IIFYM (if it fits your macros) mothafuckaaaaas

But eating clean is a healthier mindset in the long term

About to eat a humongous steak and cheese grinder after bench day

In terms of body composition and even recovery, this should be obvious because nutritional macros are macros, all things equal.

Calorie for calorie satiety and additives in fast food is a different story though.

EDIT: People seem to be glossing over a very important piece of information in the article.

"Both the supplement and fast food meals were roughly equal in calories, carbohydrate, and protein"

Which means if you think you can go balls deep at McDonald's after every workout, you will get fat guaranteed.

The thread title is pretty vague. This refers to supplements that are designed to replenish muscle glycogen.

Similarly, rates of glycogen recovery were not different across the diets

Okay so they seemed to have confirmed that supplements have parity with real food.

That sounds like good news to me, because most supplements are just specific components isolated from real food.

The point of supplements is ease of use and $$$ savings. Taking dextrose powder is easier than hitting up Dunkin.

but is it as delicious?

Quest bars are pretty delicious. Quest bar, some fresh fruit, water... makes a pretty nice lunch after a light mid day jog.

Another problem with fast food is that a lot of it is very high in fat, and unless you're in keto or fat adapted, excess fat calories, are going to be stored as fat.

Ran out of my whey protein and was looking to replace it with something, but as a poster above mentioned, "real" food does the same trick and I'm usually in the position to eat within an hour after my workout anyway. My problem is having stuff throughout the day to eat. Healthy snacks like nuts, yogurt, granola/grains, etc. My metabolism (good and bad) is really high and I just don't put on weight. So to build mass, I need to eat throughout the day and it's difficult. Always thought a protein shake in between meals would help, but it's definitely costly.

Any recommendations? Just stick to the snacks I mentioned above?

Eat a few spoonfulls of peanut butter on top of your current eating pattern.

lol theres a guy on youtube he was a champion power lifter this is what he lived by man Mc Donalds and LIFTING BRO!!!!!

yeah he had a massive heart attack and is on medication everyday.

That isn't surprising. It's about the macro distribution. You already need tons of calories as an athlete especially, and if the macros are in order, then fast food should be just as fine as "healthy" food or supplements. Of course there are subtle disadvantages here and there.

I wouldn't recommend mcdonalds as a post-workout meal for the average person trying to stay fit or lose weight though.

while subjects assigned to supplements were given Gatorade, organic peanut butter, and Cliff Shot Bloks.

I would have preferred to see something like Whey Protein Powder over cliff shot bloks and gatorade.

I remember a few years ago the University of Washington Football team started experimenting with replacing their post workout Gatorade with Chocolate Milk. Forget the reasons behind it.

So what were the results? I know chocolate milk helped me greatly in recuperating from muscles fatigue and healing muscles tissues.

Usain Bolt Ate 100 Chicken McNuggets a Day in Beijing and Somehow Won Three Gold Medals

When you burn the amount of calories as Bolt and Phillips do you NEED thousands of calories for your body to keep up, they both have almost no body fat

Except the fat that there is much more fat and sodium in fast food, which is a pretty huge exception.

Yeah. Forget that. Pretty much all of fast food is gross and unhealthy as shit, except for Earl of Sandwhich if you can find one around your area.

And to think, there are actual GAFFERS who eat like this everyday, plus processed and canned foods.

Gross.

Sweet. My supplements are on point then.

Now just need to work on my pre-post-workout workout.

Honestly most people I know eat haribo gummie bears for glycogen recovery post workout.

I just eat a serving of carbs at my next meal.

I just bought a 5 lbs bag of haribo the other day

On a different note, people usually equate looking shreded and being slim with being healthy.
Look at zyzz....

Well duh, the best of us have known that for a long ass time. There's even a whole diet based on it called carb backloading.

Ice cream gainz are best gainz

You saw I used quotes, right?

One of the problems with "clean eating" is no two people can agree what "clean" is.

I would even say that "macros" are overrated. At least outside of protein if you're talking about lifting.

As long as you're calories are on point carb and fat macros don't matter much. Fat is tricky since it's twice as dense as carbs and protein, so you need to limit by necessity.

I just eat chimichangas with ONLY steak and cheese inside. Just nasty fatty fuckboy shit. After a workout it doesn't even fucking matter.

But....what the fuck are those supplements? That regimen sounds idiotic.
