Honestly, DRC was even worse. I don't think I've seen a corner so disinterested in tackling in a long time. It's sad when Asante looks competent in that regard by comparison.

He has been pretty much invisible all season in a bad way. Secondary got torched by Earl Bennett of all people.

What in the world was Asante thinking on that fade route? He was 5 yards off and 3 yards in as if exclusively playing the slant route. That is Asante though...he does what he wants to do and not the play called.

Safe to count the Eagles out you think? Or is it still too early?

Too early mathematically but from here on out they can't afford to lose to any NFC team and only to the Pats, if even that.

They have the Cards, Giants, and Pats coming up. If they beat the Cards, they have to beat the Giants, and then also hope the Giants lose some games to the Niners, Packers, and Saints.

Its too much to ask for and this year's Giants don't seem like the bunch that usually collapses around this time of the year.

It was a combination of both since the pass was way too high. If Vick places that ball on the body he can catch, turn, and run for the first.

The Eagles WRs are good but they are pretty one dimensional. Just pure speed and no size. And of course the whole team in handicapped by the stupid ass moves by Reid on and off the field.

Monday - Nov 14th, 2011
MIN @ GB

Thursday - Nov 10th, 2011
OAK @ SD - So glad Thursday Night Football is back. Not the best games, but it's still football. Better than the dumb Sunbelt or Big East games that ESPN plays on Thursdays or whatever.

Sunday - Nov 13th, 2011
ARI @ PHI - Eagles are still a very dangerous team.
TEN @ CAR - Cam gonna cam
HOU @ TB - Texans cycle broken?
WAS@ MIA - Battle of two bad teams... Washington has scored 3 points in the last two games, right?
STL @ CLE - Niners to clinch in week 11!
BUF @ DAL - I would love Buffalo to win, but don't think they will.
PIT @ CIN - Again, would love Dalton and crew to win just for the story, but don't think they will.
JAC @ IND - They game is going to be awful.
DEN @ KC - Tebow throws for 30%
NO @ ATL - Easy win if Brees is careful with the ball...
BAL @ SEA - Best team in the AFC?
DET @ CHI - Bennett is the only guy on our team resembling a receiver, Lions have lots of weapons.
NYG @ SF - Niners aren't as good as their record I don't think.
NE @ NYJ - Brady can't continue to play so poorly, can he?

Monday - Nov 14th, 2011
MIN @ GB - I predict another close game but another Pack win.

Don't know why he doesn't get sat down for Hanson. I like Hanson quite a bit. He's a far better nickel corner, plays the slot well and he's a high effort guy. Not amazing but thus far when he's been on the field he's outplayed DRC and even Castillo admits that DRC "isn't used to playing in the slot"- so why the fuck is he there?

Still worried about consistency to be quite honest. The media is going all gaga over the win but it needs to be tempered. I want to see what they put on the field in San Fran and with the Eagles at home.

after we beat detroit on sunday, tell me how we don't win 4 or 5 more games w/this schedule:

Chargers
@ Raiders
Chiefs
@ Broncos
Seahawks
@ Packers
@ Vikings

even if we lose to the Chargers, Raiders, and Packers that still puts us at 10-6. Those AFC West teams are terrible. Traveling to the west coast for Oakland is the only thing that worries me, Carson Palmer is so bad that it makes that game winnable.

As I said earlier...how one game can change people's perceptions of a team.

That is the question for a lot of Eagles personnel decisions unfortunately. Players playing out of position or asked to do things they don't normally do.

If they had traded Asante for a capable LB I wouldn't have minded one bit because DRC could play the starting CB and fit that role better and the Eagles need an improvement across at the board at LB.

True and from week to week, besides the Packers, you have a new hot team so you never know. I have my fingers crossed that those bastard Niners beat you guys so the Eagles Giants game is at least relevant.

God damn you people are delusional.
Oh come on. Outside of the horrendous losses the Cowboys suffered to NE, NYJ, and Detroit, the team could have been considered a real contender had they won those games. But lets not sit here and pretend people expected the Cowboys to beat NE in NE, NYJ in NY, PHI after their bye week (12-0) and Detroit the way they were playing vs how the Cowboys were playing. The Cowboys are were they belong record wise. They had a really tough scehdule to start their season with.

Sun, Nov 13 vsBuffalo - Win
Sun, Nov 20 @Washington - Win
Thu, Nov 24 vsMiami - Win
Sun, Dec 4 @Arizona - Win
Sun, Dec 11 vsNew York - Loss
Sat, Dec 17 @Tampa Bay - Win
Sat, Dec 24 vsPhiladelphia - Win
Sun, Jan 1 @New York - Win

11-5

Realistically it'll probably go

Sun, Nov 13 vsBuffalo - Loss
Sun, Nov 20 @Washington - Win
Thu, Nov 24 vs Miami - Win
Sun, Dec 4 @Arizona - Win
Sun, Dec 11 vs New York - Loss
Sat, Dec 17 @Tampa Bay - Loss
Sat, Dec 24 vsPhiladelphia - Loss
Sun, Jan 1 @New York - Win

8-8

Which is exactly what I said when the claim was made that it's a better group than Green Bay's. It's just not. They have no possession-type receivers that can make the tough catch or get the first down over the middle with consistency. They don't have a guy who you can count on in the red zone and they don't have guys that really create tough match-ups. I'd say they easily have the worst receiving corps in the division (excluding Washington, just because we shouldn't talk about the JV teams).

Chicago fans at the beginning of the season saw the second half schedule as way weaker than the first....the question was how well we would survive the early year. I excepted 4-4 but 5-3 is ok.

But again, we lost to the Seahawks and Skins at home last year, so who knows...

Edit: Just saw that the Bears got an extension done for Garza. Guys not a stud but been consistent compared to the likes of Webb and Louis and made the move to C without much fuss.

Sure they do. He's on the bench behind Riley Cooper on the depth chart.;)

NFL 2011 Week 10 |OT| Because Anime FUBAR'ed the Week 9 Thread.

Anyhoo, let's make some picks.

Thursday - Nov 10th, 2011
OAK @ SD-It's that time of year again. The leaves are changing, Walmart's putting up their Christmas shit, Freeman's already salivating over that Thanksgiving turkey, and the Real San Diego Supah Chargahs show up.

Sunday - Nov 13th, 2011
ARI @ PHI-Fully expect Philly to win this, but I want Kolb to reverse fleece his former team just for teh lulz.
TEN @ CAR-Chris Johnson might double his rushing yards for the season after this game.
Hopefully in a Panthers victory
HOU @ TB-Houston is better, faster, stronger, hungrier. OK, maybe not hungrier.
WAS @ MIA-Since Suck for Luck went bottoms up last week, Sparano will probably continue to fuck up by trying to win more games.
STL @ CLE-Two bad teams, but McCoy just wins. He's like Tebow, but decent.
BUF @ DAL-Behind Tony Romo, Dallas will make a strong push for a wildcard.

/endcowherdstupidity

PIT @ CIN- Us jungle cats got to stick together. Ginger Ninja Dalton and Mean AJ Green make a formidable duo.
JAC @ IND-The 70's got Staubach vs. Bradshaw. The 80's got Marino vs. Montana. The 90's got Elway vs. Favre. The 00's got Manning vs Brady. The 10's get Painter vs. Gabbert.
DEN @ KC-Two bad teams, but Tebow just wins. He's like McCoy, but bad.
NO @ ATL-Fuck the Falcons. 'Nuff Said.
BAL @ SEA-Joe Montana Flacco is too much for the Seahawks.
DET @ CHI-Da Bears.
NYG @ SF-Eli-te will cower in the presence of Alexcellent.
NE @ NYJ-What do I spy with my little eye? A third straight loss for Duchess Brady.

Monday - Nov 14th, 2011
Adrian Peterson @ GB-DemiGodgers wins at home, and wins big.

The Packers and their fanbase are becoming every bit as evil as the 18-1 Patriots. Who will be the heroes to stop them?
If the Cowboys had a shot at them they could easily beat them. They've done it to the Colts when they won a superbowl and were like 9-0 and they did it to the Aints when they won their Superbowl and were like 12-0 at the time. Fortunately for the Packers, they wont have to play the Cowboys.

I'm sure you'll jump on the wagon by week 14 or so.

(And I was every bit as big an ass when Rodgers was unable to overcome his atrocious defense in 2008. How far he has come!)

Fortunately for the Packers, they wont have to play the Cowboys.
I'm glad you've resigned yourself to missing the playoffs. Your hopes earlier this morning were truly futile.

I assume the Packers will lose in the 1st round, taking the chance away from the Cowboys to knock them out of the picture.

Bad news Pats fans Spikes has a sprained mcl and he is week to week. Man this really sucks. Spikes is one of the few play makers the Pats have against the running game. Hope he isn't out for too long. One of the few young defensive players who has showed improvement.

Edit: Also listening to talk radio is depressing. It's exactly how I thought it would be. Brady did enough to win, but the defense let them down. They blame Brady a bit, but most of the blame is on the defense. Just pure garbage.

NY Giants in the NFC Championship.

NY Giants. Undefeated Streak Killers. (imagine me saying it like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b1H-XLwhzEw)

The three SBs where I've been the most emotionally invested are:

Giants/Bills -- Hated the Bills. Such a great contrast of styles and a great win by the Giants. Tainted now b/c Belichick probably had tape on every Bills practice

Steelers/Cowboys -- Like every good American I hated the Cowboys. Fuck you O'Donnell

Pats/Giants -- Again, hated the Pats like all REAL Americans. Devout coach. Vigin QB. Strahan's winning smile. Versus evil Belichick and misunderstood Lord Brady

So it seems like the Giants are the only ones who can destroy evil in our time

did you see the way lance louis was man-handling babin last night? i was pretty impressed with his play at RT. he's only played RT in like 4 or 5 games in the nfl, and he's been pretty impressive the last 3 games. he showed a really nasty disposition and was really finishing blocks. can't hate on the way he and spencer have played on the right side.

i mean all our good runs are to the right, that's the strong side of our line. guys like jamarcus webb and chris williams are bums by comparison.

I'm just glad Omiyale isn't on the right or anywhere on the line anymore

The Boston Herald sports section was both depressing and hilarious after the game. So much negativity.

What two teams will jump them for the first round bye?

I'm hoping Forte gets paid this week and then has a Chris Johnson-esque dropoff in quality for this weekend.

Also, with their respective schedules, Chicago has a much better chance of making the playoffs than Detroit does.

That loss to Atlanta could be devastating for the Lions' playoff hopes. If they end up tied Atlanta now has the tiebreaker.

Read somewhere 49ers are better "designed" to win games in January than Packers. I thought Packers defied the whole run-heavy, dominant D stuff last year already? Sure, their D doesn't seem as good as last year, but I think they'll pick it up towards the playoffs.

DeaconKnowledge said:

Their saving grace is that they're 2-1 in their division and have some softies coming up in Cards, Hawks and Phins. But they are in trouble for having dropped games against Atlanta and Chicago, teams they're now chasing in the wildcard.

Given your peccadilloes, I figured you'd be excited by the prospect of tentacle rape

It's too early to talk about who is chasing wildcards when division winners aren't even decided yet except for the NFC North and West divisions. Like it's funny people saying that the Falcons are in the wildcard chase when we are only a half game out of first in the division and haven't played the Saints yet.

I agree. Ultimately the Panthers will take that 2nd WC anyway, but right now they're not even in the discussion!
