Magazine EGM reveals us some new interesting details concerning the play Zelda which will leave on Nintendo DS. According to the declarations of Eiji Aonuma de Nintendo published in the magazine, this new episode of the series, which should not thus be a simple remake of The Legend of Zelda: Swords furnace, will fully use the touch screen of the portable console. The person in charge who currently works on this project affirms that it will act of a completely new experiment in the Zelda series since a system of new control should be added to the play, and will make it possible to the player to live the adventure of Link starting from a different angle of sight. The player will much further be able this time outward journey and to use the touch screen for touching and directly handling the various objects which our Link hero perceives, a very interesting interaction which allows a greater immersion in the world of Zelda. To follow.

Eiji Aonuma (Nintendo): 'what I can say to you it is that the play will use the touch screen in a very single way to allow the management of a new system of control ever tested in a play Zelda. I think that one of the essential elements of the Zelda series was always the fact of feeling in the situation of Link making actions or to touch objects. This time, you will have the possibility of using the touch screen to even touch these objects you.'

EDIT:

Here's the full translation:

"The magazine EGM has devulged some interesting details about the new Zelda game for the Nintendo DS. according to quotes from Eiji Aonuma published in the magazine, this new episode in the series, which will not be a simple remake of The Legend of Zelda: Four swords, will fully use the touch screen of the portable console. It's going to be second person. You will look directly at Link's face the entire time, and have no idea what's going on.

Here's my translation.

i'm gonna guess first person too, although that won't go over well with some fans... could be cool if thats what it is.

edit// and if they do FP zelda on the ds, they will probably do the same on revolution.

Let me be the first to guess that it'll be first person.

Bull fucking shit. I don't want none of that King's Field or Hexen crap. 2D, 3D, mature, celshaded, I don't care, but keep the same old Zelda camera style.

something tells me that Zelda is going to do something that no one ever thought of doing with the DS.

either that, or the touch screen will be used strictly for controls and what not.

im starting to think you have something for me being that you're always on my ass. out of 10, how badly do you want to fuck me? a 9 right? sure seems like it. check out my myspace. the pictures of me on there should make it easier for you to sleep at night.

You guys must be crazy if you think they'll make it 1st person. 1st person was not chosen arbitrarily for Metroid -- it fit the game style (dark, lonely, enclosed, tense).

They probably mean that Link will have an item like the Magic Manipulating Gloves, so he doesn't have to touch blocks to move them (meaning you touch the blocks with the stylus and drag them) and etc. And I'm sure the point of view will be either top down or fixed isometric (ala Super Mario RPG).

I vote 3d cell shaded but with some kind of musical instrument that gives Link telekinetic powers. That or imagine Animal Crossing... but with Link.

SECRAT INFOMATION

Someone needs to find an archive of this thread!

Ha! My fault! Was searching for info to be used in another thread. Got distracted and forgot how ungodly old this thread was.

My hopes were all up. Then I see old news. OLD NEWS.

Me too. :/

Also, just for the record, changing Zelda to a first person view would officially kill the game. I complained about WW at first, but at least I was still able to play it. Don't fuck with the camera angle for god's sake, Nintendo!

I think it will be something like Another Code.
Topdown view... and close-ups at the top-screen.
You can move with the touchscreen, also attck enemies with the touchscreen.

man wtf? I thought there some REAL new info about this game fucking hell got my hopes up for nothing.

what's with bumping ancient threads anyway... saw a Tales of Symphonia thread from 2004 bumped too. :/

Man, that was so f'in surreal.

I come into this thread thinking, "hey cool, new Zelda info, but oh, look the site's in French. Hey, why don't I translate it for the forum?" then I scroll down one post and find that I ALREADY DID. WTF WRINKLEINTIME

Is there anything you may have missed the first time? Some small overlooked tidbit? A tiny morsel of detail to dig up and provide? For the love of god man, we all need some new Zelda DS information now!
