NFL 2011 Week 10 |OT| Headlines

Thursday - Nov 10th, 2011
OAK @ SD - Both QBs will make big mistakes, but Rivers less than Palmer.

Sunday - Nov 13th, 2011
ARI @ PHI - Philly is still dangerous and Zona won't be able to contain Vick.
TEN @ CAR - Carolina playing much better than their record shows.
HOU @ TB - Top rated D?
WAS @ MIA - Miami loses again.
STL @ CLE - Game of the weak?
BUF @ DAL - Fitz hasn't looked as good since he got his contract
PIT @ CIN - Cincy could make a big statement here....not sure
JAC @ IND - Colts win.
DEN @ KC - Kansas City won't make as many offensive and defensive mistakes as the Raiders.
NO @ ATL - So this game is pretty important.
BAL @ SEA - Tavaris Jackson or whoever SEA's QB wont play well against Ravens D
DET @ CHI - Man I don't know. CHI dominated time of possession last game, even with 10 or so offensive penalties. A kinda fluky pass TD (Fuckin Meriweather) and rush TD turned that game into a mess. Offensive line and safety positions have been changed up. DET coming off a bye. Not going to pick yet.
NYG @ SF - Can Eli lead another 4th quarter comeback?
NE @ NYJ - not sure.

Monday - Nov 14th, 2011
MIN @ GB - Minnesota's in a rebuilding mode.

I'm off to Seattle in two days to watch the Ravens have a total emotional letdown and lose to another terrible team. Can't wait!

Anyone know Seattle? What the fuck is there to do/eat?

Not enough people picking the Bengals. Come on people, we're all Bengals fans this week.

Bengals don't get any respect. I mean seriously, Power Rankings are almost comical. (at 6-2, Peter King had them at 13, behind teams with losing records. lol) We'll know for real in the next two weeks. I know Power Rankings are stupid, but shit, they have the best record in the AFC... and ranked 13?

Jahvid Best out for Sunday's game against Chicago. Not good.

Thursday - Nov 10th, 2011
OAK @ SD - Unless Run DMC is back?

Sunday - Nov 13th, 2011
ARI @ PHI - It's such a shame Fitzgerald is being wasted on that team.
TEN @ CAR - Cam Newton 3-4 picks?
HOU @ TB - Texans will run rampant
WAS @ MIA - Miami will continue to make suck for luck interesting
STL @ CLE - Close game but home difference
BUF @ DAL - Not December yet but I have a feeling.
PIT @ CIN - Going to physically crush them.
JAC @ IND - Suck for luck dominance
DEN @ KC - Tim Tebow sucks but DEN will win.
NO @ ATL - Atlanta is an extremely tough team at home.
BAL @ SEA - No contest
DET @ CHI - Chicago is looking good. Jay Cutler not being sacked? Let's see if they can keep it up against that Lions D.
NYG @ SF - Eli manning is Eli-te.
NE @ NYJ - No way Pats lose 3 in a row. If they do, there's gotta be some serious consideration for change.

Monday - Nov 14th, 2011
MIN @ GB - I actually think this will be really close and I'm tempted to pick MIN. If it wasn't for being in Lambeau I would actually pick MIN as they will play hard against GB on a Monday night.

So, I haven't been paying much attention to Philly--is their D-line decent? Last night it appeared that they were completely owned by Chicago's OL. Or, has Chicago's OL improved that much?

Why are there no stickied NFL threads?
Week 9 was unstickied for this one then we had to endure delays akin to Chinese Democracy although Buckethead actually delivered. Pretty sure all it takes is a pm to a mod to get it stickied now.

Babin is overrated IMO, and is a one trick pony. They've had to tighten up their scheme due to getting gashed on the run, and that's hurt their sack potential big time.

Repeat after me:

THE BEARS WILL NOT BE SWEPT BY FUCKING DETROIT.

not happening. we're gonna win. book it.

Niners/Giants line is up. Niners favored by 3.5.

I like it better when we're underdogs coming into these games.
So it's pretty much an even deal with just home field advantage factored in.

Can't wait to just fuck these guys up. Lifelong Niner fans will disappear from GAF until next year and FMT will get a sexy Eli avatar. Only thing that sucks is that our very own lifelong Tabris will still be floating around.

Heard an interesting point, and kind of agreed with it. Coughlin is in the NY papers every week, one game away from being fired. All the while the reporters eat out of fatty's hands.

But all he's ever done is lose in the AFC championship game, while Coughlin has won a SB and always has the Giants in contention for the playoffs.

Jets are Broadway.
Giants are Flatbush.

I'm kind of rooting for the Giants and Ravens to fall and the Colts to win so Tabris will have the worst possible outcome this week.

Sorry Wellie.

Just saw the Bears score from last night. Told ya they would win.

Let's see they have head to head tie-breakers over

Atlanta
Tampa
Philly

NFC North will have 3 playoff teams.

Bears!!!!!!

Can't have Atlanta win their division though, because then Bears would be competing against the Saints for wildcard, who has the tiebreaker.

Run the table Saints.

Alex Smith has only thrown 10 touchdowns? So the 49ers are basically the Dilfer-led Ravens?

Interesting.

I'm sure they give zero fucks if they pull a Dilfer and win it all.

Sorry Wellie.

I stand by my teams® when they lose but I doubt that will happen. Eli is too eli-te right now and Ravens will destroy the Seahawks. And Indy winning? lol

Clearly. I just thought Smith had been more effective this year. Good to see he is still ass.

Harbaugh has turned Smith into an effective quarterback by essentially removing Smith from the game!

Total QBR is a complete waste of time, but I do like their "action play" count. Alex Smith has 282 action plays. 50-75 fewer than generally considered good quarterbacks. Rapist has over 400!

With suck for luck really being a possibility for Indy, what do you think they do?

1) Draft Luck, let him wait 3-4 years while Peyton finishes his career with a couple Superbowls?
2) Trade Luck/Draft Spot for a legitimate running back and win a couple Superbowls?
3) Draft Luck, play him and trade Peyton so the team Peyton is traded to wins a couple Superbowls?

I'm sure you will add whatever team Peyton is traded to to your collection (aka the Cowboys). Pro-tip: NFL fandom isn't like Pokemon.

Updated ESPN Power Rankings are up.

1 (1) Packers 8-0 The next big challenge to the unbeaten season is the Packers' visit to Detroit on Thanksgiving. (Clayton)

2 (2) 49ers 7-1 The 49ers play three of their next four at home and could clinch the NFC West in Week 11. (Sando)

3 (4) Ravens 6-2 A sweep of the Steelers makes the Ravens the new kings of the AFC North. (Walker)

4 (6) Saints 6-3 The Saints have outscored their past six opponents 52-9 in first quarters. (Sando)

5 (3) Steelers 6-2 Don't be fooled by the Baltimore losses. The Steelers can play with anyone. (Walker)

6 (9) Giants 6-2 The Giants started a brutal six-game stretch with a clutch win over New England. Up next: the 7-1 49ers in San Francisco. (Fox)

7 (8) Lions 6-2 Signing Leonard Davis as a backup guard was a good move, but too bad he isn't a big running back. (Clayton)

8 (11) Texans 6-3 Houston is three games over .500 for the first time in the 10-season history of the franchise. (Kuharsky)

9 (10) Bears 5-3 The Bears proved in beating Philadelphia they are in the playoff race until the end. (Clayton)

10 (14) Bengals 6-2 The Bengals are tied for the best record in the AFC. Are they legit contenders? (Walker)

Their one road game? At Baltimore. So excited to smack SF fans back to reality. Ashamed the Giants will be doing that first, this week.

10 TD's is only 1 behind Vick, Rivers and Newton. His 5-1 TD:INT ratio is second best in the league. His passer rating is 6th. Can't see how that isn't more effective to you...

He's not posting elite numbers, and we maintain a 55-45 percentage of run to pass, but a projection of ~3000 yards, 20 TDs and 4 INTS is something we'll take any day of the week. Remember, we can actually run the ball, so we kinda like to do that too.

Newton's got 7 TDs on the ground too!

Hehe, didn't mean to rag on Newton, just wanted to point out in relation to the non pass-happy-cause-our-team-can't-do-anything-else QB's, 10 TD's isn't that bad.

Bears are getting in.
If you ask me, so are Atlanta and New Orleans.
Despite a good start, I think it's the Lions that miss it this year. The loss against Atlanta is really going to hurt them, and I think NO will beat them too. Then on top of that they've got GB twice still, CHI, and SD.

Green Bay
Niners
Giants
Saints
Bears
Falcons

Bears get in regardless of who wins the South
Then Atlanta travels to GB in the 2nd round for a glorious revenge game

I would too if Smith were my quarterback. Harbaugh really has no faith in Smith whatsoever. He is 33rd in the league in attempts (ahead of only Gabbert). Part of that is the excellent defense allows them to grind the ball but man, have they had to throw their way into a game yet? They scored early in the 4th in that Detroit game, right? I don't remember.

I think they get destroyed by a team like the Saints in the first round of the playoffs with that formula.

This isn't meant to say the 49ers are bad or anything, but it flies in the face of FMT's assertion that Alex Smith is somehow a born again quarterback. He's simply been removed from the game plan.

Nope - TD pass on 4th and 6th with 1:51 to go

We won the Bengals game with mostly passing. Granted it was 13-8, but all the same, we were pretty much unable to run in that game.

Ya, I remember that game. "Won with mostly passing" is kind of misleading though. Didn't Smith throw for a total of like 195 yards? The 49ers defense is awesome, but 13 points isn't going to beat many teams this year.

Wellington said:
Still too early. They have a soft schedule and if they beat us in 2 weeks the division would still be up for grabs. Three games up with the packers and saints still on the schedule, I'm not totally confident yet.

FUCK no. It's so safe to say. Eagles are done. DONE GOT DAMMIT

Milchjon said:

LOLOL.....Never noticed that, only watched the runner when I watched that on TV.

Hilarious. He just gets shoved to the ground.

I'm aware. Gore's also got his mojo back since that game though, so we've been able to do a lot more on offense. It was also so early in the season, I don't believe the playbook was all the way opened up yet. Granted, Smith is never going to win a shootout for us, but thats why we have to rely on our defense to stop shootouts from happening in the first place.

man i was just looking, the giants stretch run is pretty brutal

@ NE - W
@ SF
vs PHIL
@ NO
vs GB
@ DAL

it's possible that they lose all the remaining games. i personally don't think they will, but it wouldn't be out of the question. if you come out of that 6 game stretch 4-2, i'd be ecstatic, and even 3-3 wouldn't be bad.
