All this talk about RotS has got my fanboy gears going for Star Wars again. I watched the trailer for The Phantom Menace again, and it's still so damn good (at least the last 30-40 seconds, beginning with Yoda's line).

BIG SPOILER
The last pic is of Yoda on the Tantive IV in the room where he speaks to Qui-Gon and learns how to become a blue glowie.

That last pic is awesome. It's the first thing I've seen in the prequels that reminds me of the original trilogy.

I'm still not a fan of the ships looking more futuristic than the technically later (Ep. 4-6) vehicles, but they still look nice.

Well if you think about it, it's not like the rebels will have new models for everything. It's going to be a bunch of broken down ships they re-worked and got running.

and as for the Imperials, maybe it's cause everything is mass-produced and cheap. (didn't it take like 1 shot to take out those tie fighters?)

Yeah. Ties have no deflector shields, so they get hit once, they're done for.

I used to love Star Wars... then Episode 1 came out.

I have yet to even bother watching Episode 2. :(
Episode 2's actually not as bad as Episode 1. I much prefer the angsty acting (whenever Anakin's around Portman) and terrible love scene dialogues over the bland kid actor and Jar Jar focus. There's just a lot more focus on serious characters (ie not the Gungan leader) in comparison with the first.

Actually, that's most likely the

"Lord Vader."
"Yes Master?"
"Riiiiiise"

scene that the trailer dialog was taken from.

But, in the trailer the voice was James Earl Jones, so he was in the suit already.

Unless Anakins fall to the dark side changes his voice regardless.... doubt it though.

Another possibilty is that "Yes Master" was pasted from another scene for the trailer.

You're on the right track.

The "Yes Master" was actually coming from Christensen, but because the way they cut the trailer, they just deepened it up and made it sound like the Vader-mask, since the next thing you saw was the Vader suit.

Heh, I can't believe people really do think Ep2 is better than Ep1. TPM is merely a below average movie for me, whereas ATOC is one of the worst movies I've seen.

Agreed here. The Phantom Menace at least has some cohesiveness and genuine novelty to it that allows the movie to have a lasting impact. I'd rather go back to see TPM than ATOC. In comparison ATOC feels like a menagarie of different movies including one truly horrific romance. It also helps that TPM was anchored by a good acting performance (Liam Neeson) and in ATOC we're anchored by a virtual puppet.

Nah, I'd take EP:2 anyday over EP:1. EP:2 was uneven, but the stuff that was good in there I really liked; Obi-wan sneaking around playing detective, the stuff with Anakin on Tatooine, and most of the last 40 minutes or so. It also seemed to progress the overall arc of the prequel trilogy moreso than TPM (i.e. signs of Anakin's dark side, start of the Clone Wars, Palpatine gaining control.)

TPM was bogged down with slapstick antics, atrocious dialogue (I'll take the "sand is rough" more than "yipees," "no need to report that until we have something to report," and "you in serious doo doo thisa time" any day) and performances that were flatter than Clones. Neeson was pretty good, but seemed bored, Mcgregor was much more alive in Clones, and the kid vs. Christensen... well that's a judgement call but IMO Christensen did put some emotion into his performance, even if it was whiny-angsty bitch boy.

I do think that TPM will benefit most out of the release of "Revenge" as the dark nature of the third act will be juxtaposed with the light, care-free nature of the first.

Hey, I'm not going to knock Christensen. He probably had the strongest performance out of all of them. But he didn't have much to work with. Evenso, he seemed to understand and portray what the material was trying to describe. Heck, Natalie Portman is a great actress but look at what the material reduced her to.

If TPM would have been much better with a slightly older, less "yipee" Anakin then ATOC would have been much better with a straight romance and focusing more on Anakin turning than Obi-Wan sleuthing.

ATOC is a better action movie but it was saddled with a multitude of tasks and was limited by necessity. It had to be roughly two movies in one. So sure, it progressed the storyline a lot more than TPM but at least that movie felt complete. In comparison ATOC feels like Frankenstein's monster.

That's all I'll say about TPM vs ATOC. I watch both movies regularly so there's no real use in knocking one over the other. But, man.. doesn't anyone else wish that the fight between Qui-Gon and Maul on Tatooine would have gone longer?

James Earl Jones hasn't recorded his lines yet.

The trailer dialog was altered to sound like Vader. The line is spoken before he is in the suit.

The new Before The Helmet on HyperSpace provided perhaps the best shot of General Grievous released thus far that I don't believe has been posted yet:

Wow, that looks A LOT better than some of the other ones.

He looks a bit anorexic though. He should eat a burger.

WHO DEY!?
I am read ing "Labyrinth of Evil", a SW novel that leads directly into ROTS. It is pretty good, and Grievous is an interesting character- more interesting than he is likely to seem in ROTS.

I'm also going to agree that Episode 2 is better than Episode 1... but seeing as I haven't seen either one more than once (nor have I had the desire to do so), it's tough to make a fair comparison.

They're not official. Someone by the alias of "Spoileriffic" keeps posting these images from time to time on MF.com. The Grievous one however is official since the official site posts new stills and artwork from Episode III on a weekly basis as part of their HyperSpace subscription program.

Great pic though!!

Hmm, Sidious in the Senate chamber? That red cloak is downright creepy.

As for TPM vs AOTC... I'll just say that I think each film has its strengths in different areas and I'm really hoping ROTS manages to pull it all together at once.

Yes, but
I thought I read that the Senate chamber is destroyed in the film, so I wasn't really expecting a formal declaration in front of his 'peers'.
I guess that happens after, if at all.

One of the big events that's mentioned in Episode IV is that the senate has been dissolved. Remember Princess Leia saying "The Imperial Senate will not sit still for this?"

No, the senate building still exists even in ROTJ. It can be seen in the background on Coruscant on the DVD edition.

I guess, but I swear I heard what I wrote from a rather definitive source. Then again, I'm trying not to follow this stuff as best I can.

Alrighty, whatever.

That's what I never understood about the timeline. I would have thought Palpatine would have gotten rid of the senate by the end of Episode 3, but it's clear they're only just dissolved in "A New Hope." So where they just sitting around being puppets to Palpatine during the years when the Skywalker kids grew up?

Seriously, it seems like Lucas isn't even trying to keep this on under wraps.
