1.5x the performance per watt and 1.25x IPC from Navi/RDNA, choo choo!

This means, say, a 11Tflop part would perform as a current 13.75Tflop Vega part, at lower power, and more if you matched the power.

I'm getting 160-170W with Vega 56 performance and 190-200W with Vega 64 performance going by their Strange Brigade demo. They fill the same TDP tiers as RX 570 and RX 580. That's assuming they demoed the Navi 10XT. Adored was way off on everything.

She confirmed Sony worked together with Navi.

So 12TF to 13TF on a $500 system add in 1.25x IPC and you get 15-16.25TF worth of Vega performance
RTX2080/1080Ti performance on a consoles, the next gen leap won't be so small after all.

and that's before we factor in TBR and VRS

Elephant in the room - mentions Sony with Navi - didn't mention MS ..

I didn't think possible, but now I wonder - did xbox get Navi or not ??

[edit] - beat me to it by a second :
Does this mean Xbox will be stuck with Vega?

Maybe... maybe not.

She could be talking about Sony’s own semi-custom chip only.

So MS will have it own.

She at the end of MS part said there is some other partnership like in gaming and the MS girl said they are happy to bring the next level ;)

I don't know how you end up with those numbers. It's more like Navi 10 line is 9-11TF at *edit*160-200W and performance between the Vega 56 and Vega 64. She mentioned improvements with cache that would likely be your TBR. PS5 should have 150-160W peak consumption for it's GPU. It's Navi 10 Lite.

So Navi is the next-gen AMD GPU architecture once rumoured (thanks to AMD's dishonest roadmaps- but that's how the game is played) for the end of 2020 or later. This is game changing news for the new consoles. And *yes* both Sony and MS are getting the same tech (please drop this sh-t about the long obsolete Vega, which only exists because that dreadful engineer- now crapping things up at Intel- forced his hopeless HBM project on *three* generations of the same thing).

Navi (now we know what Navi is) exploits all the new AMD patents, and they are 90% focused on power efficiency- work per watt. And that is brilliant news for you console heads. Indeed I'd now extend considerably speculation about just how fast the Xbox Next and PS5 will be. AMD's micro die 5700 GPU sails close to 1080TI perfomance on games with modern engines. The new consoles will have a *lot* more GPU performance than the 5700.

PS Navi and Zen2 have been finished for a long time. A console appears a few months after the main chip can be mass manufactured. I'd guess for Sony and MS, TSMC is running red hot as I type.

Somebody made a transcript on ERA from the end of MS part.

Done by @DopeyFish - much thanks.
Lisa: AMD and Microsoft have been partners for a long time, but our relationship has changed. Can you talk a little bit about our relationship and what we're doing together?
Roanne: Absolutely. So for me, I look back to 2 years ago when we started back in redmond, AMD and Microsoft started planning the next generation Ryzen family together and I think that we have completely moved the needle in how we approach co-development together.... and you're going to see that in what comes to market from both the device level, the driver level and even the customer experiences that are going to be delivered. [random pc talk/customer stuff]

Lisa: so our audience is always wondering... what's next?

Roanne: *grinning ear to ear to Lisa*
Lisa: *grinning ear to ear to Roanne*

<5 seconds later>

Lisa: are you going to tell them?!

Roanne: I KNOW... OH IF ONLY I COULD... Lisa and I have some inside scoops on the depth of partnership between AMD and Microsoft... not just in PC space but also when it comes to the datacenters and cloud and when it comes to graphics and gaming... I am <really> excited about the stuff that we're doing there.... I think it's going to be next level in terms of the things that you can expect from us... [random closing remarks]

. It's more like Navi 10 is 9-11TF at 170-200W and performance between the Vega 56 and Vega 64.
Vega64 is a 12.7TF card hence why i expect anything from 12 to 13TF
12TF Navi is 15TF worth of Vega (1.25x IPC) that puts it on 2080/1080Ti territory
PS5 should have 150-160W peak consumption for it's GPU. It's Navi 10 Lite.
MS managed to port a 180W GPU in there, 12TF should be perfectly doable. 13TF its on the high end of my expectations, it will probably be something in between.

True but that still leaves VRS which has to be implemented by the dev

~155W and ~175W was the total system peak power consumption for PS4 Pro and Xbox One X respectively. They put a power capped RX 480 with superior memory bandwidth and more cache in the X1X. Polaris 10 doesn't scale well at high clocks, the RX 580 is a bad comparison.

In AMD favored titles like Strange Brigade, DOOM/Wolfenstein, RE, Navi 10 XT will probably be faster than a 2070 like the Sapphire rep said. All in all, probably about the same or a little less powerful. I'd guess Navi 10 Pro is your 160-170W 2060 and Navi XT is a 190-200W 2070. Listed TDP, actual peak consumption higher under gaming load and boost bios.

That's my point MS managed to put the equivalent of a power hungry RX 580 inside the X, they fine tuned the card to consume less
HW wise its a 580 and performs like one
Actually the X GPU is better than the RX580 (more CUs, TMUs, cache) a higher CU card card can hit a better performance per watt sweetspot which is why i mantain PS5 will use a 56-64CU GPU

Consoles won't use of the shelf discrete cards
A 56-64CU GPU at 12TF to 13TF should match RTX2080.

Stolen this from era, the leak kinda makes sense. Now I’m wondering if Sony has Navi exclusively.

Given this news, that’s why I don’t discount the 8-9 TF rumors for the PS5. It would surpass Vega 64 at a much lower TPD.

If anything it kills 8-9 TF rumors
Navi will offer higher clocks and more CUs per mm2 than Vega, making a 56-64CU card is feasible on consoles APUs

Like the Radeon VII matches the 2080?

It does trade blows with it in benchmarks yes
12TF with a 1.25x IPC is actually 15TF! worth of vega perfomance; higher than Radeon VII

Benchmarks don't mean jack. Show me in game performance, where the 2080 has an undeniable lead.

I just don't understand how you think 3 years (or less) after the Xbox one x, console manufacturers are going to be able to cram 2x the graphical horsepower into a similar sized chassis? It's incredibly optimistic - diminishing returns are a thing.

I'll definitely come back to this thread when ps5 launches and eat all the crow in the world if I'm wrong.
