Just wanted to ask GAFFERS a question,

What are your impressions of the new and improved Xbox Live experience on 360?

The interface is outta this world, the matchmaking and integration in PDZ and PGR are out
of this world, and the games are incredible.

Although, despite MS' best efforts, the A-hole factor prevails. After J Allard talked about sending those with rough language and no class to the "underground", I thought, great!, I'll just put myself in the "pro" division and avoid these pricks. Or so I thought. After playing PGR3 and COD2 for the first 2 nights, my palms sweat with anticipation to play some online multiplayer PDZ.

I boot it up, go to random deathmatch, and as soon as I hear voices, and I mean, within 10 seconds.....

I get called a fa**ot and a ni**er. GET A LIFE PEOPLE

If this is you, and you think talking like this is ok because I can't see you, get the hell out of the "pro" division and into the "underground" with the rest of your stupid redneck trailer trash bastard friends AND LEAVE THE REST OF US THE HELL ALONE.

I mean, I don't mind cussin' here in and there, in fact, I expect the odd frustrated curse when all you're looking at is the back of my Ferrari F50, or if you're at the recieving end of YET ANOTHER head shot from my m16, but leave the racial slurs and hate out of it already.

Does this ruin the experience for anyone else out there? My first impression with PDZ was ruined by a couple low lifes. Sheesh.

That's what the stars are for. Give bad feedback, click "avoid this user" and go on your merry way. HOPEFULLY, after a few months all those assholes will be at 0.5 stars and you'll be up at the 4.5 stars range. Xbox Live won't match you up with those guys anymore. That's the plan anyways.

yep thats the plan. I hope everyone here gives feedback so we can filter out the racists and assholes. I hope after a month or two, XBL system match up assholes with other assholes, saving the rest of the community from their presence.

that system is fucking broken though. just about half the regular H2 GAF players copped a ban at some point due to bad feedback, beat some whiney crying bitches and they drop you bad feedback. And guess what, there are a lot of whiney crying spiteful bitches on xbox live.

I'm worried the assholes will start getting their asshole friends to send positive feedback to get their stars back. That's why I think the stars shouldn't be visible to the user, just let Live do its thing.

And as Catfish said, assholes will also give good players bad feedback, but hopefully it'll balance itself out.

if you are actually asking if there are people like that in here, you can better go to IGN or gamespot or even gamefaqs for that matter. Not here I guess.

Yea, I don't really buy that. First, everyone on Xbox uses voice which is still hit or miss in PC gaming too often. Secondly, everything is really easy to use so I think the scene skews younger and dumber.

Also, there's never been a shortage of anonymous pricks on PC.

The problem with the stars is that as long as they get NO feedback, it's like getting positive feedback. You'll notice your rating climbs with every match you play online, whether you get positive feedback or not.

So basically, whenever anyone's being a dick online, be sure to give them negative feedback (set them on avoid and say why). Otherwise, it's like you're telling everyone this dude's OK to play with.

One more thing -- check their gamercards when you're about to play. If you check their rep, there are actually records of how much bad feedback they've got and what it was for (percentages pointing out feedback for cursing, causing a commotion on voice chat, disconnects, unsportsmanlike, aggressiveness and so on). Don't just rely on the star rating, but dig a bit deeper and see what kind of gamer that person really is.

Personally, I think they need to change the rep setup a bit. Having to give specific feedback for an "avoid" is a great idea, as is recording it. But equating no feedback to positive feedback is stupid, because you have to figure 85% of the folks you play against won't leave any feedback at all anyway.

Obviously there are pricks on PC, always have been, always will be. But my recent experiences with new, popular PC games have almost been shithead free (w/ a few obvious exceptions here and there). And you're right about younger and dumber kids getting online with consoles which throws back to my point. Idiots new to this online thing will say and do dumb shit for quite awhile until they either A) get tired of it B) get banned for it or C) grow up.

Though you say that you didn't do it to troll, consider that you entered a thread about the system one that (I think i can safely say you probably don't own), and let everyone know that the losers make you happy, because of being 'anti-xbox.' you know, i've been a lurker here for more than 8 months now. I've seen and go all sorts of threads. And just for taking an example.. me saying that his pet was ugly, wasnt anything different than anyone else would say on GAF. Those kinda things are being said on GAF, hell all sorts of things are said here.
