Digital Foundry and VG Tech disagree (and I would take VG Techs word over DF, very good at pixel counting and provides the samples counted).
NXG is incorrect.
Counting pixels is no rocket science. Everyone should find the same.
NX Gamer is talking about Campaign, DF is talking about Multiplayer.
Still, here is what DF said about multi, from your link no less:
ps4pro 1512p with reconstruction, xbox dynamic 4k
edit
And here is VG Tech too on multiplayer:
PS4 Pro uses a dynamic resolution with the lowest native resolution found being approximately 1388x1528 and the highest native resolution found being approximately 2716x1528. On PS4 Pro a form of temporal reconstruction is used that can increase the resolution above the natively rendered resolution. The maximum resolution that can be reached with this temporal reconstruction technique on PS4 Pro seems to be 2716x1528.
Xbox One X uses a dynamic resolution with the lowest native resolution found being approximately 1920x2160 and the highest native resolution found being 3840x2160. On Xbox One X a form of temporal reconstruction is used that can increase the resolution above the natively rendered resolution up to 3840x2160.
So, if you do the multiplication,
ps4pro goes from:
lowest 1388 x 1528 native = 2120864 pixels
up to 2716 x 1528 native = 4150048
Xbox goes from:
lowest 1920 x 2160 native = 4147200
up to full 3840 x 2160 native = 8294400 pixels,
thus maintaining the same double resolution image quality across the line.
Where is your objection specifically?
