New Offical APF 2k8 Xbox 360 League Thread: Here comes the rain again!

ok guys, league is pretty much full. i'm confident with 30 players. draft order will be up in about 10 mins. here are some things to keep in mind!

1. please understand that this game is going to be rough around the edges. please don't expect madden. we ALL KNOW there are going to be glitches, there are going to be times the AI is questionable, and i encourage bringing up problems you have, but what i don't encourage is constant bitching that affects the morale of the league. please have some respect for the effort that is going into this league.

2. regarding quitters or people who have to drop (for whatever reason, be it scheduling conflicts, real life getting in the way, red ring of death) we will have fill-ins. i will personally fill in for a game if needed, i'm sure we've got others who will contribute to that. but i want to find permanent replacements. it's cool if someone fills in to advance the league but i don't want konex playing as 10 teams.

3. i will come up with a division alignment as i see fit if it makes sense. 2k has already said that there are no divisions (and never has been). it's all one giant cluster****, which is fine cause we can make it what we want. the problem that THEN arises is that ok, i make the division alignment but the league site doesn't recognize the alignment we've agreed to. therefore, when the playoffs start, we would have to do our own custom playoffs OUTSIDE of the "league page" itself. give me some input on this guys. do you want divisions or do you want to do NBA 2k style, straight up top 12 teams get into the playoffs and **** it?

4. i will be discussing the details of the actual draft more once we have the game and know the rules.

5. yes, for those wondering the winner of the league will get a free copy of madden 08 360 shipped overnight to your door! so please be pro-active in the league and lets get it done in a timely fashion!

Nice rules!

I'd say top 12 players get in the playoffs, and we map out the brackets from there. Seems like the easiest solution that would probably have support from the 2K infrastructure.

If You Can't Beat 'Em, Talk Shit About 'Em
Top 12 teams get into the players period IMHO.

This isn't the NFL so lets not be held back by the limitations of divisions in this game. The top 12 teams getting in will make the playoffs exponentially more exciting for all involved. Why? Just because you scraped by and beat the 3 in your division but your record is 7-9 doesn't mean you should clinch the playoffs because 2nd place in your division is 5-11.

For the NFL I completely love divisions because the rivalry's are all huge. But this game is far from the NFL. Having the top 12 would make for a pretty exciting race. I know we love to have rivalries within division in Madden, but lets save that for Madden.

well, that is the fun of divisions, it sets up rivalries!

also, i was notified that i can edit the playoff teams however i want. so we could technically play it from the site! i think i may do divisions.

NBA/MLB 2k7 leagues allow you to edit playoff matchups every round. (I'm figuring APF 2k8 will allow this as well) So If we make our own divisions we will need to have someone update a standings thread/website to keep track of standings. As for stats we all know what 2k allows us to do..

The order is here. I used a random online generator. Do not be upset at me if you got a shitty pick. I did not edit this list at all. I did not do multiple lists. I simply copy and pasted our 30 person list into the generator and it spit this out. So, without further delay, your draft order:

please remember the following regarding the draft:

1. steve young is off limits and im not joking! all i ask for running the league is that i get steve young regardless, so dont bother looking at stevie!

2. the draft goes like this:

round 1: picks 1-30
round 2: picks 30-1
round 3: picks 1-30

just like fantasy football!

questions? ask

p.s. no you can't trade draft picks

#7! Nice, now I just need to figure out who I want...

Curt Warner?

Also FMT, one thought for divisions maybe line them up by time zones? IE have players in the same time zones in the same divisions. I was in a division with Vumpler twice last year and he is in a different time zone and works opposite hours from me. We got all our games in but not as smoothely as if it had been someone in the same time zone perhaps.

Just a thought, I'm sure you got plenty of good ideas.

But what am I going to do with this "Steve Young for President '96" tattoo on my...back?:lol

21 WTF?

Payton better be there or I'll have to make sure to not miss MUST SEE TV this fall.

I still think there should be DIBS for one pick in the first round if you are taking the CITY of your team!

God the number 4 pick comes with so much pressure. There are so many good QB's and RB's. I'm going to have to drill the shit out of this game to find out if this game is more oriented towards the run or the pass.. Because damn what a decision.

Hey FMT, 11 rounds? That's 330 players. I thought there were only 241 legends in the game?

I have a feeling there are going to be some VERY style oriented (run defense, run offense, pass offense, etc) teams because everyone will have 1 Gold at best. FMT since you're getting Mr. Young I assume you're locked into taking him with your first pick?

also, i will get into the draft more once we know some details about how we can put the teams together, but ANY created player you want to make or are thinking of making (and we will have to make some), you need to submit their name before the draft so anyone has a fair shot at drafting/creating them for his team. (bo jackson... lol)

p.s. yes steve young is my round 1 pick

no.... bo is mine :(

I submit Bo Jackson as a gold player that way we have a even 60.

CB3

intangibles, motherfucker
im not taking Randall at #3. im a running guy, so ill be getting a running back

guys the 3 Gold Players that will be added to the draft list are Bo Jackson, Deion Sanders, and Lawrence taylor. we don't need anymore gold suggestions, or silver. we need bronze type players to get to 330.

58 Gold

79 Silver

110 Bronze

= 247 players

My suggestion for created players would be that you may select as your draft pick a created Gold (This probably wouldn't happen), Silver and or Bronze player. It would be up to yourself to name the player after a legend or just create a FMT disiciple.. You would not be able to create Bo Jackson (Well the prime Bo, the potential Bo, the Bo who knows with 3 abilites) or even Deion Sanders. (I'm sure he should have at least 5 abilites, since you are able to create players Gold (3 abilities) , Silver (2 abilities) & Bronze (1 ability).
