So Lions-GAF, what you wanna do this week?

Or should we put our Texans jerseys on for the week?

The one Sunday I have to work during football season is during the bye week.

I'll take it.

I'm looking forward to the Sunday and Monday night games, though--could be two great ones.

I liked 2003-2010 FMT better.

Stats really don't mean shit.

To quote the most evil genius of our times. "Stats are for losers, final scores are for winners."*

* This was said immediately after the Steelers thoroughly destroyed and emasculated the New England Patriots on this most recent Sunday**.

** I was actually said after some other game, but I like to pretend he said it after the Steelers made him look like the league had passed him by.

...why? Palmer must have begged them for TJ since they worked out together. Makes no fucking sense. If TJ gets the one starting spot left for deserving WRs (because one is DHB's by default since Hue is an idiot), then that is really stupid. Ford, Hagan, and Moore are never going to get the chance that they deserve. Schillens is finally healthy and they deactivate him. :|

Nothing bugs me more with bad coaches than their veteran fetishes. Old players are stop gap, don't get better, and don't help the organization in the coming years.

Rams did this, as Spags knew he had to win now. Sitting young players for stop gap veterans is a sign of a desperate coach and a weak front office.

What the fuck is up with your avatar?
I'd take it down, but I feel like I'd be putting it up again soon. I run the gamut of emotions on any given game. Sunday is really Baltimore Ravens vs Joe Flacco.

ultimately stats don't mean anything (look at all the QB's throwing for 300+ yards and losing) but it's nice to have a good defense AND win as well

If only it had been Plinko.

I don't know what to do. Feel like I should go on some grand Michigan adventure, go up north and do something special.

Oh, and this is Godslay's avatar for the next week:

I'll wear it proudly. Sadly enough I did print out the Tebow papercraft when it was up on the Denver Post for something to do with my kid :(

I think after this Sunday we'll see Quinn get his shot if we lose. Last I read, Fox isn't cementing Tebow as the starter for the rest of the season. It's all on a week-to-week basis.

I still think we get rid of these 3 at the end of the season and just move on with whoever we get out of the draft. I don't think Fox and Elway like any of these guys.

I'm thinking the same thing. Quinn might get a shot. I wouldn't mind seeing the Weber/Decker connection at some point if things get real bad.

As far as getting rid of Tebow, why not give him a shot at a different position? If he will let go of wanting to be a QB I think he could do better than Knowshon as someone pointed out earlier. I also think his redzone prowess would make him worth it. I'm not sure how he would take it if Fox/Elway asked him to move around. Although he did play WR for a couple of downs so it is a possibility.

So are the ravens a pass first or run first team?

Former NFL QB Erik Kramer's son found dead.
The son of a former NFL star quarterback who was playing in his final high school season as a backup passer for one of Southern California's most prominent football programs was found dead on Sunday, sending a high school community into mourning.

According to the Los Angeles Times and a handful of other Southern California sources, 18-year-old Thousand Oaks (Calif.) High senior quarterback Griffen Kramer was found dead on Sunday at the house of a close friend. School officials gave preliminary information that they believe, "his passing was due to alcohol poisoning." The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department also confirmed that it has no reason to believe that there was any criminal activity involved in the teen's passing.

The thing is: he doesn't have an old player fetish. He's just a moron and loves Carson like a fucking son or something.

If you like defense and winning you should be a Steelers fan. Nobody has done it better over the last 20 years. Still not too late to join!

When playing the Steelers it is neither.

They usually just shit themselves on offense and watch Ben drive through their defense in the last 2 minutes to win the game.

So when do the Niners lose again? Next week with NYG at home or on Thanksgiving at BAL? Or will they fall to a division rival like ARZ? I know the likelihood of them going undefeated in division is slim but I can't see that D giving up more than 17 to any NFC west team. Damn it's good to be a Niners fan this year!

it surely won't be this week! that would be like the rams beating the saints

in all honesty every game is going to be a fight for us and i don't think we have any gimmes on the schedule. there's no such thing in todays WATERED DOWN SHITTY NFL WHERE THERE ARE NO GREAT TEAMS! I FUCKING HATE WHAT THIS LEAGUE HAS BECOME!!!111 [/eznark]

12-4 is my prediction with a bye.

i don't know what coaches or teams have against brady quinn. you see other guys getting chances but for some reason no one wants to give him a shot. i don't see what the broncos have to lose, quinn has looked good in the pre-season and has to be a better qb than tebow
It seems like the overwhelming consensus (at least on Denver talk radio) is that he somehow lost his chance after his poor performance in the 4th preseason game...which was probably a convenient excuse to put Tebow in.

EDIT: I'll take Denver over Oakland if only to affirm the last of my good faith in Tebow. He simply cannot suck this week if he wants to be an NFL quarterback; this might actually be the most important game he's ever played.

I feel bad for Ravens fans. Flacco is terrible. If they had a decent QB, they would be SB contenders. Unfortunately, they have Mr. I Think My Team Is Sucking For Luck.

I don't know. I don't think he would back down from trying to be a starting quarterback. He said it himself that nobody believed that he could be a quarterback in high school and college. Now he's trying to prove his doubters wrong in the NFL. Unfortunately for Tim, the Broncos front office don't want to support him. The only person who believed in him is in St. Louis. I think it's better for him to try and find a team that really supports him as a quarterback.

I could see the niners melting down and finishing 8-8 or 9-7. They're good but the ball has been bouncing their way in close games. That shit can change quick.

We kept saying the same about the Saints in 2009 too!

we have had the ball bounce our way a few times but every good team throughout the history of the league has had a little luck on their side throughout the year. yeah we were fortune to win vs. the eagles being down 23-3 in that game, but every other game we have either demolished our opponent or have been close from start to finish.

who knows though. it's a long season and we aren't even halfway done so anything could happen

I saw a stat today that Joe Flacco has the most wins for any QB since 2008. How many are he responsible for and how many wins has he cost us?

Flacco, Romo, Schaub, Cassel. You can't win a SB with these guys. I mean you could possibly, if everything else went right. But they definitely won't lead your team there.

So what do you do? Those teams aren't terrible. All could conceivably win a playoff game. But those guys ceilings are established. At what point do you spend a high draft choice with the hope of upgrading?

what the fuck? you don't even believe that anymore. you know what's going to happen to you on thanksgiving and you need to come to terms with it. we might have mercy on you because patrick willis is a fan of ray lewis but beyond that we offer no quarter!

final score:

49ers - 62
Ravens - 2 (a safety on the final play of the game when kapernick kneels in the endzone by accident... we had the ball on the goalline because we stopped the ravens 4 times from the 1 inch line)

Be realistic. That's the final score this week, Baltimore 62, Pittsburgh 2. You guys aren't as good as Pitt. It won't be that close.

i'm 99% certain you guys are going to get your shit pushed in by the steelers this week after what transpired in week 1. i don't give a shit about either team though. we're going to fuck both of you up just like we did to the other sorry ass teams in your division

I trust Alex Smith West more than Alex Smith North because we have the right Harbaugh. Ours won't let Alex Smith West throw over his receivers heads 30 yards down the field 30 times a game like the Ravens will let Alex Smith North do.

Can we get this thread stickied?

I was pretty happy to hear the MNF crew call out of the NFL on their bogus rules. Even Tirico was saying the rules are ridiculous, which was a shock to me. Some of these flags are getting ridiculous especially involving the QB. News flash, QBs don't get a concussion from an arm to the facemask, they get concussions being hit in the face with a helmet. I'm tired of seeing an arm hit the helmet of a QB and getting flagged. Hopefully this off season they revise some of these rules.

Detroit GAF needs to go down to Toledo to find a place airing Texans/Browns on Sunday since the Lions are on a bye.
