No one has any faith in rocksteady & wbgames after the colossal failures of arkham knights and suicide squad. At this point, even if they simply copied and pasted one of the older games into a new engine, they'd somehow still find a way to fuck it up.

I keep reading that because all key talent from Rocksteady left ages ago this will blow. That didn't stop Camouflaj from making an authentic Arkham game last year (which was incredible by the way, easily one of my top 3 Batman games and my personal GOTY 2024). If Rocksteady's new blood have the same respect and dedication to the franchise as Camouflaj did, they can pull it off too.

The current Rocksteady simply aren't capable of making a standalone Batman game on the level of past entries.

What exactly do we have to look forward to? Another Mrs Freeze or feminist simp Lex Luthor? If all they intend to do is bastardise the franchise with woke then what's the point? They were so afraid of a sexy Poison Ivy they simply turned her into a child in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.

Personally, I would love to see something like Batman of the Future; Court of Owls (concept already wasted in Gotham Knights), the Hush storyline (which was touched on in past games), Long Halloween or even a proper build towards the Justice League with Batman travelling to Metropolis and meeting Superman for the first time. Ultimately it doesn't matter, even if Rocksteady nail the concept it will fall flat if they come at us with these insufferable current day reinterpretations of established characters.

Long Halloween focused game would be amazing! I had my wife buy me another copy at Christmas because I lent it out years ago and of course didn't get it back.

People who want a solid Arkham game and are open to VR should seriously consider getting a Quest 3s, Arkham Shadow comes with and its dope. Has its VR limitations but it's a legit Arkham game, really impressive stuff.

Lots of tiresome takes in here. Rocksteady/WB pissed you off, I get it. And not without good reason I guess, the games had issues, but it does make me hesitant to continue looking at these forums when it's just whiny reaction post followed by whiny reaction post. Here's me complaining about "neogaf used to be more fun to read through." Anyway Rocksteady may not be what they once were, and the new game might be a ways out, but it is their chance to redeem themselves - here's hoping they make good on that.

in the meantime they could update arkham games again for ps5, also see about bringing over arkham origins for a full batman collection. this cans be the filler as way of getting people excited without needing to rush out the new game.

if it needs to be on ps6 so be it just make sure it's right, fun and plays well, no suicide squad or gotham knights treatment.

We're lucky we got those great Batman Arkham games on PS3, way back in 2008, 2009. The stealth eccentric, 3rd person super hero vibe, mature Bruce Wayne with Batman and his gadgets, collecting riddles, upgrades all of it made me really enjoy Arkham Asylum. The sequels were still good. Batman Beyond would be a great addition. He's a blend of Batman and Robin.

Probably by using some strange batman setting that does not jell with general audiences. Like the setting from Telltale's Batman, or the one(s?) where batman is poor.

I think I'd rather a remaster of Arkham Knight. While the tank battles are excessive, the game plus its story dlc really makes it a great game. Current Rocksteady will never be able to make a game the quality of ANY of the games in the Arkham series and that includes Origins (WB Montreal can't make a good Batman game anymore either). Probably will be as awful as Gotham Knights (i know I'm mixing devs here) but will sell more due to Batman.

I was very hard on Origins originally because I could immediately feel that it wasn't the same devs I loved on the other entries. But I tried it again recently, and compared to current games... actually it's pretty decent. It shows how far things have fallen in general.

Same ...just because they're back making a single player Batman game doesn't make me have any faith it'll be good ....Suicide Squad was just a downright terrible game according to every metric aside from maybe being technically competent. I can't get over how little there actually is to that pos game. The gameplay loop is so basic and repetitive. What a piece of shit it is. Even the graphics kinda sucked now that I think about it.
