One of my favorite games on the NES was Contra, the co op play just made it alot more enjoyable to play. Next gen consoles and increase performance should lead to some great online co-op through many genres of gaming.

There's a title I can't remember the name of on the Xbox, action with four player split screen co-op. This had the potential to great, a sequel will surely welcomed.

Conflict Desert Storm, and it had a sequel; Back to Baghdad. Shit hot when you just want to have fun blasting people in the Middle East with friends.

Serious Sam was a great online co-op game. The single player might have been repetitive and boring but going through the game with 3-4 other people is a blast. It's basically an 'arcadey' first person shooter. You're helping each other out but at the same time you're competing against one another in score/frag count. And the amount of enemies on screen is just insane. Very fun
