All their songs sound the exact same to me
Universally speaking?

Just wanna point out that The Getaway is highly underrated. Quite enjoyed that album.
Other than that I'm more of a fan of BSSM era Peppers and what they did before. One Hot Minute I liked too, but it had some skips. Californication is decent too, but I remember the mixing being kinda bad. Way too loud, dynamics were off, too much mono, really compressed. I enjoy the song writing and harmonies, but the mix turns me off.
The new songs are alright. I enjoy Poster Child the most because it has a nice funky bass, even though it took a while till I could appreciate Kiedis vocals. Black Summer is too boring for me. All that build up, but the pay off was just ehhh.
Watchu Thinkin is my fuckin jam…this album sounds like they picked right back up from when John left. He sounds so good on this. Even the first two singles have grown on me
Album leaked today. Wow some strong songs are ahead if you haven't listened yet. Surprising set of songs they released before hand but if you're a previous fan you'll enjoy it.
Right after Poster Child the album gets insanely good like wildly good.
The Great Apes
It's Only Natural (Another fav)
These Are The Ways
Whatcu Thinkin'
Bastards Of Light (Insane favorite)
White Braids & Pillow Chair (Groovy)
Just finished it the whole album is solid. 9/10
Listening now. Already screeches Frusciante, a brilliant thing. WMP mixed up the playlist though so out of order.
Ah Christ "California" AGAIN.
He seriously resorts to places he lived for lyrics. Awesome song though funky as fuck.
Ding, dang, dong, dong, deng, deng, dong, dong, ding, dangwhich should never be lyrics for songs.
Nice to hear someone thinking the correct way! RHCP are an "old school" band who don't really release singles and neglect their albums. The songs are meant to be heard as a whole package. Nice to see people actually coming around and realizing this album ain't shit like they thought it was after hearing 2 songs! The 3 released songs fit well in context of the album front to back, it's the way a chili peppers album should be enjoyed.
Anthony said they have a shit ton of music they’ve been working on and to expect more sooner than we might expect.I think this is really solid but it could've been an incredible album had it been cut a little short. It's amazing how much better the band is with John Frusciante
definitely my most played trackWatchu thinking is maybe a little bit too good.

Hopefully they have more stuff like Hey (the last track on SA disc 1 not Snow) or Don’t Forget Me or Venice Queen coming. I like when they mix it up more, but this is a really solid album.
I feel like the only disappointing track for me is Not the One. It’s just kind of boring. Also if any of you have never listened to John Frusciante’s Shadows Collide with People, you should immediately do that. It feels almost like a spin off of By the Way.
Saw their secret show at the Fonda in LA last night. Wow just wow. Witnessed history and yes John saves the band don't even worry about it. I also saw them receive their star on the walk of fame rad weekend.
His first legit RHCP show in 14 years. Insane here's some footage I took of Hey and his guitar solo so good!

Crackhead look?I have never followed this band, i only know of the Californication song and that's about it.
Saying that, is the crackhead look part of their appeal?
This is pretty dope, as good as anything on the new album IMO. Excited for them to keep dropping stuff with more frequency
My brothers in Christ John has indeed saved the band, holy crap this one is good.
Don't get me wrong, I don't think they were bad with Klinghoffer, but I don't find myself going back to the two albums he played on much. There are definitely some jams in there, but when they have John and they're firing on all cylinders such as here...it's on a totally other level.I mean, they've never been bad. Even with Klinghoffer there they were fantastic but, Frusciante is a fucking GOD and his guitar work on Eddie is sublime. Flea does kick some major ass in here as well.
With Frusciante it's something completely different. I will admit, when UL 1st came out I was listening with headphones to each song. Come to the last 2 songs I actually teared up. Be it from the beautiful guitar work. Be it from the fact I just cannot believe I am hearing Frusciante back again with the guys. I don't know. But I got real emotional. No other band affects me like the RHCP do, and with Frusciante back in, it gives me great joy.Don't get me wrong, I don't think they were bad with Klinghoffer, but I don't find myself going back to the two albums he played on much. Well in a recent interview Josh said we can thank Rick Rubin for that. He wanted to experiment and be all wild but Rick kept influencing the band how it needs to be tamer and that is exactly why you barely hear him.I'm With You and The Getaway weren't bad albums at all but they were totally carried by Flea and Chad musically. Some of the tracks you don't even know Josh is playing a guitar. Looking back I don't think he was a good fit as a lead guitarist for the RHCP. I guess it's the good the band stayed together during that time though.
