Yea, you thought but even MS confirmed the game "most of the time" was at that 4k, but you can see for yourself all the places where VRS is EXTREMELY used, to 720P... in the case of DS, even they saying is 1440p once you zoom in, you can see why they say "it's hard to know", that shit has smaller pixels than Halo...
Which btw, is exactly what bo, was trying to say, WITH PICTURES... and not just the rocks, Bo sent a picture of a light, which have clearly larger pixels than DS too...

Well yes, but these BC games are just loading games as is with no patch applied! That they already load much faster is great. If a fully optimised patch taking full advantage of VA and decompression etc was implemented then I would expect load times as short as ~2-4 seconds for One/One X games or at least somewhat faster.
The Gears 5 update patch should give a first taste of what a real world updated game can provide here.

ah yeah, i have seen those pics. thats why ive always maintained that resolution and native pixels are trash because devs will start using these bizarre tricks to get that native 4k at the back of the box. vrs is only going to make things a lot harder for DF to pixel count.

My final point regarding DF...
- They say DS is 1440 even if is hard for them to tell it, and we trust them, they don't say why is hard, or how is hard, but we trust them, great that's 1440p.
- But they have never said the resolution of Halo, no once they have taken the time to show us the resolution of Halo.
So yea, magnifier for one company, completely not talking about the EXACT SAME ASPECT when talking about the other company. This is what it is frustrating, for people that have a VERY STANDARDIZED process, this stuff, of some analysis been done just in one platform, this is WEIRD, and you can call it how you want, but people see bias.

Where ? Also resolution is not everything, the above looks like shit, its not native 4K and it looks bad.
1440p UE5 demo looks 3 generations ahead of halo.
People transfixed on simpler numbers, resolution is not the performance hog anyway, quality pixels, lighting and ray tracing is.
Halo could be 8K and it would still look like a pig with lipstick on.....
Instead of asking is it 4K, we should be asking what is the quality of the images, lighting, ray tracing.

The game looks like crap, and we know why MS couldn't present in an XSX, I'm not mad at MS, I'm mad a DF for having a standardized and very respectful analysis with just one company.
DF shows us in the video the frame drops of DS, but they just told us the framerate of Minecraft with RT, it would have been amazing to see the standard video showcase where we all can see the Minecraft "small issues" that can be corrected before launch. They didn't show us that.
It's doing these things differently between two companies that people are calling out. No conspiracies can be found there, see it by yourself, and call me a liar if they used THE EXACT SAME APPROACH when judging both presentations and games of both companies...

Yeah, The pixels at the edge of the wood in Demon's Souls are as small as pixels seen in other native 4K PC games.
I am not sure if it's native 4K because if it is, Bluepoint would come out and say the game is native 4K. However, the game is using a fantastic image reconstruction that rivals DLSS.
Halo infinate, on the other hand, is trash. Some part of the screen are 720P while other parts are like 4K. The textures, shaders, and assest quality are X360 gen.

Lumen high quality Voxel global illumination is still a performance hog and where most of the frame budget went, the rendering took 4ms I recall, nothing..
We would be ina NICE place to get such great global illumination in games however its done.

It was very well put above, that you cannot call yourself objective when you look at the games of one company with an airplane view and your conclusion is "yeah its fine 4k most of time" although the gameplay video itslef shows otherwise. And then when it comes to the gameplay presented by the competition you go down to pixel level analysis so that you can find something wrong with it.
The icing on the cake being that they basically guess the resolution bc it is hard to determine it trough traditional px counting.

I'm still waiting for someone to explain to me why we had to rely on epic to tell us the resolution... I get the small pixels thing, but hey, reconstruction from 1440p to 4K is impressive that we all applaud DLSS for doing it correctly, I just wish there was a company that could tell us how Epic or PS5 is doing it.

Am I happy they had the balls to postpone it and release it in 2021 when it looks and plays the way it was intended? Definitely.
Sure XSX might not have an exclusive launch game that is really worth playing (for my taste), but knowing what is coming, I don't think XSX buyers have something to complain about. 2021 brings Halo Infinite, MAYBE Starfield, and probably the new Forza Motorsport. That alone are already 3 heavy hitters that I'm looking forward to. Until then, I'll play Cyberpunk, AC: Valhalla, Apex Legends, and the improved Forza Horizon 4.

From what we DO know, Nanite is using its geometry compression to have polygons fill out pixel formation to help cover up aliasing, combine that with Epic's TAAU and you have a faked output that EXCEEDS 4K at times due to the dynamism of the native frame buffer, which averages around 1404p.

We've driven nearly every convo into the ground but at least stuff like SSD or power differences are actual next-gen speculation lol Feel like moaning about DF is severely off topic.. but then again so is moaning about Twitter fanboys, and that's half this thread.
I'd love to re-visit convos about how BC is going to work on PS5, since we'll actually find out soon.. I'm expecting all BC to run at PS5 clocks myself, and am happy about it.. but everyone seems to expect PS5 to downlock. One sort of last piece of info I'm waiting for confirmation on myself.

While checking out Resolution Standards.1440p/60fps or 2160p/30fps
I saw where Sony got the resolutions 1440p and 1800p with the PS4 Pro.
But I also saw 50fps as a standards.
Why aren't games caped at 50fps for more stable frame rate?
I mean games run at any frame rate when unlock.
So maybe 1800p/50fps could be a thing?

Which I don't own... I don't have a gaming PC, and PS5 doesn't offer the games that will release on Game Pass in the future. (Halo Infinite, Starfield, ES6, Everwild, Forza, Fable, etc.).
I could buy the PS5 now, and the XSX in the future. But I'm doing it the other way around, since PS5 games are so expensive. Will buy those exclusives on the cheap once PS5 Pro releases.
