The biggest error in judgement was not going after FOX's NFC rights deal when CBS was betting their whole company on AFC rights. Not possible? They had enough money. They still are smarting even after they got the Sunday Franchise. That loss of the Sunday Franchise was ESPN's fault because they would have had BOTH still. ESPN couldnt pay 660 million for MNF on ABC. But a week later they found the cash to get MNF on ESPN for 1.8 BILLION?
Just doesn't make sense. The way things are going I can't imagine a MNF in the future as well.

Speaking of Peyton - he wants Phils Job at the booth. All those Sony (CBS's hidden Japanese deal making folks) Ads with Nantz are not for nothing folks.

well, they just spent 15 BILLION on MNF rights and video and internet rights for 2013 onward. We dont know the details but your gonna see a lot of stations pitching in for internet rights now for the rest of the rights holders.

A NFL worth 50 BILLION dollars. HOLY SHIT.

I still can't believe we live in a world where Marv Albert is on the second string of commentating.

Nantz has been CBS's Good Solder for YEARS. You dont diss him. Marv knows.

Yeah. ESPN is what it is. No use complaining about how bad it is.

The fuck? Not to go into the typical, "forums are for complaining" schtick, but what do you expect people to do here? Steelers GAF whines about Goodell every other week even though that doesnt do anything. Most conversations here have no use.

Im neither a fantasy football nut or nor anti establishment, Sanjuro. I just know any time I turn the channel on the commentary physically makes cringe. Im sure it's not all bad, but I have no need to give it a chance when there's niche avenues that fits my needs better anyway. I dont think anyone's saying anything overly critical anyway.

Is he second string now? He was on the #4 team at the start of the season.

Nobody here is stopping you from complaining. I just find it funny when people say things like "I was watching ESPN the other day/I was listening to Cowherd/I was watching Inside the NFL, man, it's so bad." First thing that always pops up in my head is "If you hate it so much, why'd you sit down and watch it?"

What would happen if there was proof that a team tanked on purpose for the express reason of getting a number one draft pick? Does intentionally losing games have any consequences for an NFL program if it isn't related to gambling?

I asked for someone to show me a vastly superior variant. Fox Sports Net? NFL Network? I just hate the mentality of people saying "It sucks" and then go about watching it. It's a necessary evil.
I typically go to the various individual league channels for coverage now. ESPN is nearly unwatchable save for the E:60/30 for 30 stuff. If I just want sports noise on in the background, I'll flip it to sportscenter occasionally, but if I want anything relevant, NFL Network blows away any coverage ESPN does. Even the dumb show with Brent Barry/Dennis Scott on NBATV is way better than the drivel that Jalen Rose and company would throw out. TNT's Inside the NBA crew is pretty amazing. And if I want to subject myself to awful (albeit limited) Astros coverage, MLB Network does a much better job. ESPN is lazy because they can be. If they had any legitimate competition as an all sports network, they would have shaped up by now. Instead, they just bank on the average watcher falling into their couch, turning on SportsCenter like they have the past 20 years of their life, and not venturing elsewhere for coverage.

I don't, but I am forced to watch it on monday nights. Although, it's been easier and easier to pull away with these horrible games. If this was any other season, I'd be hungry for football no matter how bad it is, but these monday night games are atrocious.

[edit]30 for 30 is definitely the exception. :P They did great work with that.

Except the Raiders got the worst one. Ice Cube was terrible. He also dragged Lifelong Cat's brother Snoop into it.

There were a few bad ones, and yeah, the Raiders one was pretty bad. That said, the Al Davis interview was very good. Unfortunately, Ice Cube made it more about himself and NWA than about the Raiders.

The only thing I took from the Raiders episode are that rappers don't age well and fuck the LA Kings.

Rappers join police/crime dramas once they're no longer rapping. Or make kid movies.

Not terribly surprising but...

TheBlueScreen Ralph Vacchiano
RB Ahmad Bradshaw has decided, at least for now, not to have surgery, according to a source. His status for Sunday is still unknown. #NYG

Oh and Mike Westhoff says the workout Matt Dodge had with the Jets was "very average"

http://www.nj.com/jets/index.ssf/20...tml?utm_medium=twitter&utm_source=twitterfeed

Westhoff said that Dodge has potential, but that he wasn't blown away during the workout.

"It was okay, to be honest with you it was a very average workout to tell you the truth, although I kind of liked the guy," Westhoff said. "I think if someone would spend some time with him he'd really have an opportunity but I'm not prepared to do that right now."

Thanks for cutting Weatherford loose, Mike. He's been fantastic for us all year.:)

WTF was that story of Suggs owning Big Ben?

This year was the first time they had beaten Ben in a long ass time.

Oh well. I can't complain too much. The Ravens talk a lot of shit every year, but when it matters most Ben always scores and when he can't get it done usually Flacco finds a way to save the day (for the Steelers). Hopefully this latest bout of shit talking gives us enough bulletin board material to keep Ben's domination of the cRavens going.

The Inconvenient Truth: 8 is not enough to handle Frank Gore.

Even more impressive when you see that Peterson and Jones-Drew have played one more game then Gore has.

I am al little surprised they don't put 8 in the box 66.6% of the time against AP. I figured with McRibb and Ponder that you would stack the box on every 1st and 2nd down and then put on the pass coverage unit on 3rd and long.

Ponder > Alex Smith?

Ponder can be greater than Alex smith I'll take 6-1!

While we're looking at rushing stats...

Ben Tate is currently 1 yard away from giving the Texans two of the top 10 rushing leaders this season.

Foster at #9, Tate at #11

I love having a fairly consistent running game and Kubiak finally not abandoning the run 5 minutes into the game.

Why did they cut Weatherford anyway? Didn't he play pretty well last year? I remember him having a bad game in one of the playoffs but that's it.

For when he goes hog hunting in Green Bay
Yeah, he's not in Green Bay in that picture, that's for sure.

Don't you remember Caldwell flipping the bitch switch to ruin the perfect season and lose in the playoffs anyways? I don't know where the line is between that horseshit and the Black Sox, but I would've called them the exact same thing... Clearly, the NFL does not. Hard not to punish the Colts for that and then turn around and punish a "Suck for Luck" campaign. I think Goodell has opted for positive reinforcement (incentives to win) instead of negative (penalties for point shaving).

Feels good man. Feels so good. I kind of want to start direct snapping to one or the other of those two and just leave Schaub out of the equation as much as possible.
