With the news about Bradshaw, I'm surprised that you weren't immediately calling for the signing of Tiki.

it doesn't matter how much, "star" running backs just aren't important or durable enough to justify giving them big conctracts.

Arian is making 500k this year. For petes sake he deserves something.

Coughlin all but ruled him out this Sunday. That doesn't mean he won't play the next week and going forward. Like I said, he's a tough little man that doesn't let things like ankles and bones get in his way if he can help it.:)

As to Hakeem playing this Sunday?

Nicks has a mild low grade strain (no tear or anything) and its progressing. He'll likely not practice tomorrow either and try the hammy out on Saturday to see if he can go on Sunday.
Even though it would benefit my Niners for next week, and they are playing the Pats, I think it would be idiotic to play either Bradshaw or Nicks this weekend. The risk of injury aggravation would be extremely high, especially with both having minimal practice time this week.

Hines is done dude. I am not basing that on this season alone, I have seen him slip over the last 1.5 seasons and he is holding the offense back.

Whenever he comes back you will see offensive production decline dramatically. I honestly think even the Pats could cover him just because he is so fucking slow. He never makes the defense pay when Ben goes to him on a hot route on a blitz. When that happens it is time to let the next guy step up.

lolwut?

He's missed one game against the worst defense in the league. If he comes back this week, against the best defense in the league, of course offensive production is going to decline.

Ward needs to be in on certain packages, namely running situations and red zone. The young guys aren't tough enough to break jaws or savvy enough to get open in the end zone. In open space, they are much better.

Nicks won't play. A lot of what's coming out of practice is his own positivity and WANT to get on the field. Coughlin defers to the medical team at all times. If the trainers say he's ready to go, he'll go. If not, he won't.

Bradshaw? I'm sticking with Coughlin here and he's all but ruled him out.

Vote Ike Taylor into the God Damn Pro Bowl already!
The fact that Jason Pierre-Paul isn't even listed /at all/ in the DE group for voting while Justin Tuck is should tell you how much of a fucking sham the Pro-Bowl is anyway. That's not to say I think Tuck won't deserve it at the end of the year (he's my favorite player!) but he's missed 4 games for god sakes.

Some good news?

Patricia_Traina Patricia Traina
Justin Tuck no longer is listed as having neck/groin injuries. I checked with the Giants and the neck is apparently no longer an issue.

As for JPP:

MikeGarafolo Mike Garafolo
Giants spokesman says Pierre-Paul collided with a player in practice. Getting checked out and they'll see how he is tomorrow. #nyg
Please be ok. Please be ok.

You guys are getting ridiculous with this. It's okay to pay a running back. Just don't pay him a back breaking contract like CJ2K.

And to be completely fair, AP got a huge-ass contract this offseason as well and is still playing as well as ever. Not saying you should dole out that kind've money for a RB, but its not like it always ends badly.

Pay him. There's something different about Foster. Not CJ0.2k money, but something that will keep him here for the duration of Andre's tenure here.

I am praying the Niners and Giants take care of business this week and have a fist fight next week.

Arians thoughts in his Twitter account are worth a million alone.

I don't get it the trashing the Bills always get. I've been to Ralph Wilson Stadium a few times, the place is a dump but it's always rammed with (drunk) fans, how could they make so little money and be under constant threat of being moved?

Depends on the stadium situation? In Houston McNair makes money from concession sales from ALL events at Reliant not just NFL games. Thats a shit ton of money. Not to mention all the advertising that they do in these newer big ass stadiums.

I also believe there is a waiting list to get on a waiting list for Texans season tickets.

Oh my.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/11/03/peyton-manning-takes-a-shot-at-phil-simms/

The decision of Colts quarterback Peyton Manning to show up unannounced and meet with the media included a comment about the recent ridiculous remarks from Phil Simms of CBS and Showtime that Manning won’t “let” the Colts draft Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck.

“I don’t talk to Phil,” Manning said, via Phillip B. Wilson of the Indianapolis Star. “Phil doesn’t talk to me. He did text me after that, saying ‘Hey, sorry to drag your name into this.’ I wrote back, ‘Phil I don’t know what you’re talking about.’ He said, ‘Well on my show, Inside the NFL, I made this statement.’ I said, ‘Phil, I hate to break it to you, but I don’t watch your show, along with a lot of other people that I don’t think watch that show.’ Giving himself a little more credit than probably was merited.”

As a Giants fan I can't not love Phil Simms as a QB but DAMN. :jnc

Dude I have to disagree here. I am coming off like a Ward hater but I said all of this stuff before the New England game as well.

I agree that with or without him our production is going down against the Ravens, but the guy is just not playing well enough to take away all of those minutes from Sanders or Cotchery.

If a team is play zone against us and they are not blitzing then Hines is the better choice for our offense, I will concede that because he is the smartest receiver on the offense and will find the holes and sit there. But he is worthless on blitzes because he can't get separation anymore and even when there is space he can't do anything with it other than lower his shoulder and get maybe a half yard.

I think we can score 20+ on the Ravens is Hines doesn't suit up. I think that number drops to 13-17 if he plays (these are points scored without the aid of Flacco).

Also, Deandre Levy has 63 tackles this season already? What a fucking stud. If I could ever forgive someone for going to Wisconsin, its Levy <3

Exactly. Eagles are in a bind now though because Desean is getting paid 500k or something like this year, Maclin is performing even better, and McCoy is playing like an elite RB.

Of course I think they all deserved to be paid and I hope the Eagles somehow work it out. McCoy def deserves the money but of course not as much as AP or CJ.

Foster isn't the type to take money and become a bum.

Pay him something decent, he is the reason people buy jerseys outside of Andre. That alone must mean something. That and he holds our RB TD record now (or just tied it). And he's been stellar for most of 1.5 years now, longer than Slaton. So if they were worried about him being a Slaton, that should be put to rest.

Edit: No one deserves CJ money unless they are AP. He literally does 100 yds with a SHITTY ass team. McCoy and Foster though, they both do special things at the RB position and deserve heftier contracts.

The Giants just completed a comeback win at home to get to 5-2, two games up in the NFC East.

Running back Brandon Jacobs thus decided to throw another turd in the punch bowl.

“I’ve got nothing positive to say,” Jacobs said after the win via ESPNNewYork.com. “The most positive thing: I got family at home and I got a fast-ass car being delivered on Tuesday. That’s it.”

Jacobs had five touches in the game, which totaled ten yards. Most of that playing time came when Ahmad Bradshaw battled an injured foot.

Jacobs seemed to realize that talking wasn’t going to help his cause.

“Cause I can’t say nothing,” Jacobs said. “I always say something for everyone else’s dislike.”

Mccoy isn't a free agent next year, is he? Neither is Maclin for that matter.

The "don't pay a running back" meme has more to do with how interchangeable these guys are as opposed to whether they will get lazy post money ala CJ.5k, IMO. I think that's a bit unfair in some cases where you have a versatile back like Foster or more elite runners like Peterson etc. but considering they are the exception to the rule, can you honestly say that most backs in the league are worth big money?

Yeah but you know players. As soon as they feel like they have out performed their contracts, especially if they are getting paid as little as DJAX is, they want a better contract.

Good article chronicling the last year for Cam: http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/2011/11/3/2532406/cam-newton-panthers-rookie-of-the-year

A few choice tidbits:

November 15th Cam Newton WILL be deemed ineligible, says Clay Travis at AOL Fanhouse: "Let's get this out of the way early: Cam Newton is going to be ruled ineligible to play college football at some point. That ruling will mean that every game he participated would not count as an Auburn victory. This isn't a question of if, it's a question of when."

Sorry bro, u mad?

December 4th Auburn throttles South Carolina to win the SEC Championship Game and advance to the BCS National Championship Game. Newton throws for a career-high 335 yards, and adds 6 touchdowns, winning game MVP honors. Everyone is drinking the Kool-Aid.

Link to the video of Tracy Wolfson drinking "Cammy Cam Juice": http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=76WtmALP3e4
lol, I love Cam's reaction...I wonder what he put in there

February 10th After the workout for the media, ESPN analyst Trent Dilfer raves: "The ceiling is so astronomically high for this player, Cam Newton, that the scouts, the GMs, the coaches are really going to be slobbering about the prospects of having him on their team." Meanwhile, NFL Network's Mike Mayock A) doesn't watch the workout, B.) demurs with the following (via Pro Football Talk): "I really didn’t need to see the workout, nor do I need to hear about the workout. … I’ve watched five of his game tapes. …I would also (offer) one cautionary note, and that is the best Pro Day for a quarterback I ever attended was JaMarcus Russell. That same day, even though I admitted it was the best Pro Day I ever saw, I also said I wouldn’t take him in the first round."

Nice call Mayock!

March 28th The loudest criticism of all comes from Pro Football Weekly: "Very disingenuous -- has a fake smile, comes off as very scripted and has a selfish, me-first makeup. Always knows where the cameras are and plays to them. Has an enormous ego with a sense of entitlement that continually invites trouble and makes him believe he is above the law -- does not command respect from teammates and will always struggle to win a locker room . . . Lacks accountability, focus and trustworthiness -- is not punctual, seeks shortcuts and sets a bad example. Immature and has had issues with authority. Not dependable."

...

March 31st The scout from Pro Football Weekly defends himself, saying, "I’ve had a lot of calls and messages from people I deal with on a regular basis in the NFL offering encouragement and support, letting me know what I wrote and the final result on that evaluation, that they believe in it. That I hit it on the head."

I bet all those people don't actually work for NFL teams!

A lot more good stuff at the link

I think it's funny that just last year Steelers fans on this board and others were lamenting: "We coulda had Chris Johnson..."

No one could of predicted such a shitty season from him. If they say they did they are fucking lying through there trailer park teeth.

Peyton showed some balls of steel with that retort to Simms. I'm not a fan of the Colts' franchise, but I'll be damned if Peyton isn't my favorite player in the league. I'm going to be in a depressed funk for a few days if it turns out his career is over.

Just the same, Good running is 2 parts good talent and equal parts the line in front of you. Thinking that Chris Johnson drafted by the Steelers would have performed to similar CJ2K status is laughable.
