't think heavenly sword was very good or that they are in any way suitable to make a the next DMC game, you can't blame them for accepting a big contract; it's Capcom's fault for hiring them and going in this direction.
