PS5's Fan Will Be Adjusted with Firmware Updates

PlayStation's Yasuhiro Otori revealed that optimisations will occur post-launch as well – with the system's fan able to be adjusted with firmware updates.

"Various games will be released in the future, and data on the APU's (Accelerated Processing Unit) behaviour in each game will be collected," Otori revealed. "We have a plan to optimise the fan control based on this data." Further context from 4Gamer.net adds: "PS5 has three temperature sensors on the main board to control the fan speed based on the internal temperature of the APU and the highest temperature of the three temperature sensors. These fan control parameters will also be updated via online updates."

In an email statement sent to MP1st, here's what Sony had to say:

We can confirm that the PS5 will also become available in MY/TH/ID/PH/VN and that we are currently in the process of preparation towards the launch.
SIES will make announcement on MY/TH/PH/ID/VN release dates and pricing when we are ready. Please keep a lookout for our local announcements on PS5 release in respective countries.

They bought it, and then never updated it again?

It's a non-stop living game, would be silly that after 6 years, you wouldn't acknowledge that it's basically a Microsoft game now.

was responding to post suggesting that ms cannot make great games and suggesting some sort of templated approach (based on scores), so yeah flight sim is a valid option here

I didn't say that. But the foundation of minecraft was bought not made. The core of it is still the same. Like if Sony buys Halo I wouldn't be saying wow Sony made a great shooter.

This is the problem of xbox so far

Always the same 3-4 games, forza, gears, halo.

And if gamer finds those to be boring as fuck, it is not worth of buying console for low quality exclusives what are left + 3rd party, if competitor offers more of your liking + 10x more exclusives


And using gears as system seller is same as I would claim "yeah well Playstation have division 1+2(if they would be exclusives)", like they arent that bad(I liked them) but they hardly are masterpieces. And gears games are just epicly boring if cover shooters arent your thing.(division does it on interesting environment + isnt really cover shooter, but similar genres)

They should have 30 exclusives to talk about, not just the same old 3-4 games.

Just bit funny how so many people say "but halo, gears, forza" like they would be universally loved games?

Yep. I think the important thing is how new games will turn out now that they are under Microsoft's umbrella.
It's not fair to make fun of games like Fallout 76 and say that's a MS thing, just as it's not fair to give credit to MS for a game like Doom Eternal.

PS5 can adjust fan speed according to diverse areas that are hot, cold, dusty, and so on with a system update if needed. Interesting 🤔

It's a complete mess to play on now. So yeah definitley a microsoft game lol. QA is nonexistant with them apparently

How does that work with studios Sony only recently bought? If Insomniac would make Sunset Overdrive 2, and only release it on PS5. Is this then not a Sony game? Because the foundations were made for Xbox? Personally I would still call that a Sony game.

Hell look at the complaints online. Bedrock edition is a buggy unstable mess. Truth hurts

i have got what you are saying, these are 3 main ip's that ms is hammering, but they do offer quite a variety; FPS, TPS, rts, racer (arcade/sim) different genres but same ip's, thing is that this seems to be changing, we have got already announced; hellblade 2, project Mara, everwild, fable reboot, avowed, tes6, starfield, next round of zenimax FPSes (dishonored, doom, prey, wolfenstein), for flight sim and age of empires I hope that these will come to xbsex as well

there are still some first party studios that ms owns that we have no idea what they are working on (compulsion, the initiative etc.)

I know it's Wiki. You can dismiss it if you wish, but I'm happy to see another source showing Skyrim on PS4 outsold GoW. Sales of the actual game would be the metric. Skyrim doesn't even appear in the top 20 29

The interesting thing is Singapore had a second round of launch day pre order (initial one sold out very quickly), at the same time the rest of the SEA countries had Holiday 2020 removed from their respective websites. I wonder if any stock allocated to those countries was rerouted to Singapore.

Very much looking forward to pages and pages of people arguing about barely discernable differences between two video game consoles (y)

...because that IS what's going to happen. All of this back and forth, all of this arguing, will come down to one console playing one game a bit better, and the other console playing another game a bit better. And the games that run a little bit better on XBox will be held up by XBox fans, and the games that run a little better on Ps5 will be held up Sony fans. And the arguing between the two sides will continue for no adequately explored reason... until Amazon comes along, and everybody gangs up on them.

It's easier to make a game that already has a very solid foundation and user base than it is a brand new game.

I can't fault them if they did. Sales volume should be higher in Singapore, with their stronger economy. I'm not sure consoles are popular in neighboring countries. Us expats might constitute a fairly substantial portion of the userbase in the region.

Yes the dev is educating him how to analyze a game performance by providing links to other outlets who actually know how to do that properly. It is an embarrassing but a deserved reply when someone stupidly produced a clickbait video and title.

I'm confident the initial batch of consoles would have sold just as well in the other SEA countries though. Perhaps games/accessories may have sold more here but it's hard to tell. Could even be delays in regulatory approval in the country. Will know if that was the reason once units are available, as the logos on the box/unit/manual will reveal all.

Makes you think people buy consoles to race them like cars. :D . Which brings me to the 50 years of "Ford vs Holden" rivalry in Australia. We all know how that ended, and is somehow poignantly fitting to what you said.

So if I buy better TV. It will get rid of all texture, lightning and pop problems seen in that video? Are there any TV's currently on the market certified to work with the speed of XSX, or they will be available after the launch? Which one would you recommend?
