~NEW~ OBLIVION screens!

I think it was a zero-duration fire damage spell being used.

My favorite shot is that cathedral in the gloomy woods. I have no idea where it is in the game, but it's a gorgeous shot :)

That is by far the best shot. It's hilarious that the game is so massive that you don't even know where it is :)

I think it looks absolutely beautiful. I cannot wait to just be able to explore the wooded areas in this game. And, to think, it's going to happen in less than two months. God bless Bethesda.

yup, i believe i recently read somewhere it has 4 (was it 6 ?) different races of horses.

Also, according to the 20 min video it will have instant travel between cities, though it looks like it's just a point and click interface via the map, instead of the Striders that were in Morrowind. Personally, I don't like that as well. I thought the Striders were cool, and they sounded really awesome, kinda like a whale.

I'm guessing this is the Dwarven Armor. Looks awesome. The helemet makes you look like the "sphereical gaurdian things" from morrowind (my memory fades me as to the name of that thing -_-)

Never played one of these games, but it seems like a lot of you guys reccommend it, so I'll probably buy this with my xbox360 (and probably madden).

Any news on PC release date?

I hate how any questions about the PC version release date (not requirements!) get ignored here by Steve and Vark :(

I think the plan is to try to release both at about the same time, but neither will be released before they're ready.

I AM SHOCKED

I just read his (Cybamerc) post history. He needs:

a) A hug
b) A Thesaurus - "horrible" just isn't enough adjectives.
c) A banning.
d) A girlfriend

Uhm..ok. let's try dodging the direct question then:

" from the time you're spending with the game, do you believe it would be possible to have everything done in time for it to launch, let's say, around late nov. early dec. ? "

or

" there's too many things that still need to be fixed in the game for us to realistically think it may be in shops on nov 22 ? "

or

"how far is the game from completion ?"

(hah, i think i just tricked him !)

Gorgeous.

I especially like the pale autumn-like look of the bottom pic. That's the first Oblivion shot I've seen with those colors. Good evidence that they're making the gameworld visually diverse- as nice as those lush green forests look they could get monotonous if all of Cyrodiil was covered in them.

I can't believe some people. This game was developed for current PC hardware alongside the 360 so ofcourse some sacrifices have to be made. Having said that the game looks stunning and will probably be the best looking PC game when it is released next month dethroning F.E.A.R. Not to mention the patches we will surely recieve for the newest ATI cards. I'd rather have a game that uses respectable 360 power with jaw dropping art than a game that pushes 360 to its limits with terrible art any day.

Can't f-cking wait for the PC version.

This will probably be the game that gets me to finally upgrade to 2gb of RAM.

Hey Vark and SteveMeister, you guys should ask for 4 or 5 exclusive shots for GAF. You know we love yer game and everyone comes here to get the scoop. :p

A Bad Art post is an automatic membership to the idiot's club. Its all subjective and not to be prononuced as fact. There's a CASE CLOSED for you.
Great, you just summoned sporsk to rant about how it's NOT subjective for like five paragraphs.

And could someone please explain why cybamerc is still allowed to do this shit? I mean, it would be one thing if he were at least entertaining, but it's all so tedious.

JAYSUS

This looks even improved from the E3 build, which was already impressive. Seems that they worked on the character models too.

I'll still buy the game if I can shoot arrows into him.

EDIT: or make a potion out of him

For fuck's sake, no! :lol

I think either they all have him on ignore (smart admins) or he has put some of their family in harm's way.

Have a few small questions for the Bethesda guys:

• Will there be a playtime counter in the game?
• Will the "Limited Edition" 360 release actually be, ya'know, limited?

I only ask the second one as I won't be getting an XBox 360 at launch, so I'd like to know if they're planning on printing a Jade Empire/Halo 2/Phantom Brave-style LE, where you can still readily find it months after the fact. I'd just hate to miss out, is all, so it'd be nice to know one way or the other. :)

The REAL question is how many bugs will be in this version.
Indeed. After having Morrowind XBox freeze up on me every few minutes whenever I travel around certain cities (Vivec, especially), or having it freeze up while saving and thus corrupting all of my files in the process, ...well, to have another waste-of-a-disc product like that on the market, would be nothing but total bullshit.

*is still a little bitter* Losing a Level 62 Red Guard you sunk a month of your life into is not fun... :(

You're only allowed the ability to "instant travel" to locations you've already visited, so all it really does is prevent you from having to spend a big chunk of your time travelling from A to B, to A again, repeatedly throughout the course of the game.

Honestly, the only real problem I can see with this is that it kills realism a bit, but I think that's a worthwhile sacrifice if it means less tedious tasks for the player. Plus, as far as I know, it's a completely optional way to travel, so you can always avoid it if you're a purist.

Who's going to use your own soundtrack for this game when you get tired of the regular one?
I'm probably alone on this, but even if custom soundtracks or downloadable mods are available on the XBox 360 version, I won't be bothering with them. I really just want to experience the game it was originally intended, and that includes the original music, the vanilla content, etc... I'm sure I'm alone on that, though. ;)

But don't get me wrong, I'd be all over official expansions (by disc or download), it's just I won't be bothering with any fan-made stuff.

I would think time passes as you 'instant travel' to simulate the acual travelling, much like the striders in Morrowind worked except this time its with the use of a map (or maybe both? hm), it'd make the most sense IMO. Anyone got any info on that? :)

works just like it did in Daggerfall

There's no reason to complain about the "instant travel" feature. Just don't use it if you don't like it. And I kind of hope they do delay it a bit just so they can work out all the bugs.

Ill refrain from the rant and just say

It's not totally subjective you fucking dolts.

And yes the statue of Agustus octavius is 10000 light years ahead of that shit statue in terms of craft and sophistication.

and its almost 2000 years old -_-

That said, im actually looking forward to trying this game out, despite its shit statues and shit monsters.

In your opinion...which again is subjective and means nothing. Art is a wholly subjective thing. You can study art history and that will help categorize and interpret works, but it cannot give you the be all end all of what is good or bad art.

Dadaism failed to show you anything.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Sure anything can be art, im not arguing that. DADA has nothing to do with this.

Im just saying these guys lack skill in their craft.
