The most depressing part is seeing the old divide-and-rule dynamic play out again. Mods and community are ripping into each other, fighting over who it really was that wrecked the site, while the sole financial benefactor of their content creation and moderation efforts over the past five years laughs all the way to the bank. And none of them can even be angry with him: 'great hustle', or 'nothing will change' or 'I'm still processing this'. No different from the way that middle and working class groups go to war with each over the welfare state, civil rights and environmental concerns while billionaires, CEOs and politicians hover above the destruction, sipping champagne in private jets.

I want to highlight this specific post because I think it hits the nail on the head of why the problem has gotten so far out of control. Even the mods talk down to the posters. They have nothing but contempt for the user base. It's a cycle of toxicity. A good start to breaking would be to remove the jaded admins & mods and put in place people who can talk to the user base with empathy or to not engage at all.

Here's an example of what I mean. Imagine going to work and your supervisor talks to you & your colleagues like this openly, while the boss does nothing about it. Would you stay in such an environment? Now imagine you don't get paid to be there, you just hang out & shoot the shit. Why would anyone willingly spend their free time engaging with fuckheads like this?

Meanwhile, the mods are putting their heads in the sand about the reality of what the site will become under the new leadership:

A mod asked for details on how they would be paid, but talks down to people, trying to reduce the talking point to absurdity. The problem is, this poster ain't having it and posts a real world example of paid moderators on a Twitch channel (Cohh is a good streamer BTW):

You know what I miss Mods like Bish, I think the older mods were the ones with the better, more level headed tenure's. These new young mods dont have life experience, and I think honestly once they get career oriented and start having a family or relationship some of that weird bitterness towards the world will fall off a bit. Unless they are fucking lazy and think bitching banning people is progress for their plight?

But usually with age and just life, things start to come into perspective for a lot of young people. I know a couple friends who acted like Neph, but then had a kid. They are 180 totally different person now.

There should be a thread here on gaf that has the receipts and shows actually what happened, like "The great reset of 2017" it would help dispel that everyone here is a nazi which is what most resetera posters and mods believe this place to be filled with. Which is not even remotely true, people who disagree are not evil, or nazi's. ANd that social media change of the actual term/meaning is the most idiotic thing ever. Even if you google nazi it still is connected meaning to WW2.

There used to be. EviLore broke it down in excruciating detail actually. People used to request their bans get reversed, and he'd personally review them and show us the ridiculous posts that got them banned. He probably did that for like 2 years, just undoing the insane moderation that used to exist here.
