This is why competition is great. Without Microsoft everyone would be stuck buying a PS5 that would seem amazing but in reality, there was a company and engineers who figured out a better way to design a console.

I am so impressed by the speed/efficiency PS5 has and SONY never disappointed me since PS1 always they deliver with performance, efficiency, price. I believe it will deliver a good price point! I will definitely be getting PS5 on day one! XSX will have to wait untill black friday with more games to come. can't buy console that doesn't have exclusives I am looking forward to just yet. but XSX it has to wait 2021-22 Black friday

This is precisely why this was a dumb idea, to have a GDC lecture for masses first insight on PS5.
All that technical jargon flew above 99% of viewers, all they see is spec sheets which are one-sided in favor of Series X. And there are no games to help them rationalize what these specs can do, Sony PR has been downright atrocious for past 2 years.

For those downvoters I can assure you around what point they started mass-downvoting and it wasn't the conference itself otherwise the ratio would've been notable from the start.
But gotta also keep in mind most people on that stream are literal kids and teens, the ones most suspect to console warring and posting cringe comments in stream chats. Don't think their disapproval in this case should be taken reflective of too much.
That said, Sony will hopefully find a way to re-strengthen their messaging leading up to launch.

If Sony doesn't have VRS and Microsoft has exclusivity on it like what has been suggested then I am slightly concerned given the gpu performance deficit.
The lower bandwidth and 256bit bus along with CU deficit and lack of VRS point to a large gap in frame rate/image quality at higher resolutions.

Good point. But there's something else going on here as well. The Github leak for MS showed 56 CU's with only 52 active I believe, which is what people tend to expect- CU's being disabled is standard practice for chip yield reasons. But the MS RELEASE shows 52CU's as the FULL CU'S on the chip! Same for Sony..Github showed 36 active CU's and people assumed that meant at least 40 CU's on chip with 4 disabled.
So has AMD solved yield issues to the extent that manufacturers can have no "wasted" silicon in the form of disabled CU's? If so, that's pretty HUGE, isn't it? Again, unless my recall is failing me here. That could mean BIG things for manufacturers in the future.
I'm still wondering what MS split memory pool with a good chuck of "slow" memory will mean for the overall performance of the box. Again, I think that's one reason that "sources" all felt the two would have similar TF numbers. Real world performance MAY WELL IN FACT BE almost indistinguishable between them. Depending on these factors.
Bottom line, we need to see the games. But I'm confident we will all be happy with either system overall. I just think Sony went for smaller form factor as well as a different philosophy to get performance. Also expect they were continuing to target the $399 area where MS will likely have to be at at least $499 unless they take a large loss per unit. We'll see!

Also the GPU on PS5 is clocked so high that I'm having doubts how quiet the console will be. Cerny didn't say anything what their cooling solution actually is which is concerning.

Also Cerny implies the way they can keep the PS5 quiet is by cutting back on power, so it won't get loud but it'll be like 8 TF most of the time.

This was a big win for MS. Despite showing nothing themselves (they just showed two last-gen games running on a better hardware), they actually came out far more prepared than Sony.

Is it really important to have 12TF if you can also play your games at 4k @ 60fps with 10TF and your 4K TV which can't even do more actually? And we don't even know if these ~ 2TF will make themselves felt in the end?

Multiplats aren't determinant of console success. Exclusives are. Wii, Switch, and PS4 stand as proof of that. The most powerful console is usually not the one that wins the console generation.
If PS5 exclusives accomplish things that XSX exclusives simply cannot because of the dramatically faster SSD, then that will matter far more than slightly better looking multiplats.
We know of 2 major PlayStation exclusives coming to PC (Horizon and Death Stranding). One is coming out on PC 3 years after its release, the other was planned to be on PC a long time ago. We can't assume PS5 exclusives are launching on PC too (even though I'd love if that were the case).

I'm curious to know if that "special sauce" 3D audio CU (modified to resemble an SPU-like processor) could be utilized in the future to offer PS3 BC...
Interested to see how Sony takes it from here. They should be looking to underprice the XSX at all costs. Also what about the form factor? They should be targeting something the size of the original PS4. If it's as big as the devkit they were showing then people may aswell buy the larger XSX and place it somewhere next to their TV.
