On the bright side they safe a lot on the gpu right? So we have a cheaper console. 400 maybe? And if it works with the variable clocks i have no problem.
If the price is $399 I am fine with it, if it's the same price or a little lower than the Series X, they can get fucked. (Unless Series X is $399 too, doubtful though).
Is this machine just a giant heatsink?

Did the PS5 hype train run over the Xbox? I couldn't bear to look!

Regardless of everything, I'm excited to finally get to play the titles I've bought for my base PS4 in an acceptable frame rate. Lookin' at you two, Prey 2017 and Dishonored 2.

almost all PS4 titles will be playable on ps5....lol

Well that is expected cause in order to run well games will need to be patched to detect PS5 and running accordingly. They already managed to get other publishers to be aware of this and patch which ever they consider to run on PS5. A selection of what each publisher wants, so its Sony but mostly other choosing what they want to get up and running. 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

unless PS5 is 399 and xbox sx is 599, they went cheap, instead of pushing the envelope, they went cheap after all that talk that it is a premium console. sony always pushed the boundaries and now? cheap.
As i play on pc and playstation. Sony will be the go to console for me because of the exclusives. But ill wait how their pc strategy moves forward. Multiplats will be on my pc anyway

Hahaha probably. I mean they had a lot of time to test the console. Would be pretty dumb if it causes problems at those clocks 😂

And given that a large part of the world may be unemployed for a big chunk of the year, that may be to their benefit. I wanted more flops but the price/power dynamic is gonna be interesting to see played out with the economic shit show looming.

even no word on the amount of RAM. he is basically like" we can do everything with PS5 but nothing at best, but still you can load a game in seconds" MAAAAANNNN WHO CAAAAARESSSSSS
THere was a slide which said PS5 had 16GB GDDR6 ram

Ok, who had pasted an image of the reddit thread with every insider's PS5 TF number? It must have been 50 pages back by now.

Almost all of them were around 12tf or more.

Actually it's not a bad machine. I see 399 dollars price.

And those numbers are not typical boost clocks. Those are typical peak clocks, but the system will downclock under certain circumstances to save power and limit thermals.

Better API, higher clocks and Geometry Engine may cut the power difference. Do you realize that it is only 18% in GPU RAW POWER?

But e teraflop on 2.2 ghz will perform better than teraflop on 1.8 ghz.

Uh, how did you get the 16% figure?
XSeX GPU is 20% faster. (that 10Tf something isn't even sustained)
CPU is also faster.
SSD is a more than two times slower.

Arrogant Sony.
I'm from team "low TFs".
There is nothing arrogant whatsoever about 36CUs.
[/QUOTE]

Arrogant cause they really think they will get all their PS4 owners back to PS5.

This calculation will get wrong.

Tbh as a PS fan I'm disappointed, this looks a desperate attempt by Sony to much or be closer to what SX has, but they failed, idc about the speed of the SSD since 3rd party devs will not fully take advantage of it, SX better in everywhere except the SSD. Sony will release a PRO version 2 or 3 years. It seems I will wait...

so..all will fall to ps5 price and exclusives
hopefully with 2.2gh gpu..there wont be thermal and noise issue..cerny did mention about teardown to look at the cooling system..so maybe the double fans patent being used? there sram in the ssd component though

while this time ms got really good start...although people said it 'just' 16% differences, but for the masses basically 10vs12 tf here.....they better not screw up this chances

and we might had similliar situation with ps4 pro vs xbox one x where the latter console run more game at native 4k than the former one

Yesterday it was a literally said "only specs" a nothing else
Yes i know but when he introduced PS4 Pro he showed Mass Effect running on the Pro with CB. I expected atleast GTS with ray tracing to show its power and capabilities.

Ray tracing? you can use you cannot, who cares, rasterization is ok.......................................................................................................................................................................................................:messenger_loudly_crying::messenger_loudly_crying::messenger_loudly_crying::messenger_loudly_crying::messenger_loudly_crying::messenger_loudly_crying::messenger_loudly_crying::messenger_loudly_crying:
Cerny really dropped the ball with this one :messenger_expressionless:

I want to apologise for anyone who believed in the Github leaks and was ridiculed. I'm sorry. At the end of the day, most 'insiders' here showed what fools we are. Cerny himself stated the 10.3 tf won't always be sustained for some games, meaning that it'll likely fall back on 2ghz to provide 9.2 tf. Also considering it's using AMD's ray tracing tech by putting RT cores into the CUs, then that means it has worse performance on both ray tracing and rasterisation than the Xbox SX. If it's not cheaper than the Xbox, then I don't know whether that SSD will win over people who really wanted the power this next generation.

For future generations that come here to look back at this thread and the reveal: believe the GitHub leaks.

this tf number was max, variable means that it will lower in most of the games, not all devs will want to max it for long periods of time.

Frankly, 36CUs is a sensible, slightly above conservative, approach to things.

Makes me wonder what the pricing would be. Sony could surely go a bit lower than MS.

Source? I don't recall Cerny saying it.

It is not. They are lucky that RDNA2 clocks as well as it does because if it hit a wall at 2Ghz or something it would be worse than the 5700XT.

I bet it will be hotter, louder and more power hungry than Xbox sex as well.

To be fair, the appeal for the PS has always been first party games.

Sony had the oportunity to kill this generation, PS5 will only lose in the GPU perf.

If PS5 have more Tflops and power, Sony would gain easily.

Hey guys! Been lurking around since December and thought I should just join. Heard many times this thread would turn into a complete shit show after the specs reveal (at least the TF figure) and well.. yeah you weren't kidding, lol.

Lighten up people, you think Cerny screwed up badly but actual devs (like the lead engine programmer @ ID Software) are saying PS5 is awesome. We always want more power, I get that, but they're gonna be fine. It might just take you a while to realize that cause you're too busy licking your wounds right now.
