Yield issues are a cost issue for the Foundry and their consumers (aka Sony)... it is something the Foundry and customer wants to fix ASAP because you lose money proportionally to the amount of chip you produce.

Exactly, there are two big players in chip manufacturing, TSMC and Samsung, if one of them dropped the ball so hard like that after so many 7nm chips have been produced, clients would flee to competition.

Wondering what AMD would do with those defective chips, can they use them elsewhere?

Being a Sony fan myself I look forward to what Sony can show me tomorrow.

What interests me the most on the Xbox side is what that 12 tf machine can do head to head vs the PS5.

I know we wont see these comparisons until well after launch but I want to see Cyberpunk and Call of Duty some of those big games what are the differences.

Plus I have always enjoyed Forza so really look forward to seeing that on the XsX.

I'm mildly curious about graphical differences but with the PS5 SSD just being hands down a lot faster my multi-plat machine decision is already made personally.

But from a tech geek perspective yeah I'm curious to ACTUALLY see XSX in action and the comparisons that will come out in November/December. From my casual observations I have my doubts the 12TF will actually outdo Sony's customizations.

I have found it completely asinine the sheer amount of FUD that xbox fans have tried shoveling. GAF might shut it down quickly, but that shit trickles-down to the likes of Facebook, and the 'games journalists/websites' then come along and regurgetate it for clickbait, knowing damn well it's not true.

I'd mostly say that the vast majority of any critisisms towards XB has come because of MS themselves (Craig, feel like no proper next gen games, Series S' limitations).

I think that's an excellent point and one of my main pet peeves when it comes to "gaming journalism" or "influencers". The amount of sheer ignorance they demonstrate about anything the least bit technical is staggering. And they wear it like a badge of honor, like somehow their opinion takes carry more weight because they don't know a Teraflop from a Megabit.

I don't know how many here are UFC fans, but it would be like Joe Rogan commentating live on a title fight and having takes like:

So actually he's right. Xbox Series S will only ship with a "High Speed" HDMI cable. It has a 2.1 out port though.
Only the Series X will ship with an "Ultra High Speed" HDMI cable.

Also Xbox has confirmed nothing extra is included with the console in box (like a game or Game Pass etc.)

But the S's cable in box is not capable of 4K30 HDR video, High Speed maxes out at 4K 24Hz.

Basically, HDMI cables are:
High Speed = 1.4 (PS4 and Xbox One shipped with)
Premium High Speed = 2.0 (PS4 Pro, Xbox One X shipped with these)
Ultra High Speed = 2.1 (PS5 and XSX)

I really hope that that 15% extra power is going to show up in Digital foundry tests between the consoles, i am afraid for the sanity of my friends like TheGreatWhiteShark and @X-Fighter if the tests are basically equal or show like no upgrades

True, but you know that even if, .. let's pick Gran Turismo 7... has 120FPS, as soon as there are graphical pop-in issues spotted or lights in a tunnel which don't come on when they're supposed to, there are people who will come out in force about them. For example, something like... just look at your under powered machine. To get 120FPS, they can't handle the graphics work load...etc.

120fps is, imo, a stupid and wasteful target to have this gen. All this power and they want to waste it on double the frame rate? Especially when they're already giving so much to get native 4K. Most people simply won't notice or care.

Target 60fps on most games, that's a huge improvement on the 30 FPS we've got on most games this gen and every gen since the introduction of the 3D gaming.

All digital is relatively unknown territory for PS so I'd assume a pretty conservative split like 70:30 or even 80:20 unless they price it under $399.
