After watching that loading demo between the two consoles, I have a question for someone much more knowledgeable than myself. Why does the loading timer appear to speed up after the Series S has finished loading? To my untrained eye, it looks as if the timers are going at a normal pace together, and then the One S timer noticeable speeds up after 12 seconds.

Out of curiosity I tried timing it myself and I got around 38-39 seconds when the timer for the One S was at 53. I was thinking maybe they just sped up the video so you don't have to sit through the countdown, but it didn't appear to me that gameplay for the Outer Worlds on the Series S side had been sped up.

Anyone might know a reason for why it appears this way? For a gamer with no tech background like myself, it gives the impression that they wanted to make the loading difference between the One S and the Series S appear greater than it actually is.

They just speed it up so you won't have to wait that much and feel the pain of this generation loading.
Amd they didn't speed up the Series S video.

Something that was supposed to be used only a couple of times seems like it will be used for every game now...
The people who thought devs wouldn't use the haptics didn't think clearly.

Its like saying a PS4 game won't use the rumble on the DualShock 4. All games use it.
 
Unless it would end up losing Sony an insane amount of money due to a drastically different BOM (unlikely), there is no way at this point they won't price match the XSX at $499. There is no need to go lower than that with the standard model, the overall brand recognition, better games offer and technical advantages (like the I/O) will be more than enough to make it more than competitive against the XSX.

The real game they have to play now is Digital Edition against XSS. Will they simply ignore it and go for $50 cheaper (closest to BOM difference with the standard model)? Will they try to push harder knowing they will make up with game revenue from PSN and go with $399. Or, crazy idea, will they REALLY push it and go down to something completely insane, like $349, just to aggressively cut-out XSS? They might manage to recoup the cost thanks to said digital only nature and guaranteed sales through their store, but it will be a much more significant hit on their immediate revenue, and could end up somehow make their own other model redundant to most consumers.

Final estimates by me:

- PS5 Standard = $499 (90% chance); $449 (5% chance); $549 (5% chance)
- PS5 Digital = $399 (75% chance); $449 (15% chance); $349 (10% chance)

That's what I'm expecting but take into account that Microsoft already announced the price. If Sony can go that low they will most likely price match them. Maybe even undercut the XSX with the PS5 DE if they can.

But by how much though? If it's just by $50 then you lose out on the ability to play your physical discs on a less powerful system (on paper) so i'm not 100% sure that would be a convincing argument. Undercut them by $100 though and then we're talking.

So you don't have to wait a full 50+ seconds to see the actual loading time of the Xbox one S.

There were a lot less people noticing that than the amount of people timing the R&C demo, I'll tell you that.
 
Don't forget to finance to the All Access, adding more debt is the true next gen experience.

The ongoing fees sucking consumers money with gamepass disincentivising other purchases is a sure way to make 3rd parties consider not support your box. Should be an interesting generation it just feels like they're cannibalizing the entire reason they exist.

Exactly. Microsoft are boldly saying to gamers ... don't buy games, just pay us and no one else. I bet some publishers don't like that idea.
 
If they manage, with games, to buy me some xbox one day it will not be "the Less" chosen, buying cheap is buying twice ...

More thank likely, if its a big team with a lot of resources it's probably fine; if not, then it's another project people will need to find the time to work on and deliver.
Remedy and Infinity Ward are pretty big though, and they are saying this.

its just to save time, they didnt want to sit there for full 57 secs

Where are the people saying this was going to load faster than the PS5?

If my math is correct, this is around what, 1.2GB/s assuming they can use the whole RAM (they can't)?


What am i missing here, is that 12 seconds to load the finished game. No disrespect here but that seems really crappy to me.
I was expecting a game like that to his a couple of seconds at the most, why the hell is it so long. If i recall the state of decay 2 demo was like 6 + seconds or so, why is it not in line with this or less.

Is it the developers that are falling here or is the hardware, not all that it's cracked up to be.
I wonder what the ps will load it in then or is it going to be the same. Mind you, is that a Microsoft studio.

I would not of showed a demo loading 12 secs, surely they could of found some much faster loads to present there stuff
 
no it can't look that good it doesn't use any new tech that pc does these consoles are very limited it doesn't have shader capability pc does anyway anything that looks this good means it's not gameplay. :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Considering the S has been an open secret for so long (plus the way it was eventually unveiled), It seems like even MS were unsure about it; and by releasing it, MS might have lost goodwill among some devs.

You didn't finish posting the entire conversation I had with @EviLore where we both agreed that "personal attacks" should and will be moderated more closely. I can conversate all day long about the PS5/XSX/PC and it's strengths/merits/etc.. but I can't stand the constant dogpiling of Xbox gamers here on this thread specifically and definitely can't stand someone trying to make me look like I'm a menace to society because I have been wrong about judging some things in the past. isnt it because its not optimized for series x? like will PS4 games load in 2secs? wouldnt they need to still program for the advantages of the architectures
