It appears to show
Yoda surveying the Jedi Temple after Anakin and crew's attack
.

My feelings are its the digital HD that makes the CGI stand out more and look less integrated.

Film gives a softer look, thus I think it does a better job of hiding the fact that so much of the backgrounds are CGI. Video (even HD) tends to be more harsh and lower resolution.

Not to sound like a bitch or anything, but what is there to spoil from this movie anyway? Even the unborn know that Anakin becomes Darth.

You know, I clicked on this thread a while ago and walked away, but when I came back the first thing I thought to myself was "where the hell in Halo 2 is this?"

That has me terribly vexed.

you know the more I watch the LOTR extended edition dvd extras and see the sheer AMOUNT of craft and time they took on the LITTLEST details for that trilogy the more I loath this CG wars.

IMO lotr in 20 years will still be great, much like the old star wars were passable for decades (hint miniatures are a good thing)

There was a LOT of CG work in the LOTR trilogy.

And a lot of sucked hard just as well.

The problem with the Star Wars prequels isn't the CGI though, its just about everything else.
Basically true.

I beg to differ. I can't think of ANYTHING that "sucked hard" about any of the LOTR movies, visual or otherwise.

But, everyone's entitled to their opinion.

The blue/green screen work for Pippen/Merry riding Treebeard? Most of the large creatures looked pretty fake as well, like the giant ogre in FOTR. How about Orlando Bloom freakin' climbing and sliding along that giant elephant thing? That looked atrocious. I won't even start about the poor coordination between live-action stuff and CGI backgrounds during complicated camera moves. There were more times than there should have been where I thought I was watching the latest Stephen Sommers movie.

I mean, most of it wasn't low-end stuff, but there was a significant portion that was downright weak.

Weak.

Maybe my memory fails me, but I thought that was done pretty well.

Very weak. They should have just abandoned the scene altogether if they couldn't pull it off. Though I can't remember if it was in the book and a big part.

I love LotR to death, but the part where Legolas jumps on the troll, shoots him with the arrows and jumps off makes me laugh every time at how horrible the CGI looked

It wasn't awful, but a lot of the creatures WETA created were just too elastic and lit differently. They just stood out compared to the way the actors moved and were lit. Those wolf creatures that the enemies rode in TTT also come to mind as being rather nasty looking.

Most of the times when actors interacted physically with the CGI creatures it looked pretty bad in the LOTR films, nearly without exception.

I'm not saying it's all that much worse than other films, but anyone who acts like LOTR set new benchmarks for special effects is just out of their mind.

Wait a minute, so this room is actually not
in the Jedi Temple
but
part of Palpatine's quarters
? Interesting. I'm not really sure how that figures into Yoda surveying damage though... I don't really see how such a scene would make sense or fit in.

I'm more interested in what that vehicle on the right is. Looks a lot like that Trade Federation tank from The Phantom Menace. I always liked that design, so it'd be cool to see a new version return, if that's what it is.

Boogie, I remember now. That was bad. Very bad. He looked like an action figure.

Yeah, agreed. It does plenty of good, but when they get ambitious, the shit hits the fan.

I don't know. I didn't notice any of these you said. I just enjoyed the movie.

Why bother so much about how "fake" something is when everyone obviously knows it is? Everybody knows those things are not real but that still did not stop the trilogy from becoming one of the biggest film trilogy of all time.

You need to chill out and sit back and simply enjoy the film for what it really is. And not what it is not......
