New Ninja Theory game to be announced this week at TGS.

This doesn't bother me nearly as much if i think of it as Bayonetta killing DMC, and not Ninja Theory or Capcom's management.

Also, if DMC5 is being handed off to those knuckleheads, then Capcom better be announcing some seriously hot new original shit. Either that or a sequel that is insane, like a totally rebuilt-from-the-ground-up Sengoku Basara 4, or maybe a Strider game.

If this project is to have any hope of success, Capcom HAS to let NT have access to MT. At least with a standard engine based on DMC4, we can be insured of a solid game engine, which would then just leave NT to muddle about when it comes to level/enemy/boss design and game play mechanics. But yeah...it's doubtful, at this point. T_T
It makes the most sense, but, as I said, the fact that's it's probably not in any way usable by someone that's not fluent in Japanese may be a hurdle in NT getting the most out of the engine.

I liked Ninja Sword, so I'm ok with this.

also judging a studio by one game only is wise.

Well at least it will have good production values, not that a new DMC wouldn't have had that anyway. Hope Ninja Theory realizes people like a jump button in their action games.

That's the plan according to Capcom. Existing IPs outsourced, which give the internal dev teams the time to make new IPs.

Combat was incredibly button mashy.

???
No, it was the opposite of button-mashing. Actually this was the only slasher (except for Golden Axe) where I didn't button-mash and memorized combos.

Ninja Theory making DMC5 is just one of those things that I just do not understand.
Indeed.

If this is true, I don't understand why they would pawn it off on them when DMC4 was the most successful DMC game if I remember correctly. For DMC5 all they had to do was get rid of Dante completely and give Nero more weapons and moves. His Devil Bringer ability was the breath of fresh air the series needed so I hope they keep it.

Dante was an unstoppable combo machine in DMC4. Why would they want to get rid of the best character in the game?

TALES OF THE SWORD by Ninja Theory.

"We know international Tales fans have said that they've felt mistreated in the past, but that's all gonna change with Tales of the Sword! Ninja Theory has totally changed the battle system and art style to be accommodating to Western audiences. We think our international fans will be pleased with this announcement!"

SWORD OF LEGENDIA!

I want DMC5 to be announced at TGS, but I also want the franchise to stay in Japan...

I'll wait for now.
And shudder.

Wow. I'm quite interested to see what they do with it, frankly. Let's face it: it's not exactly been a cutting-edge franchise for a while, has it?

What movie is that? I keep seeing that gif.

It could be a reboot for RE6, eventhough it's only a year old. I really hope it's a new ip instead of DMC5. DMC fans are going to cry everywhere if this is true. :(

Capcom stated that they were letting external developers work with their MT engine, I don't know if this includes Western developers, but DMC in the UE3 will be awful...30fps will kill this series...

Because the enemies weren't designed around Dante, so the combat never clicked as good as it did with Nero, actually was sloppy and kinda boring.

Dante killed DMC4 for me,I love the character but DMC4 didn't need him at all,at least playable.

Capcom may let NT use MT 2.01. It's been confirmed that Eighting or whoever is the true developer behind MvC3 is using their engine. Of course all the documentation is probably in Japanese. Also NT doesn't exactly have the standing relationship with Capcom that Eighting has and even if they did, them not being a Japanese company may factor into things.

Yeah, UE3 it is.

It'd be cool if NT is somehow able to use it, but I don't think its happening.

What do you guys think about Team Ninja working on DMC5?

Since they did Other M, I'm sure they could collaborate with Capcom since Itagaki isn't there anymore.

I know Itagaki hates DMC so I guess Team Ninja would avoid it out of respect to him?

I actually agree with you on that point, but if anything Dante was viciously overpowered. You just had to take the time to learn how to use all of his abilities. But this sidebar is derailing the thread so I'll drop it.

If anything, they need to bring back Virgil and add co-op. The genre was founded on that feature so it's odd that very few character action games have it now.

enslaved doesn't have a jump button?

the same Team Ninja that added pervy boob controls to Sigma 2 and now Dimensions after he left?

Still, it surprises me there is so much hate for Ninja Theory.

Or is it mostly hate because of the possibillity that DMC won't be developed internally?

I think they should help add some life to the Tekken series. I heard Itagaki is a HUUUugggeee Tekken fan. They should colab with Bamco on the next mainline entry. I'm sure he would have wanted it that way.
