1- Many players are worried that the multiplayer mode in PDZ feels more like Halo 2 than it does to the original Perfect Dark. How are you going to keep the feeling of the original game ?

RARE: Many of the people that have played it said that the Perfect Dark feel is still there. Sadly, you can’t see that by watching videos or images; you have to play it. Also, you have to remember that all we have shown is only 2 multiplayer levels.

2-Have you redesign the controls to play similarly to Halo or do you have the same style as Perfect Dark on the N64 ?

RARE: Both. There are some things similar to Halo, and some things keep the same feel of the original Perfect Dark on N64. Obviously, the control has been amplified to give you a brand new set of moves like rolling and taking cover. Half of the team wants to have the control feel similar to Halo, the other half wants the same feel of the original Perfect Dark. I can tell you that the teams are balancing the controls.

3-It has been mentioned before that there are 28 weapons in Perfect Dark Zero, a lot less weapons than Perfect Dark on the N64. Can you explain why?

RARE: Perfect Dark on the N64 had more weapons, but you couldn’t use all of them on multiplayer and they didn’t have secondary fire.
On Perfect Dark Zero, the secondary fire modes give the weapons more options and they are all unique and different. The weapons on PDZ will have more variety than the original.

4-Following our conversation about weapons; all the weapons we have seen, have options already seen in the original Perfect Dark. Can we expect surprises?

RARE: We have decided to show how our weapons have the best visual effects ever seen. Are there new weapons with secondary mode? of course. One of the weapons that we will have, can project holograms as a bait that represents a character while making moves.

5-There seems to be a lot of focus on evasive maneuvers. Are there more movements like this?

RARE: There are more new moves on third person, but we are saving it for more surprises later on.

6- Is there an option to include our own face on the game ? Is this going to be included ?

RARE: No. It won’t be included.

7- Many Xbox live enabled games seem to have more focus on the online multiplayer mode. I think I speak for most gamers when I say that we don’t want the story mode to be a secondary thing. Can we keep calm and be confident that the single player campaign will rock ?

RARE: We agree with your statement; that’s why most of our team is working really hard on the campaign mode for Perfect Dark Zero. You will have more information about it later this year.

8- What can you tell us about the single player? How many missions? How many new gameplay features can we expect ?

RARE: We can tell you for sure that the single player mode will have a similar feel as the original Perfect Dark but it will have much more replay value; and now with Xbox live there are new possibilities………

9-We have all seen the comic of Perfect Dark Zero and have been wanting more for some time. When can you expect to have merchandising related to Perfect Dark?

RARE: We hope so. The comic has been really successful and there could be plans of more things like that.

What? I thought there was a secondary fire on those guns.... just hold "b"....

Yeah, I'm sure laods of guns in PD had a secondary function. The Dragon doubled as a proximity mine, Superdragon had a grenade launcher, the Mauler would charge, the Callisto (the one that looked like a blue dildo) had different firing speeds and I think the shotgun had a double blast function. There were probabily alot more too.....

Please let this game rock! I've tempered my enthusaism for it, but I want it to be good as it is my most wanted Xbox 360 launch title. I don't mean Conker good, either. I want "Hey, this game is heads and tails better than most other launch games!" good.

Why they didn't asked about the awful and underwhelming look of the game?

I agree with the controls, the default Halo scheme is perfect (I can't think in a single FPS in xbox that don't use it). the only 2 things that It could improve is a scroll whell to switch weapons and a button under the control to jump and aim at the same time

He doesn't speak for me. Simple question: What does one usually play three months into owning the game? Multiplayer or singleplayer? There's a reason why I've put countless hours into Halo 2, and it has nothing to do with singleplayer.

I'd love to ask a loaded question like "Does it play as bad as it looks?"

"No! I mean yes, wait. No. Yes. No... fuck."

I think he is hinting at the multitude of online co-op modes that will be in the game. We may finally get the online co-op we have been crying about since Halo 2 came out. Beyond that, there may be more online co-op modes as well on top of the deathmatch modes....

:lol

You know they have to be pretty sensitive about it, and apparently, the game looks much better now, so why no new media?

I think there's supposed to be new media at that German convention.

To blow us out of the water when they do release new media..it's almost like they want people to continue with the WallGuy stuff until they unleash visuals this side of Gears of War.

I find this hard to believe. Does anyone actually think the old Goldeneye-PD controls are better than dual analog? Seriously, you can't aim worth a damn with the old N64-style controls.

And I'd say we're pretty much guaranteed the game won't look as bleek as those shots from MTV.

Most of the RARE staff have probably been moved from other projects by now. Conker's finished.

I'm relatively confident that they can sort out the game's graphics, but I'm more worried about the art. It just doesn't look like Perfect Dark, which is a real shame.

Maybe the whole team need to go back and look at the original. You'd think they obviously would have, but as they didn't know about the secondary fire functions...

I clicked this thread with hope of finding a reason to be more interested in PDZ, instead of thinking it's a lame cash-in that'll probably be a mediocre FPS when all is said and done.

All it did for me was make me angry that a person working for Rare didn't know that the original game's weapons almost all had secondary functions. Dumbass.

He's saying that not all the weapons had a secondary fire mode, not that none of them did.

Now there will be fewer weapons but all of them will have secondary fire.

Seriously, how can anyone forget the Laptop gun?

I've seen that weapon before. Can't remember which game. Didn't Duke Nukem have it?

This game NEEDS a high, stable framerate...and I'm getting tired of waiting for an answer. Last time I read about this game, they were aiming for 30fps (wtf?!). If they can't even guarantee a minimum of a solid 30fps then the game doesn't deserve to be released tbh

Of course, there were still considerably more weapons with a secondary function in the original PD regardless of whether they all did or not.

Not that I care that there's "only" 22 weapons, I just care that someone on the PDZero team doesn't know it.

You need to tell that to every next gen developer because alot of them have said they are shooting for 30fps.

I know, and I think it sucks. For most genres it doesn't bother me but racers and especially fighters and FPS games NEED a high framerate. Playing a FPS that bobs up and down from 10-30fps is just going to be unplayable especially online

I can see myself buying a lot less next generation because of this. I'm very tempted to do a rental before I buy ANY new game just so I can how smoothly it runs. "Ooh...look how pretty it looks." That's great but pretty useless to me if it runs like a slideshow

as long as its not fast paced, i dont think a fps needs to be 60fps. look at halo, it plays perfectly fine at 30.

I gotta troll this thread :lol

I still have ZERO faith in Perfect Dark and I have ZERO faith in RARE.

so far, there is no such thing as a GOOD Perfect Dark game, IMO. It baffles me why people are looking forward to this so much, with such baited breath

what better place to show off an awesome NEW game or a graphically enhanced version of a game everyone makes fun of than the world's stage: GERMANY!

More than likely it will be a new trailer. IF that's the case you can almost be sure that for some reason even if it's germany event IGN/Teamxbox or Gamespot will be the first to get it and put it online.

might as well just wait for TGS. Hell, what's another month or so?
I mean, it's not like a system is launching in the next 4 or.... wait.... nevermind. GERMANY OR BUST!

I remember playing all the way through the game. It was ok, nowhere close to GoldenEye.

Didn't it get a lot of hype off of the GoldenEye name and then got a medicore response when people actually played it?

The got rid of guns. :(
It's not going to have as many customizations as TS2 I bet. Being able to setup the controls like that made it awesome.

It would rock if they'd put in an updated version of Perfect Dark. If it only had a steady framerate --->buy+infinite play
